Rich Stubler will not be back with the BC Lions next season. Cheap Jerseys NFL . The team announced the defensive coordinator will not be offered a contract extension. "Im grateful for Richs contributions to our organization as well his personal assistance over the past two seasons and on behalf of our club, I wish him the very best in the future," head coach Mike Benevides said in a team release. Stubler, who just finished his second year with the team will be a leading candidate for the same role in Winnipeg. The decision means the Lions will have two new coordinators for next season after mutually parting ways with offensive coordinator Jacques Chapdelaine earlier this off-season. Cheap Jerseys Wholesale . - A week after a late-game debacle on defence, the Pittsburgh Steelers showed they can finish. Cheap Jerseys China . SURREY, B. Alex Cobb Jersey .C. -- B.C. Lions quarterback Thomas DeMarco is looking forward to taking centre stage again Friday against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers -- but hes not promising an encore grand performance in his second CFL start. "I have one game under my belt," said DeMarco after B.C.s last full practice Wednesday. "Im not a veteran. Theres certain things I still have to get used to but, having the success of last game and building off of that, Im hoping to keep it going." DeMarco, a second-year pro who is filling in for injured starter Travis Lulay (shoulder), led the Lions to a last-play 24-22 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Regina last weekend. The 24-year-old was calm under pressure as he led the Lions down field and completed a third-and-long pass to set up Paul McCallums winning field goal. But DeMarco is not getting too excited about his press clippings. "The biggest thing is, in a short week, you just got to take a few things you wanna work on that were going to do in this game -- and make sure that you limit your mistakes quickly and have a very keen sense to focusing on this game," he said. "So right now, that last game I had, its over with, done with, and now Im focused on Winnipeg." If the Lions (8-4) can beat the Bombers (2-10) for a second time this season, they will gain a share of first place in the West Division, at least temporarily, with the Calgary Stampeders. DeMarco is starting to feel more comfortable with B.C.s offence after taking the starters reps in practice this week. "The more accustomed that I get to running the show and making sure that I have those reps, its only going to get better from here," he said. Coach Mike Benevides tried to get DeMarco and the rest of his team accustomed to playing in Winnipegs new stadium by pumping in loud music during practice. The quarterback handled the hostile environs in Regina, save for some first-half troubles, without a glaring amount of difficulty. He is expecting another rowdy crowd in the Manitoba capital. "I thought we did well with that (crowd in Regina)," he said. "Its going to be a passionate crowd, just like it was in Saskatchewan. We love playing in front of them. We like the excitement thats going to happen. Were going to do the same thing (a silent count) we did in Saskatchewan. We had a pretty good sense of how to communicate, and I think we should be fine." But he suggested his unspoken communication with receivers is still a work in progress. He could also have to get used to some receivers in different roles. Paris Jackson is slated to go in at wide receiver as Marco Iannuzzi deals with a leg injury suffered on a key late punt return against the Roughriders. Manny Arceneaux, who missed the game in Saskatchewan, is also questionable after aggravating a groin injury late in practice Wednesday. But Benevides believes DeMarco, who was never drafted in the NFL and needed six pro tryouts, the last with B.C. in adverse weather in the Washington, D.C., area, to get a contract, can shine again. Benevides lauded DeMarco for his efforts in last weekends win over Saskatchewan and a strong relief appearance in place of the injured Lulay in a victory over Montreal a week earlier. "It hasnt surprised me, because Ive seen Thomas always come through when hes been challenged," said Benevides. "Any time any quarterback can do what he did in that environment with 38 seconds left, (its) tremendously impressive. The last two games hes been in, hes been giving us a chance to really protect the football, and Im looking for him to continue to grow, because with more repetitions and success in games, the more confidence comes along." DeMarco, an Old Dominion product, has competed 24-of-44 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns this season. He has yet to thrown an interception in his brief CFL career. Benevides said the young signal-caller has not let the added pressure of being a starter get to him. "Thomas has got an outstanding level of confidence," said Benevides. "He also has a quirky personality. He kind of lets (things) roll off his back, and hes got a tremendous sense of humour." But a flu bug within the team has not been a laughing matter. Backup quarterback Buck Pierce, who is slated to return to Winnipeg after a trade earlier this month, was sick Wednesday and stayed away from practice. "Its the first time Ive taken this many reps since training camp," said backup QB Joey Elliott. "So it was good to actually get back in there." Pierce is still slated to travel with the team Thursday. But Elliott, who was released by the Bombers after last season, is making sure that he is prepared just in case. "If Buck is down, Ill be ready to go," said Elliott. "But with it just a basic cold, Buck should be ready to go, and I know hes really excited to be heading back to Winnipeg." Max Hall is slated to get the call for Winnipeg, which has had many struggles at the quarterback position this season. But the Lions are also preparing for Justin Goltz, who started against them at B.C. Place in August. Benevides said the team has studied Hall mostly, because he has seen most of the action between the two. But nickleback Korey Banks said it does not matter which quarterback they face. "Were past that now," said Banks. "Were into the point now where were going to prepare for ourselves. ... If were on our Ps and Qs, were gonna win." Notes: The Lions will head straight to Winnipegs new stadium to check it out after arriving Thursday. ... Special teams player Tim Cronk will get into the lineup as a result of Stu Foords knee injury suffered in Saskatchewan. ... B.C. defensive back Dante Marsh is questionable after leaving practice early with an injury that Benevides didnt have details on. Tampa Bay Rays Jersey . PAUL, Minn. Custom Tampa Bay Rays Jersey . -- Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer will be out three to six weeks with a stress fracture of the third finger of his right hand.HULL, England -- Hull beat Liverpool 3-1 in the Premier League on Sunday for its first ever victory against the Merseyside club. Hull went ahead after Jake Livermores shot from outside the area took a deflection off Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel and looped over goalkeeper Simon Mignolet in the 20th minute at the KC Stadium. Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge could be sidelined for up to eight weeks after spraining his ankle during training earlier this week. The England forward has scored 11 goals in 14 matches for the Reds this season and his partnership with Luis Suarez has proved decisive in many occasions. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said before Sundays 3-1 loss at Hull that "Daniel is probably going to be out six to eight weeks. Its a big blow for us because hes been brilliant since hes come in." Steven Gerrard equalized seven minutes later with a well-placed free kick through a sudden hole in the wall created by Skrtel. David Meyler put Hull ahead again in the 72nd with a left-footed shot and Skrtel finished a miserable afternoon for Liverpool with a spectacular own-goal header in the 87th. Liverpool trails league leaders Arsenal by seven points. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers had recalled Victor Moses and Raheem Sterling, the latter making his first start since Oct. 5, but they proved inadequate replacements for Sturridge. For Hull, it was a memorable afternoon and a seasons best performance -- just the boost required after last weeks defeat to lowly Crystal Palace. The match quickly settled into a pattern of Liverpool going forward and Hull clearing its lines. The Reds forced three corners in the first six minutes, buut the hosts stood up well to Gerrards delivery. Matt Moore Rays Jersey. There were hints that Hull was not going to be completely passive, though, with Yannick Sagbo and Livermore creating a promising counter-attack in the 14th minute only for Robert Koren to linger too long over a final ball. Nevertheless, it was still a major surprise when Hull went ahead six minutes later. Moses was culpable, giving the ball away to Ahmed Elmohamady when trying to attack from the back and bringing Livermore into the game. He exchanged a quick one-two with Meyler, advanced on goal and saw his 20-yard strike loop past Mignolet via a heavy deflection off Skrtel for Livermores first goal of the season. With 26 minutes gone Curtis Davies felled the advancing Jordan Henderson and offered Liverpool the most inviting of free kicks. Luis Suarez appeared interested but Gerrard pulled rank and bent the ball brilliantly past Allan McGregor after Skrtel pulled away from the wall to create a gap. The leveler settled Liverpool and both Gerrard and Suarez began to play with greater freedom as they probed Hull for further openings. Yet they did not have a shot of note between them until the stroke of half time when Suarez hit an unusually tame effort from Sterlings clever through ball. Liverpool started the second period shakily with Moses and Sterling offering little cutting edge in support of Suarez. Meyler grabbed the second, driving into the bottom corner after his initial strike was blocked by Kolo Toure. With Liverpool throwing numbers forward, a third goal seemed inevitable and came when Tom Huddlestones shot looked to be heading well wide until Skrtels deflection. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '

MINNEAPOLIS -- Just as Joe Mauer and Tsuyoshi Nishioka are getting closer to returning to the Minnesota Twins, Justin Morneau is headed to the disabled list. Hisashi Iwakuma Jersey . The Twins shelved their first baseman on Tuesday night with a strained left wrist, making the announcement a few minutes after their series opener against the Chicago White Sox was rained out. Morneaus wrist will be immobilized for 10 days, but general manager Bill Smith said the team did not anticipate an extended stay on the DL. Morneau from New Westminster, B.C., was trying to avoid the disabled list, but the 2006 AL MVP hasnt played since Friday, and a cortisone shot he received on Sunday had yet to take. "Weve waited about as long as we can," Smith said. Morneau said the injury made him feel as if he was swinging one-handed. He met with a specialist on Tuesday afternoon, and doctors told him he needed rest, followed by a few days to regain his range of motion. "No matter what I want to play," said Morneau, who talked his way out of a DL stint earlier this season when he had a sore neck. "But if it comes to the point where Im not doing myself any good or anyone on the team any good ... If Im able to play the way I want to play and the way everybody expects me to play thats one thing, but Im in pain and being, I wouldnt say useless but not very good, I dont think that does anyone on the team any good." Morneau is hitting .265 with just three homers and 17 RBIs this season. Hes received cortisone shots in his neck and now in his hand, a frustrating season for him after missing the final three months of last year with a concussion. Morneau joins Nishioka (broken leg), Mauer (leg and shoulder injuries), Jim Thome (strained left quadriceps), outfielder Jason Kubel (sprained left foot), reliever Joe Nathan (right elbow), outfielder Denard Span (concussion), reliever Glen Perkins (strained right oblique) and right-hander Kevin Slowey (abdominal strain) on an incredibly bloated disabled list. Morneau said he wasnt sure how he injured his wrist. He said he woke up one morning during the teams previous homestand and it was sore. "It was weird," he said. "I dont know if I aggravated it on a throw up the line because it was a little sore before that. I know it was sometime in the last homestand." The Twins did not immediately announce a makeup date for the rainout, which was the third at Target Field this season. A Twins spokesman said it would not happen during this series, and the White Sox come to town twice more this season, once in August and once in September. On the bright side, Mauer and Nishioka appear to be close to returning from long absences. Nishioka played in just six games before breaking his left leg against the New York Yankees. He was scheduled to play for Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday night and Smith said the Japanese infielder would travel to the Twin Cities on Wednesday assuming all goes well. Perkins was slated to pitch for Rochester on Tuesday night and is scheduled to join Nishioka on the flight to Minneapolis. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said the team has yet to decide where Nishioka will play when he does return, but all signs point to him taking over at shortstop, with the improving Alexi Casilla moving to second base. Mauer has played in only seven games due to various leg and shoulder injuries. He is scheduled to face Nathan in a batting practice session on Wednesday in Fort Myers, Fla., and will be evaluated after that. It is possible the 2009 AL MVP could be back in a uniform by the weekend, but the Twins were not putting a timetable on that. All the injuries have played a major role in the teams stunningly poor start. The two-time defending AL Central champions started the season an MLB-worst 17-37 to fall 16 1/2 games behind the division-leading Indians. "Were close to getting a lot of these guys back and thats going to help this club," Smith said. The short-handed Twins have turned things around over the last two weeks, winning nine of their previous 11 games to cut their deficit to nine games when the day began. Getting Nishioka, Mauer and Perkins, who had emerged as their best reliever before getting hurt, back in the big leagues should only help matters. "We have people that we were counting on heavily and when we get all of our team back out there we expect it to be good," Gardenhire said. "Really good. I hope." NOTES: Former Twins RHP Jesse Crain was back at Target Field for the first time since signing with the White Sox in the off-season. Gardenhire raved about Crains time in Minnesota, including his contributions on the field and in the community. "Total respect here, but now that hes in that uniform, we want to knock the living fire out of him," Gardenhire said with a smile. Nelson Cruz Mariners Jersey . Gustafsson controlled the first round after getting top position on a throw, and came out much more forcefully in the second, buckling Manuwa with a Muay Thai knee, and finishing him off with strikes on the ground. Nelson Cruz Jersey . Harris has played in six games since joining the Argos in 2012, completing 17-of-35 passes for 256 yards and one touchdown.SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Shea Salinas scored in the 15th minute and the San Jose Earthquakes held on to beat the Philadelphia Union 1-0 on Sunday night. Sam Cronin had the assist for the Earthquakes (10-11-7), who won their sixth consecutive home match. Goalkeeper Zac MacMath made four saves for the Union (10-9-9) and the defence kept the game close, turning away more than a dozen attempts on goal. Earthquakes midfielder Rafael Baca was given a second yellow card, forcing San Jose to play a man down for the final 33 minutes. The Union remained in fourth place in the Eastern Conference while the Earthquakes stayed in eighth in the West. San Jose, five points out of a post-season berth, missed a chance to add to its lead in the 62nd minute when it appeared Philadelphias Brian Carroll had a ball hit his right shoulder and then run down his arm in the penalty box. Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch, who also had four saves, kept the Union off the scoreboard with an impressive save in the 79th minute. Felix Hernandez Mariners Jersey. He also punched Carrolls shot clear in the 89th. Philadelphia, which managed a 12-6 edge in attempts on goal in the second half, had several opportunities to tie the score during at least five minutes of stoppage time. Even without Baca, the Earthquakes managed to keep the pressure on, creating several scoring chances. Philadelphia, which had possession of the ball for nearly 75 per cent of the final 25 minutes, attempted its first corner kick in the 83rd minute. San Jose had a 16-2 advantage in corners. The Union have been shutout in three of their last four matches and fell to 4-6-4 on the road. San Jose had a 10-3 edge in attempts on goal and a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks in the first half. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '

TORONTO -- The Canadian Football League has imposed its maximum fine on Montreal Alouettes linebacker Kyries Hebert following an illegal and extremely dangerous tackle while trying to dislodge the football from his opponent. Brooklyn Nets Jersey . Hebert was penalized on the play and ejected from the game. "We are committed to fostering a culture of health and safety in all we do as a league, including the standards we set through player discipline," said Mark Cohon, Commissioner of the Canadian Football League. A hearing took place earlier today that included Hebert, representation from Canadian Football League Players Association (CFLPA), and representation from the CFL including Cohon. Following the hearing and after reviewing the play on video from every available angle, the Commissioner has decided to impose the highest fine allowed under its collective bargaining agreement with the CFLPA, the equivalent of half of a players game cheque. The CFL also announced today the following discipline arising out of Week One of play: Edmonton Eskimo Thaddeus Coleman has been fined for hitting an opponent (with his arm) in the back of the head. Calgary Stampeder Corey Mace has been fined for delivering a punch. Saskatchewan Roughrider Rob Bagg has been fined for delivering a punch. Hamilton Tiger-Cat Craig Butler has been fined for using his helmet to deliver a blow to an opponents helmet. As per league policy, fine amounts are not disclosed. Bojan Bogdanovic Nets Jersey . - The Detroit Lions have placed tight end Brandon Pettigrew on injured reserve, ending his season. Brook Lopez Nets Jersey . Their 9-19 record remains identical to the crosstown rivals in Brooklyn and trails both Toronto and Boston in the Atlantic Division. Raymond Felton, their declining point guard, is back on the sideline nursing his third injury of the season.LOS ANGELES -- The first-place Dodgers have staged plenty of comebacks this season. Just not after seven innings. They snapped an 0-for-46 skid with two runs in the eighth and Clayton Kershaw outdueled Tyson Ross for a 2-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Thursday night. "We need wins no matter what," said Kershaw, whose team is 3 1/2 games ahead of San Francisco. "The Giants are playing better right now." Kershaw (15-3) allowed one run and three hits in eight innings, striking out 10 and walking two. He tied Johnny Cueto, Wily Peralta and Adam Wainwright for the major league lead in victories. The left-hander was originally scheduled to start Friday, but he was moved up to give Zack Greinke extra rest for his sore elbow. "I dont think Ive ever seen anybody like this guy," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "Tomorrow will be on to the next one and hell be on a mission for that. A huge competitor." Pitching on regular rest after Mondays day off, Kershaw bounced back from losing his previous start against Milwaukee after winning his 11 previous decisions. The two-time Cy Young Award winner retired 12 in a row before giving up his first hit -- a single by Ross -- with two outs in the sixth. "My command was lacking the first couple of innings, but I was able to keep the pitch count down," Kershaw said. Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth to earn his 36th save. Ross (11-12) held his own against Kershaw, retiring 12 straight after giving up his second hit in the third. The right-hander allowed two runs and four hits in eight innings, struck out eight and walked two. "You want to be out there battling the other guy and putting up zeroes and pitching deep into games," Ross said. "Kershaws having an MVP-type year, and he was just a little better." Carl Crawford reached on an infield single to the mound leading off the eighth and Turner followed with his fourth homer into the left-field pavilion, putting the Dodgers ahead 2-1. "That was one of the most exciting moments of my career," Turner said. Chris McCullough Jersey. "We just try to pull together. Carl puts together a good at-bat. I caught a mistake off Ross." Ross said, "It was just a hung slider and he put a good swing on it. Unfortunately, there was a guy on first base and it was enough to take the lead rather than just be tied up." Turner was 2 for 3 and is batting .362 with eight RBIs and eight runs scored in 17 games this month. The Padres led 1-0 on Rene Riveras RBI single in the seventh. Los Angeles took two out of three against San Diego, and has won its last eight series against NL West opponents. Kershaw beat the Padres for the fourth consecutive time and improved to 11-6 against them in his career. DOMINANT DODGERS They are 20-12 against the Padres since the start of last season, with an 8-1-1 series record. TOUGH LUCK Ross fell to 0-4 against the Dodgers in his last five starts while receiving a combined three runs of support. He has a 2.67 ERA against them. "Hes been pitching lights-out," Kershaw said. "He doesnt give much. His slider-fastball combination is pretty unbelievable." TRAINERS ROOM Padres: Closer Joaquin Benoit had been bothered by shoulder problems, but he will avoid a DL stint. Manager Bud Black said Benoit could return Friday if hes feeling as good as he was on Thursday; if not, he will be ready on Saturday. Dodgers: Mattingly said he believes Greinkes elbow isnt going to be a long-term problem. Infielder Juan Uribe, on the DL with a right hamstring strain, has resumed baseball activities. Pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu, on the DL with a right oblique strain, is doing well. ON DECK Padres: Odrisamer Despaigne (11-11, 2.70 ERA) starts the opener of a three-game series at Arizona. He made seven minor league starts after signing with the team on May 2. Despaigne is the second Cuban-born pitcher to appear in a game for the Padres and the first to make a start. Dodgers: Struggling Dan Haren (10-10, 4.59) takes the mound in the series opener against the Mets. Last weekend, he allowed six runs on five hits in three innings in a 7-2 loss to Milwaukee. Wholesale Jerseys China' ' '

DUBLIN, OHIO – It was his year-long goal to make the team and now that hes here and wearing the International colours, Graham DeLaet looks positively giddy. T.J. McDonald Rams Jersey . As he toured around Muirfield Village on Tuesday, DeLaet was all smiles, drinking in the atmosphere and getting to know his teammates that much better. "Its been so much fun," he said after his round. "Its exceeded everything and its only Tuesday. Just getting together [Monday] night, we had a great time. Its going to be an amazing week. Obviously its going to be a hell of a lot better if we win." DeLaet is watching and learning and trying to feel the camaraderie. Hes been playing table tennis in the team room, watching a little football with the boys and unwrapping all the swag that comes with a spot on the team. "Its been cool," he said. "My wife has gotten more free stuff than I have, so she is really excited." DeLaet said his wife received some Lululemon workout clothes, Hunter boots and "a lot more stuff that I dont really know what it is. But shes excited about it." If the timing works, DeLaet said hed also try to expose some of his teammates to a great Canadian pastime, NHL hockey. The Columbus Blue Jackets play the Calgary Flames – DeLaets team – here Friday night and it appears a group might head into town to catch some of the action. However, first and foremost this week is golf and DeLaet will be counted on to help the Rest Of The Worlders try to end this stretch of losing to the Yanks. He arrived at the Jack Nicklaus course at the end of a long and successful season that saw him shoot up the Official World Golf Ranking from 178th at the start of the year to 32nd. With great ball-striking and tremendous accuracy, hes rightfully earned his spot among the games best. Even though his shots seemed a little loose on the course Tuesday – he attributed that to his timing being off after a travel day – he was still impressive to his captain, Nick Price. "Hes probably rounded off a few of the rough edges that he had in the first couple of years as a professional," Price said. "Hes learned how to play the game, and he plays it so beautifully. I mean, hes a great driver of the ball, great ball striker. So it was easy to find him someone to play with to be honest. Its great, we really needed a Canadian on the team, too." On Tuesday, DeLaet was in a group with Jason Day, Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen. With the two South Africans almost joined at the hip, expect to see a team of Day and DeLaet at some point. "Theres nothing set in stone," the Canadian said. "You know, the captain put these together for us to play together and see how everyone gelled." Price has polled his players, asking whom they wanted to play with and said he has a pretty good idea of his lineup that will start Thursday. Hes hoping it will be one that can stop the International slide in this event thats turned it into a bit of a snooze-fest, compared to the tension-filled drama of the Ryder Cup. For now, the Internationals are talking a good game and perhaps fueled by the naivety of the seven rookies, filled with bravado. "I think guys have confidence," DeLaet said of his side. "You have to. To come in here and not believe in yourselves, I mean, you have no chance of winning. Were all playing with confidence and speaking confidently every time. We have got each others back." Marshall Faulk Rams Jersey . As each game passes (each has played close with the exception of last night) it becomes clearer just how evenly matched these two teams are and how one mistake, or one bad inning, is likely to sway the result. William Hayes Rams Jersey . With one penalty, Fourcade finished in 24 minutes, 58.2 seconds, just nine-tenths of a second ahead of Timofey Lapshin, who shot clean in the cold.MINNEAPOLIS -- Ubaldo Jimenez struck out a season-high 10 over seven-plus scoreless innings for his first win with Baltimore, and Nelson Cruz hit a two-run home run to pad his lead for the Orioles in a 3-0 victory on Friday over the Minnesota Twins. Jimenez (1-4) allowed only three hits while taking a significant step forward from five rough starts to begin his $50 million, four-year contract with the Orioles. Jimenez dropped his ERA from 6.59 to 5.19, after leaving with one out in the eighth following Eduardo Escobars double. Zach Britton stranded the runner with a groundout and a called third strike on Joe Mauer, and Tommy Hunter picked up his eighth save in nine tries by pitching the ninth. Trevor Plouffe led off with a double, but Hunter struck out the next two and ended the game on a groundout. Ricky Nolasco (2-3) gave the Twins a complete game, giving up nine hits and one walk while striking out six for his eighth career nine-inning appearance. Cruz doubled in the fourth, scoring on a double by Matt Wieters, before his soaring drive into the third deck above left field followed a leadoff single by Manny Machado in the sixth inning. Cruz, who entered the night tied for fourth in the league in homers, has gone deep eight times already with his new team. The sign that this would be Jimenezs night came in the third inning, when the first two Twins he faced reached base. The 30-year-old right-hander with the herky-jerky delivery dug in and struck out the side after that: Brian Dozier, Mauer and Plouffe. From the third into the eighth, Jimenez retired 16 of 17 batters, with the only outlier a fielding error by second baseman Jonathan Schoop that put Escobar on with two outs in the fifth. Jimenez, who threw a season-high 118 pitches, had issued 17 walks in 27 1-3 innings over those prior five starts. Threee runs allowed was his lowest total. Jack Youngblood Rams Jersey. Nolasco, who received the richest deal the Twins have ever given a free agent from another team, likewise has had a rocky start to the $49 million, four-year contract he signed with the club. But only on the road, where the right-hander has taken the mound four times. In two turns at Target Field, Nolasco has allowed just four runs on 14 hits and two walks in 17 innings. These were two tired teams taking the field, each forced into a doubleheader the day before by wet weather prior to that. The Orioles swept the Pittsburgh Pirates in Baltimore on Thursday and arrived in Minneapolis around 5:30 a.m. The Twins had the benefit of being at home, but after a Wednesday night game that lasted 3:38 they were swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday in games that took 3:01 and 5:11. The last one, the longest game in five seasons at Target Field, took 12 innings. NOTES: The Orioles will send LH Wei-Yin Chen (3-1, 4.34 ERA) to the mound on Saturday afternoon, and RH Kevin Correia (0-3, 7.33 ERA) will pitch for the Twins. Chen has won both of his road starts this year. Correia gave up eight runs in only 2 1-3 innings in his last turn. ... Correia went down to the bullpen as the emergency pitcher in case the game kept going the night before. Was he warming up, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was asked? BOSTON -- New Orleans reserve forward Ryan Anderson was taken from the court on a stretcher after colliding with Bostons Gerald Wallace in the fourth quarter on Friday night. Nolan Ryan Jersey . The Celtics said a preliminary diagnosis indicated a "cervical stinger." He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. "I cant really disclose that stuff," Pelicans coach Monty Williams said after the game. "We are just praying for his health. He looked like he was OK. I was more worried about his mother. I know shes at home, a nervous wreck, so hopefully she hears this message and is cool with the fact that hes OK and in good hands." Anderson and Wallace collided near the Celtics basket with 11:02 to play. They both went to the floor hard. Anderson remained on his back as he was being checked by the teams trainer and a Celtics doctor before a stretcher was summoned. "It was tough," teammate Anthony Davis said. "Its a sad situation. You dont want to see one of your guys go down, especially one of your leaders. We just prayed for him, but at the same time weve got to try and win the game." After about a 5-minute delay, he was put in a back brace and then on a stretcher before being wheeled off to applause from the TD Garden crowd. Both teams came out and surrounded him when the stretcher was brought out. Anderson had 13 points and seven rebounds before leaving. "I know what hes going through, the thought process," Wallace said. "I mean, I know the whole process of him lying on the floor waiting on a stretcher to come get you. So my whole thing was just the activity to see him fall, see him moving." Wallace said Anderson told him he was OK. "He said he was all right," Wallace said. Prince Fielder Jersey . ST. LOUIS -- Michael Wacha is glad hes graduated to a pennant race. After finishing his college career at Texas A&M just over a year ago, the rookie pitched seven shutout innings and drove in two runs as the St. Louis Cardinals routed the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-2 Sunday for a three-game sweep. The Cardinals outscored Pittsburgh 26-10 overall in taking the NL Central lead. "It helped me going to A&M and playing in those big-time games and I guess gets me prepared for it," Wacha said. "So I just try not to think too much. I go out there and try to go out there and just trust myself. It ended up working out pretty well." The Pirates arrived at Busch Stadium this weekend with a 1 1/2-game division lead and a chance to cement their first winning season since 1992. They left trailing the Cardinals by 1 1/2 games and still stuck on 81 victories. This was the last time this season Pittsburgh and St. Louis were scheduled to play. Wacha (3-0) allowed two hits and walked two, both of which were erased on double plays. He struck out two and never had more than one runner on at a time. Wacha hasnt allowed a run in 19 2-3 consecutive innings. "A young pitcher coming in and just staying within himself, really establishing the strike zone early," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. "It seemed like he made some really good pitches as he got deeper into the game. Hes just making pitches all day. Its impressive." Pittsburgh starter Charlie Morton (7-4) left with discomfort in his left foot in the second inning. He allowed five runs on six hits and two walks in 1 2-3 innings. Morton left for Pittsburgh before the game was over and wont join the team in Texas where it starts a three-game series Monday. Manager Clint Hurdle said he didnt know the extent of Mortons injury. Hurdle said Morton was hurt when he was backing up a base. "We werent sharp in any particular area of the game all weekend," Hurdle said. "They were much sharper than us across the board. Its very difficult to win a game when you are not functioning." Morton hadnt surrendered more than two runs since the Cardinals tagged him for five in a 13-0 victory on Aug. 1 in Pittsburgh. He went on to win his next three decisions over five starts, including a no--decision after giving up two runs in seven innings on Aug. Cole Hamels Jersey. 13 at St. Louis. Wacha got his second career hit with a single up the middle on the first pitch he saw from Vin Mazzaro in a four-run fifth that scored David Freese and Matt Adams. St. Louis used 10 batters in the 28-minute inning -- exactly how long Wacha needed to get through six innings of pitching. "That was a lot of fun," Wacha said of his hit. "I told myself that I was going to hop on the first heater. I was able to sneak it by the shortstop up the middle. I was pretty fired up about that." Wacha also helped set up a three-run second with a sacrifice bunt that pushed Pete Kozma to third in front of consecutive doubles from Matt Carpenter and Jon Jay. Jay scored on Mortons final offering, a wild pitch that bounced just in front of the left-handed batters box. The Cardinals jumped in front with two runs in the first. Carpenter and Jay singled to start the inning and Matt Holliday walked to load the bases. Carlos Beltran hit a sacrifice fly and Yadier Molina had an RBI grounder. "We all knew what was at stake," Carpenter said. "This is the last time we get to play these guys, so it was a big series. I couldnt be happier with the way it played out. Not just the fact that we won all three, but the fashion that we won all three. Really dominated, I feel like, every aspect of the game." Pittsburgh scored twice in the ninth off reliever Sam Freeman. Garrett Jones hit an RBI double and Gaby Sanchez had a sacrifice fly. Jones said Wacha had the Pirates guessing all day. "He has deception," he said. "That downward angle can be tricky. He was able to hit his spots and he has a good arm." NOTES: Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen singled in the seventh to extend his hit streak to seven games. ... Carpenters single in the first was his 99th hit at home this season, a single-season record for the current Busch Stadium. ... Pittsburgh 3B Pedro Alvarez committed his major league-leading 27th error in the seventh, allowing pinch-hitter Brock Peterson to reach. ... WASHINGTON -- Alex Ovechkin was back on the ice -- and he put the puck in the net, too. Martin Maldonado Brewers Jersey . Guys such as Jason Chimera, Mathieu Perreault and Joel Ward contributed goals. Goalie Michal Neuvirth allowed only one. And lo and behold, the Washington Capitals actually managed to avoid falling behind early. Yes, the Capitals were at home, where they are a vastly different team. And yes, they were facing the lowly Montreal Canadiens. Still, what mattered most was that Washington began what could be a pivotal few days for the future of the franchise by beating Montreal 4-1 Friday night to snap a three-game losing streak. "Our guys try and win. They play hard most nights. We were due for one, maybe. We were due for a good hockey game," Capitals forward Brooks Laich said. "And we got one at a good time." Given that the Capitals won only one of their past seven games, and four of their past 15 -- dropping them from first place to third in the Southeast Division, and to 10th in the Eastern Conference entering Friday -- they were in need of a strong performance. They delivered against Montreal, which has lost three games in a row, is in last place in the East and isnt exactly playing inspired hockey. "Taking penalties at bad times. The power plays ineffective. Its frustrating, for sure," Montreal forward Erik Cole said. On Saturday, Washington plays at the Toronto Maple Leafs -- the teams are tied with 65 points, on the outside looking in at a playoff berth. And then on Monday, the NHL trade deadline arrives. Laich insisted that last part is far from his mind. "If we were 20 points up on everybody, then we would watch it a little bit," Laich said. "But weve got hockey games to win." Capitals general manager George McPhee still needs to decide whether he wants to be a buyer or a seller. McPhee already tried changing coaches this season, firing Bruce Boudreau -- whos found success jump-starting his new employer, the Anaheim Ducks -- and handing the team over to Dale Hunter. "Everybody wants to make their team better. But its somebody elses decision whos going to be traded, whos not," Ovechkin said. "If George is going to do something, I think its going to be better for our club." One thing Washington did better Friday was start well. Some casual defence by the Canadiens allowed Chimera to send a pass across the ice to Perreault, who was pretty much left alone to make it 1-0 at 6:58. That ended a run of six consecutive games in which Washington trailed 1-0 -- in four of their previous five games, the Capitals fell behind 2-0. "We talked about it before the game," Neuvirth said. "We needed a good start." He made 30 saves, although he did allow the first goal Montreal has scored against Washington since March 15, 2011. Rene Bourques short-handed breakaway goal 3:42 into the third period ended a drought of 260 minutes 14 seconds for the Canadiens against the Capitals, stretching over five games, including three shutouts. Bourques goal came after Ovechkin turned over the puck. "A stupid mistake," Ovechkin called it. He missed Washingtons previous game, at Ottawa on Wednesday, with a lower-body injury. As it is, the two-time MVP is having what might wind up as his worst NHL season, with only 25 goals and 21 assists so far. He went into Friday with all of four goals in the preceding month. But Ovechkins slapshot from the left circle off Dmitry Orlovs pass got past goalie Carey Price at 8:58 of the second period, while the official scoring for Chimeras breakaway goal still was being announced over the loudspeakers. Ovechkin dropped a knee to the ice and punched a glove to celebrate. "He felt good out there," Hunter said. Asked whether Alex the Great looked 100 per cent fit, Hunter replied: "Oh, yeah. Hes good." After the game, McPhee carried a bag of popcorn as he rode in an elevator from the press box down to the floor where the locker-rooms are. A reporter asked McPhee whether hed be willing to answer questions. McPhee smiled, shook his head, then grabbed a handful of popcorn and walked away. Should be an interesting few days coming up. Washington RW Mike Knuble was a healthy scratch for the fourth time in the past eight games, and D Roman Hamrlik was held out for the second straight game. ... The team had already announced that he would be unavailable for Sunday nights game against the Minnesota Wild, but his status has now been downgraded to "week-to-week." "He has a moderate groin strain and so hes more week-to-week right now," Jets coach Claude Noel told reporters on Sunday morning. "Thats pretty much where hes at. How many weeks? Well just deal with week-to-week. We have to see how it progresses and stuff like that." The 23-year-old Bogosian exited Friday nights win over the Philadelphia Flyers early after incurring the injury. BARCELONA, Spain -- With Cristiano Ronaldo missing his scoring touch, Real Madrid needed defender Pepe to score in the second half to secure a 1-0 victory at Espanyol on Sunday to pull within three points of the Spanish league co-leaders. Pepe was left unmarked to head in Luka Modrics corner kick in the 55th minute, as Cristiano Ronaldo failed to add to his league-leading 20 goals. Ronaldo is favoured to win the FIFAs Ballon dOr on Monday over Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery. The Portugal forward uncharacteristically wasted two clear scoring chances, while goalkeeper Kiko Casilla denied him on another three occasions. "The win is important because winning on the road is key to winning the league," said Pepe, who defended Ronaldo despite his off day. "I would vote for Cristiano because what he did last year is very important and he deserves it." Third-place Madrid took full advantage of Saturdays scoreless draw between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, which left them level at the top of the table at the leagues halfway mark. "The important thing today was to cut into Barcelona and Atleticos lead," said Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti. "We have to feel satisfied." Also on Sunday, Real Betis remained in last place after slumping to an error-plagued 2-1 loss at home to Osasuna. Rayo Vallecano won 1-0 at Getafes foggy Alfonso Perez Coliseum to end a five-game streak without a win in league play, and Levante edged Malaga 1-0 at home thanks to David Barrals 19th-minute header. Led by striker Jhon Cordoba, Espanyol surged forward at the start and almost took the lead when Christian Stuani steered his point-blank header past the wrong side of the post four minutes in. Madrid weathered Espanyols initial push and turned to Karim Benzema and Ronaldo to provide the attacking threat. Ronaldo scuffed Benzemas pass in the 18th before drawing two awkward saves from Casilla with a powerful strike in the 31st and a dipping free kick in the 37th. Espanyol, which was without suspended forward Sergio Garcia and coach Javier Aguirre, was fortunate to make it to halftime not trailing after Angel Di Maria squandered Madrids four-on-two counterattack seconds before Benzema headed wide in the 42nd. Gordon Beckham Jersey. But Pepe made good on Madrids dominance by thumping Modrics pass under Casilla, who got a hand on the ball but not enough to keep it out of his net. Ronaldo had two more great looks to increase his impressive tally this season, but Casilla bettered him one-on-one in the 82nd before saving Benzemas shot in the 89th and watching Ronaldo fire the rebound wide with the goalmouth beckoning. Nothing went Betis way against Osasuna, a direct relegation rival, in a game both sides finished with 10 men. Betis conceded Roberto Torres header within two minutes, had Jose "Nono" Delgado dismissed with his second yellow card in the 38th, and saw Jordi Figueras score an own goal in the 57th. And when Osasuna goalkeeper Andres Fernandez gave them a sliver of hope in the 62nd when he was red carded for fouling Ruben Castro in the area, Castro deflated the crowd at Benito Villamarin Stadium by sending his penalty kick off the crossbar. Jorge Molina pulled one back in the 80th but Osasuna had two opportunities to widen the margin before the final whistle. The demoralizing loss left Betis winless in its last 12 league matches and seven points from safety. "We took a step backward today," said Betis coach Juan Carlos Garrido. "I wont deny it. It was important to win today, and besides, clearly our first half of the season was very poor. There has to be a radical turnaround in every facet for us to remain in the first division." Osasuna stayed unbeaten in four rounds and edged five points clear of the drop. Rayos win at Getafe still left it in the relegation zone. Forward Alberto Bueno scored what proved to be the winner in the 29th after Alejandro Galvez was quick to cross a rebounded shot. Levante climbed past Malaga into the middle of the standings. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '

LONDON -- Roger Federer could play for another four years and add to his tally of 17 Grand Slam titles, according to former No. Swingman Paul George Jersey . 1 Pete Sampras. Speaking ahead of an exhibition match against Andre Agassi in London on March 3, Sampras said on a conference call Wednesday that he is impressed by Federers longevity. "Im amazed that he is up for more tennis," Sampras said. "He has done everything in the game and he could walk away tomorrow feeling great about it. But he still wants to travel and compete and Im in awe of it. He is a true lover of the sport." Following a disappointing 2013 season marred by back problems, Federer started this year on a high. Now working with new coach Stefan Edberg, he reached the final of his first tournament, at Brisbane, and then made the semifinals of the Australian Open for the 11th consecutive year. His run at Melbourne included wins over 2008 finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Wimbledon champion Andy Murray. Sampras, who retired after winning his 14th Grand Slam title at the 2002 U.S. Open, said Federer should be comforted by a streak that finally ended with a defeat to Rafael Nadal. "I thought his level was quite good," Sampras said. "When youre playing against Rafa and if youre not quite on your game then it can seem like youre struggling. Rafa is a rock. But I do see Roger building from that, I think hes going to do well this year." Asked if Federer could win another Grand Slam title, Sampras said the Swiss "can do it" if he plays his best tennis. "Thats why hes playing, I dont think hes playing for anything else but to win some more majors," said Sampras, adding that Federers best chance would be on his favourite grass surface, at Wimbledon. Sampras was 31 when he decided to hang up his racket for good, while the 32-year-old Federer has hinted he could keep playing until the Rio Olympics in 2016. "As long as Roger is enjoying it and hes healthy, I can see him playing for another two, three, four more years," Sampras said. C.J.
