BOSTON -- Clay Buchholz feels like hes ready for the postsesason. Chris Chester Jersey . He just wont have a perfect record when he gets there. Buchholz lost for the first time this season, and the AL East champion Boston Red Sox rested a couple of regulars while falling to Mark Buehrle and the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-2, on Saturday night. Having missed more than three months with a strained neck, Buchholz feels like his strength is where it was before the injury. He just needs to fine tune a few things. "I feel good. Movement on all the pitches is there," he said. "Its just the command and location and where to start it, which is sometimes hard to get better. The velocity is there and the body feels good." Buchholz (11-1) gave up two earned runs on six hits and two walks in six innings. He had pitched 11 scoreless innings in his previous two starts since coming off the disabled list. A day after the Red Sox clinched the division title, they lost for just the sixth time in 21 games. Manager John Farrell didnt start second baseman Dustin Pedroia and first baseman Mike Napoli, and used starter Ryan Dempster for an inning of relief. Buchholz was the first Boston pitcher to start a season 11-0 in his initial 14 starts since Roger Clemens went 13-0 in 1986. "I thought Clay was pretty sharp and pretty crisp for the time he was out on the mound tonight," Farrell said. "He was fighting to get back out for the seventh, but seeing the progression hes on, I think was a comfortable number of pitches for tonight." Buchholz broke into a slight grin when he was asked about how hard it is to go undefeated for an entire season. "It probably could have easily have happened sooner than now," he said. "The guys that play behind me all year have found ways to come back in situations where I came out of the game behind in the game." Bostons lead over Oakland dropped to 1 1/2 games for the ALs best record and home-field throughout the post-season. Dempster made his first relief appearance since 2007, working a scoreless eighth. Boston third baseman Will Middlebrooks shifted to first for the first time in his career. Jonny Gomes and David Ross each drove in a run for the Red Sox. Adam Linds RBI double highlighted a three-run fourth that carried the Blue Jays. Buehrle (12-9) held Boston to one run for the third time in five starts that hes faced them this year. He allowed five hits, striking out five without walking a batter. He reached 200 innings for the 13th straight season. "Wish it was in a better situation," Buehrle said of reaching the mark again. Manager John Gibbons was impressed by the left-handers season. "Steady Eddy," Gibbons said. "Doing what he has been doing his whole career. You get 25 Buehrles and you are probably gonna have a good year." Casey Janssen pitched the ninth for his 33rd save in 35 chances. Torontos Munenori Kawasaki was ejected by first base umpire Eric Cooper in the eighth after slamming his helmet when he was called out on a close play. The Blue Jays scored all three runs with two outs in the fourth after Brett Lawrie beat out a routine grounder to short for an infield hit. Lind followed with an RBI double, Rajai Davis added a run-scoring single and Moises Sierra scored from third on Buchholzs errant pickoff throw to first. Gomes RBI single cut it to 3-1 in the sixth. Ross run-scoring grounder sliced it to 3-2 in the seventh after Xander Bogaerts reached second on Lawries fielding error at third base. J.P. Arencibia snapped an 0-for-27 stretch with an RBI single off the Green Monster in the Toronto ninth. NOTES: Pedroia had started 151 of the teams initial 152 games. He pinch-hit in the seventh and struck out. "The hardest thing is hes not going to know what to do," Farrell said, joking before the game. "He may end up back on the field because we want to get him the heck out of the dugout." ... Middlebrooks knew things would be a different in his debut at first. "Ive never played first in my life," he said, standing on the field after batting practice. "The hardest thing for me is going to be how to try and hold the runners on, which way to stand with my footwork." ... Red Sox CF Jacoby Ellsbury, sidelined for his 14th straight game with a broken small bone in his right foot, ran and hit in the cage. The club is planning for his return before the end of the regular season. ... Julio Jones Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. http://www.authenticfalconsteamstore.com/Youth-Malliciah-Goodman-Elite-Jersey/ . Woodson said during a radio interview Thursday that the Knicks Carmelo Anthony doesnt get the same calls as other superstars. Two Canadian snowboarders who were critical of Shaun Whites decision to pull out of the Olympic slopestyle competition were among eight riders who qualified Thursday for the events final. Max Parrot posted the days best score, a 97.50 in his second run. Sebastien Toutant also made it through to Saturdays final as the Sochi Olympics opened with one of the new events debuting at the games. White, the American star known for his daring halfpipe tricks, withdrew from the event on Wednesday, saying he wanted to concentrate on winning his third straight gold medal in the halfpipe. He hurt his wrist during a training run on Tuesday but initially indicated he would not miss the event. His decision to withdraw was mocked by Parrot and Toutant on social media. In a since-deleted tweet, Parrot said he thought White was "scared" to compete and "knows he wont be able to win the slopes." "I just think me and Seb said something all the other riders would have loved to tell, but maybe are scared to tell," Parrot told TSN on Thursday. "He choked a couple contests this year with not really good reasons. With him here he has the potential to be...Why choke on it for nothing?" Toutant tweeted, "Its easy to find excuses to pull out of a contest when you think you cant win." Toutant also deleted his message, but clarified his stance after his runs on Thursday. "I think its sad for alll Americans who trained hard for that spot," he added. Sean Weatherspoon Jersey. "Cant replace him - pretty sad. If you think its too dangerous, go do something else." The slopestyle course drew criticism as being potentially dangerous and was modified after Norways Torstein Horgmo broke his collarbone on Monday. The event, making its Olympic debut, features riders doing tricks over rails and jumps, like skateboarders in a city park only down a snow-covered trail. Parrots first run was smooth, but for a dragged hand at the end of one of his jumps, and drew a score of 91.75. The reigning Winter X Games gold medalist was better on his second run, which had few obvious flaws. Toutant scored a 74.25 on his first run and qualified through his second with a score of 87.25. Canadian Mark McMorris, a two-time X Games gold medalist, fell on his first run and will have to qualify through the semifinals. McMorris, who suffered a broken rib at the X Games last month, pulled off a triple-cork on his second run but earned an 89.25, not among the four best riders in his heat. Americans Sage Kotsenburg, Ryan Stassel and Charles Guldemond will also have to try to qualify through the semifinals, which are Saturday. Moving directly to the final with Parrot and Toutant were Norways Staale Sandbech and Gjermund Braaten, Finlands Peetu Piiroinen and Roope Tonteri, Great Britains Jamie Nicholls and Swedens Sven Thorgren. BUFFALO, N. Saucony Shadow Original Grey .Y. -- None too happy about Paul Ranger trying to kick the puck past him in the shootout, Buffalo Sabres goaltender Jhonas Enroth slashed the Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman as he skated by. "My first reaction was that he tried to embarrass me there a little bit, but when I look at it now, its good (the) guys trying to be creative, I guess," he said. Enroth had plenty of time to think because the shootout went an incredible 15 rounds, including 29 combined shooters who didnt score a goal. When it was over the Leafs had a 3-2 victory Saturday night thanks to Jay McClements winner, but the Sabres got their kicks out of the pre-season marathon. "At one point I think both refs were just going to call it a draw and kind of pick up the puck and go home and be old-school NHL there for a second and call it a tie," Sabres forward Steve Ott said. "But both performances by both goalies in the shootout was pretty spectacular to watch. Ive never seen that before." Leafs goaltender James Reimer stopped all 15 shots he saw after making 38 saves in regulation and overtime. Reimer went 0 for 5 in shootouts last season with a .625 save percentage, and wasnt making much of this. "Its good to get out there and for me to stop some pucks and for guys to get some reps, but its exhibition and its a little looser," Reimer said. "I think its a little different when its during a game and two points are on the line." Ranger probably wouldnt have tried this in a real game. He learned his "kick shot" from a friend at the age of 10 or 11 and perfected it enough that it beat goalies in practice plenty. "Its gotten to the point where I can rip it pretty good, I feel like," he said. "The cool part of it is I have no idea where its going, and the goalie doesnt either because I sure dont." Asked about Enroths slash and the idea that it was not the right thing to do, Ranger said: "Not the right thing to do? Im trying to score. Quite honestly its fun and, to be honest, Im not trying to show boat, and if he thought that, then it is what it is. Whatever." Ott gave Ranger credit for the kick being a "pretty heavy shot." But it was a deke by McClement that finally ended things. "A lot of light-heartenedness taking place on the bench," Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said. "A lot of guys betting on Jay, so we waited right till the end." Before the shootout, the game had the chippiness normally reserved for the regular season. It featured three fights, including Troy Bodie taking on Patrick Kaleta after the Sabres agitator went after captain Dion Phaneuf. From the Leafs perspective, Ott started the trouble before that dust-up. "I think Ott intentionally shot the puck at Dion," Carlyle said. "Thats what it appeared from where we were. Those are the kind of things that in exhibition are kind of questionable at this point." The Leafs and Sabres played on the edge all night. Carlyle said it the 15-round was something he had never seen before, but even for those with similar experiences this was something unique. "We had one in Rochester, I think we went through everybody except for maybe Joe Finley. I think we had a call-up score," Rolston said. "(This one) was bizarre, especially with no goals." SINGAPORE -- Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel claimed pole position for the Singapore Grand Prix, besting his fading championship rivals Saturday despite gambling on skipping the last flying lap of qualifying. Already boasting a big lead in the Formula One drivers championship standings, Vettel sat out the last section of qualifying under the lights at Marina Bay in order to save a set of the super soft tires for the race. The decision looked questionable as Mercedes Nico Rosberg, Red Bull teammate Mark Webber and Lotus Romain Grosjean all began strongly on their final laps and threatened to tip Vettel out of top spot. Vettel was chewing his fingernails watching on the monitors in the garage and pumped his fist when he saw his time had stood up, as Rosberg finished a tenth of a second behind him in second. Grosjean, Webber and Mercedes Lewis Hamilton were third through fifth respectively, all within half a second of Vettel, who notched his fifth pole position of the season. "I knew we had a cushion, that is why we decided not to run," Vettel said. "The thing you dont know is how much the track improves. It was very close and its not the best feeling when you are standing there and watching. "Im very happy with the result, the car has been phenomenal all weekend." Rosberg described second place as "a great result," but said the thin margin between his time andd that of Vettel was a bit misleading. Saucony Trainers Sale UK. "They (Red Bull) gambled a bit and I am sure they are a bit quicker than that last time, if Sebastian used another set of tires," Rosberg said. Grosjeans third place matched his best qualifying performance of the season, made all the more impressive by the fact that his more accomplished teammate Kimi Raikkonen was a lowly 13th. With Raikkonen moving on to Ferrari next season, Grosjean is auditioning for a team leader role, but is also aware he is not guaranteed a seat with Lotus next year. "I dont really care (about beating Raikkonen)," Grosjean said. "My relationship with Kimi has always been not very speaky. I am just focused on what I have to do and we will see." Ferrari pair Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso qualified in sixth and seventh place respectively, with McLarens Jenson Button eighth, Toro Rossos Daniel Ricciardo ninth and Saubers Esteban Gutierrez a career-best 10th, bettering his previous high of 14th. Vettel, who is on track for a fourth straight world championship, is aiming for his third straight victory at Marina Bay, where pole sitters have a marked advantage on the tight and twisty race circuit. "Its tricky to pass on this track but because its such a long race, there are plenty of opportunities for all of us, and usually we get a safecty car this race," Vettel said. LOUIS -- Attorneys for the St. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Andy Dorman and Kelyn Rowe scored in the second half to lead the New England Revolution to a 2-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City in the first leg of their Eastern Conference semifinals series on Saturday night. Dorman put the Revolution on the scoreboard in the 55th minute, while Rowe made it 2-0 in the 67th. Aurelien Collin pulled Sporting within one in the 69th. "I thought it was a hard-fought battle between two teams fighting for everything," Revolution coach Jay Heaps said. "It certainly wasnt a pretty game, but (rather) two teams pushing hard and two teams trying to get ahead in the playoffs." The Revolution, appearing in the post-season for the first time since 2009, entered the match with a 501-minute regular season goal drought against Sporting Kansas City, a streak that reaches back to the 2011 season. The Revolution spent much of the first half trying to find their rhythm and ending the streak. "We played with a lot of discipline, and we were very well organized," Sporting goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen said. "We forced their back four to play the long balls up to the striker, our centre backs won the ball, and our midfielders were good on the second balls. The Revolution had to survive an early scare before they were able to step on the gas. In the 18thh minute, Graham Zusis corner kick found Chance Myers, who headed the ball toward the goal before Lee Nguyen cleared it off the line. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Jersey. "Some games, we put two players on the post and sometimes, we put one player on the post," Heaps said. "But tonight, we made the right call and put two players on the post." After a first half filled with erratic play from both teams, the Revolution were able to break through early in the second half. Diego Fagundez blasted a shot that was initially saved by Nielsen before the rebound fell to Juan Agudelo. The Revolution striker was able to direct on frame and Dorman tapped it through. Rowe made it a two-goal advantage 12 minutes later when Nguyen slid it toward him and his touch redirected it into the back of the net. Sporting struck back two minutes later. Amid a chaotic fight for the ball inside the Revolution box, Collin was able to steer C.J. Sapongs ball into the net. "I think we showed how strong this team is to come back, and that goal gave us a good life line," Nielsen said. The clubs will play the second leg of the series on Wednesday at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan. The team with the most aggregate goals in the two matches will advance to the conference finals against the winner of the New York-Houston matchup. VAL THORENS, France -- Canadas Marielle Thompson can rest easy knowing that she has locked up a spot for Sochi. Teammates Kelsey Serwa, Dave Duncan and Brady Leman are virtual locks to join her. As for the rest of the Canadians on the deep national skicross team, they have a long, anxious weekend of waiting ahead of them. The Olympic qualification window for skicross closes Sunday, so Fridays race served as the last chance for Canadians to qualify for nomination. The 26-athlete freestyle team roster for the Winter Games will be announced Monday. Skicross is one of five disciplines that fall under the freestyle umbrella so inclusion could be tough. There are several World Cup events scheduled for this weekend so it remains unclear who will make the cut. "Im sure a lot of (the athletes) will have empty stomachs depending on where they sit on that bubble," Canada Ski Cross director Dave Ellis said on a conference call. "Depending whos in the rankings behind them and how they perform, thats going to make a difference for sure." Thompson, from Whistler, B.C., won gold Friday at the FIS Audi Val Thorens World Cup to extend her lead atop the womens overall standings. "I didnt really feel anyone too close to me today," she said. Duncan, from London, Ont., moved back on top of the mens standings with a bronze medal. Leman, from Calgary, took fourth place and Montreal resident Chris Del Bosco was fifth. "The competition from within the team is what drives the success, so its fun," said head coach Eric Archer. Del Bosco won gold in the first of back-to-back races a day earlier. The race was cut short due to high winds so the veteran skier was given top spot due to his strong performance in the qualifications and first heat. Del Bosco, who finished fourth at the 2010 Games in Vancouver, has struggled this season. He had not cracked the top 10 until this week and it remains to be seen whether he has done enough to get a spot on the Sochi nomination list. "I did pretty much everything I could this weekend to give myself a shot," Del Bosco said. "At the end of the day thats all I can really do." Danielle Sundquist of Calgary and Georgia Simmerling of West Vancouver, B.C., are also on the bubble. Sundquist finished fifth on Friday and Simmerling was seventh. Serwa skipped Fridays race. The qualification process is very complicated. Athletes from slopestyle, aerials, moguls and halfpipe will also be included on the freestyle team and Canada is strong in all of those events. Of the 26 spots available in the five disciplines, there can be no more than 14 selections from either gender. The selection committee will look at results from previous years but performances this season have the biggest impact. The depth of the national skicross team and the Canadian freestyle team as a whole leaves athletes who are on the bubble in a tough spot. Some very talented competitors simply arent going to make the cut. The Montreal Canadiens return home to the Bell Centre to face the Carolina Hurricanes for the second straight night. The Habs, who beat the Hurricanes 6-0 Friday night at the Colisee Pepsi in Quebec City, have decided to keep some of their young players in the lineup once again. Jarred Tinordi, Greg Pateryn, Michael McCarron, Magnus Nygren, Sebastian Collberg, Michael Bournival, Christian Thomas and Darren Dietz are among the prospects head coach Michel Therrien decided to dress for a second consecutive night. Veteran players likes Tomas Plekanec, Rene Bourque and Andrei Markov wwill make their first appearance this pre-season.dddddddddddd. "I think the coaching staff wanted to wait a little longer to play us older guys so they can have a better look at the younger players," Bourque said after taking part in the Habs morning skate. Travis Moens name has been added to the injured list after missing practice for the second time on Saturday. The Canadiens confirmed that Moen is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Francis Bouillon rejoined his team Saturday morning after missing Thursdays practice with a lower-body injury as well. PHOENIX -- Matt Barnes knows shooting nights like this are rare moments to be savored. Rodolfo Pizarro Mexico Jersey . The 11-year NBA veteran scored 18 of his 28 points in the third quarter and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Phoenix Suns 104-96 Tuesday to match their season best of five victories in a row. Barnes made 12 of his first 13 shots and scored 16 points in the first 5:09 of the third quarter. "I felt like I got good looks every time," he said. "I found a little bit of space and was able to get the shot up. Every time it left my hands it felt good. One of those nights." Blake Griffin added 22 points and Darren Collison had 18 for Los Angeles. DeAndre Jordan had 10 points and 17 rebounds and blocked Goran Dragics layup try with the Suns still in it with 41 seconds to go. P.J. Tucker scored 18 and Gerald Green 17 on 6-of-19 shooting for the Suns, who played without centre Miles Plumlee (right knee sprain). They also lost guard Leandro Barbosa to a broken left hand in the first half. Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said Barbosa would be out four to six weeks. After Jordans block, his two free throws sealed it at 101-94 with 39.5 seconds left. Phoenix led by as many as 12 in the third quarter and trailed by as many as 15 in the fourth before cutting it to three late. Trailing 61-49, Los Angeles outscored the Suns 32-10 to take an 81-71 lead on Barnes layup after a Clippers offensive rebound with 38.9 seconds to go in the third quarter. Markieff Morris scored to cut Los Angeles lead to 81-73 entering the fourth. Barnes shot 7 of 7 for 18 points in the third quarter. Griffin added 12 in the period. The Clippers won despite a 4-for-14 shooting night from Chris Paul. Dragic, his Phoenix counterpart, was 5 for 14. They had nine assists apiece. "It is not going to be Blake and Chris every night," Barnes said. "We have a deep team and you have to be accountable for everybody and we have been showing that lately." Clippers coach Doc Rivers credited his teams second-half defence. "The second quarter was horrendous," he said. "But then I thought our defence, to hold them to 39 points in the second half -- everybody was in the right spots. We were rotating, and we played with intensity." Los Angeles built its biggest lead at 90-75 on Jared Dudleys layup with 8:48 left. Phoenix got back in it with an 11-0 run. Morris scored on a baseline dunk, then followed with a 3-pointer that cut the Clippers lead to 90-86 with 6:31 left. Green was 3 for 16 before making two 3s and bouncing in a 16-footer to cut the lead to 97-94 with 2:37 to go. Griffin made a fadeaway 13-footer with 2:09 left. "The third quarter, they were more physical, especially on defence," Dragic said. "We were catching the ball way out and we didnt get open shots. They just played hard defence, like we should do." Early on, Phoenix dominated. The Suns outscored the Clippers 16-2 over the final 3 1/2 minutes of the first quarter and the opening 1:45 of the second to lead 30-24 after newcomer Shavlik Randolph made one of two free throws with 10:15 left in the half. Dragic got his offence in gear in the final 1:19 of the half. He sank a 3-pointer, stole Barnes pass for a layup, then fed Alex Len for a layup as Phoenix used a 9-2 run to lead 55-44 at the break. Schenn scored the game-winning goal and added two assists to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-1 win over the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Tuesday.EDMONTON -- Ilya Bryzgalov once compared Edmonton to the North Pole. Now hes trying to help the Oilers find some direction. The free-agent goaltender agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Oilers on Friday, pending the completion of a trade with the Calgary Flames that cleared defenceman Ladislav Smids US$3.5-million cap hit off the books. It was not immediately clear what Bryzgalovs contract was worth, but a source said recent negotiations involved discussions about a pro-rated $3-million salary. The Philadelphia Flyers bought out of the final seven years of Bryzgalovs $51-million, nine-year contract last off-season. The 33-year-old goaltender went to training camp with the ECHLs Las Vegas Wranglers on a tryout but never signed a deal with that club. In Bryzgalov, general manager Craig MacTavish told the Oilers official website that the team was getting a goalie with a "history of being a high-performer in parts of his career" and whos "very motivated." "I believe in the power of the potential of people," MacTavish said in an interview with AM-630 in Edmonton. "Hes said and indicated all the right things to me in the conversations that Ive had. I think he has a chance to come in here and make a real impact on our team." Bryzgalov went 19-17-3 with a 2.79 goals-against average and .900 save percentage last season for the Flyers. The Oilers are in Philadelphia to play the Flyers on Saturday, and while Bryzgalov still lives in the area it was not likely that hed even be in uniform. According to reports, Bryzgalov could first go on a conditioning assignment with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL. His last NHL game was April 25. To set up the signing, the Oilers began their shake-up by sending Smid and goaltending prospect Olivier Roy to Calgary in exchange for centre Roman Horak and goaltending prospect Laurent Brossoit. "It was an opportunity to give us some cap (space) to do a few other things and add goaltending depth," MacTavish said, as quoted by the team. "I thank (Smid) for his work ethic and sacrifice on behalf of the hockey club and we wish him well." At 4-11-2, the Oilers are in last place in the NHLs Pacific Division, so the deal does not come as a surprise. Going into Fridays games, Edmonton was ranked last in the league with 3.82 goals-against. Goaltenders Devan Dubnyk, Jason LaBarbera and Richard Bachman were part of that, but there was also a belief the Oilers wanted to shore up their defence. Instead, they traded from their blue-line by dealing Smid to the Flames. The 27-year-old had one goal and one assist in 17 games and averaged more than two minutes a night on the penalty kill. The Oilers were not up against the cap ceiling, though its uncertain what other moves MacTavish has in store. He and president of hockey operations Kevin Lowe have seen scouted the New York Rangers and Flyers recently, but MacTavish expressed satisfaction in the teams recent play. "As bad as our record is, I see plenty of progress and maybe more important plenty of potential in this hockey club,"; MacTavish said on AM-630. Customized Uruguay Jersey. "Certainly no moves imminent and hopefully none for quite some time." Signing Bryzgalov marks a major move for the Oilers, who have a team save percentage of .879 this season. In his NHL career Bryzgalov has a .913 save percentage. His history with the city of Edmonton dates to 2006 when he defended then-Anaheim Ducks teammate Chris Pronger for requesting to be traded from the Oilers. Bryzgalov likened it to the "North Pole." "He may be tried to leave here because here in November months is a minus-32," Bryzgalov said in an interview with The Score. "Could you imagine? Its eight months in a year of snow." When playing for the Phoenix Coyotes amid rumours of the team moving to Winnipeg, Bryzgalov said he wouldnt like to live there because of a lack of parks and fellow Russians. Smid, who was sent from Anaheim to Edmonton as part of the Pronger trade, has 11 goals, 54 assists and 391 penalty minutes over 474 games with the Oilers. "(It was a) difficult trade for me because of the fact that Laddy was such a warrior for the hockey club for so many years here," MacTavish said on AM-630. He is known as a shutdown defenceman and one of the leagues best shot blockers and should help the Flames, who are without captain Mark Giordano (broken ankle) for another five to seven weeks. "We were looking to try to do something before Gio got hurt. We felt we needed to improve the mix of our six," GM Jay Feaster said in Calgary. "Certainly Giordanos injury makes this a more timely addition. Were happy to be able to do it now." Roy was selected in the fifth round, 133rd overall, by Edmonton in 2009. He had a stellar junior career with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the QMJHL, but has yet to suit up for an NHL game. He may get that chance in Calgary. The Flames have struggled for consistency in goal in their first season without Finnish workhorse Miikka Kiprusoff, who retired at the end of last season. Roy, 22, split last season between Oklahoma City and the ECHLs Stockton Thunder. He had a 2-2 record with a 3.29 GAA and .897 save percentage with the Barons this season. Horak, 22, has spent the past three seasons with the Flames, registering five goals, 13 assists and 16 penalty minutes in 82 games. He has 20 goals and 21 assists in 86 games with Abbotsford of the AHL. Horak was originally selected by the New York Rangers in the fifth round, 127th overall in the 2009 draft. Brossoit, 20, has spent the past four seasons with the Western Hockey Leagues Edmonton Oil Kings, posting a record of 88-34-13 in 146 career WHL games. In 2011-12, the native of Port Alberni, B.C., helped lead the Oil Kings to the best record in the WHL, posting a record of 42-13-5, including three shutouts. He went 16-4-0 in the post-season and was named the playoff MVP as the Oil Kings won the WHL championship and earned a berth in the Memorial Cup Tournament. Brossoit was originally selected by the Calgary Flames in the sixth round, 164th overall in the 2011 draft. Hes in his first professional season. TAMPA, Fla. Adam Gotsis Jersey . -- Brian Roberts remembered back a decade ago, when he was standing on second base and Derek Jeter approached. "He just said, "You can hit .300 in this league," Roberts recalled Monday. "To hear it from somebody like that, it kind of opened your eyes." Not that he took Jeters analysis too literally. "I dont think its just me. I think he does it to everybody," Roberts said. "But for some reason when he tells it to you, you think youre the most important person in the world." Now theyre teammates, and Roberts has a locker next to Jeters in the New York Yankees spring training clubhouse. With a void at second base following the departure of Robinson Cano, the Yankees have given the position to Roberts, a two-time All-Star who made five trips to the disabled list totalling 481 days over the past four seasons. His many maladies included a strained abdominal muscle, pneumonia, two concussions (one self-inflicted), a groin strain, hip tear and hamstring strain. "I know he hasnt played a full season in the last few years and hes obviously a guy that has some age on him, too, but my plan is to run him out there almost every day," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. Now 36, Roberts had hoped to be a Baltimore Orioles lifer, just like Brooks Robinson, Jim Palmer and Cal Ripken Jr. "Ive come to love the city, the fans," he said in February 2009 when the Orioles gave him a contract guaranteeing $48 million over five years. "This was the only place I wanted to be the rest of my career." It didnt work out that way. After hitting .283 in 2009 with 16 homers, 79 RBIs and a big league-high 56 doubles, he missed most of the following spring training with a herniated disk in his back. His first concussion was sustained on Sept. 27, 2010, when he knocked himself on the batting helmet with his bat after striking out in the ninth inning at Tampa Bay. His total of 77 games last season was his highest since the injuries began, and the switch-hitter batted .249 with eight homers and 39 RBIs. Baltimore made no effort to keep him after he hit .246 with 15 homers and 78 RBIs over the past four years. The offensive performance would have been decent but not spectacular had he compiled it over a single season. "I dont know that you can necessarily put great words on how frustrating it is to have to sit on the sidelines and watch," Roberts said. "Ive had numerous times over the last three or four years where I wondered if, for one, Id be able to play again, and I think certainly going into last season I had no idea what the next year would hold, whether I would have a job in 2014, whether I wouldnt, whether Id want a job." New York signed him for the bargain price of $2 million, plus the chance to make $2.6 million in bonuses based on plate appearances. Hell be counted on for offence, given that the Yankees had 114 RBIs from second base last year, tops in the majors, according to STATS. "Theres going to be people that will want to look out there and say, Well, hes not Robby. And Im not going to be Robby. Im not going to try to be," Roberts said. "Im going to be Brian Roberts and, hopefully, thats good enough most days." New Yorks infield is more Take A Chance than Tinker-to-Evers-to-Chance. First baseman Mark Teixeira played just 15 games last year because of a hand injury, and Jeters broken ankle limited him to 17. With Alex Rodriguez serving a season-long drug suspension, Kelly Johnson figures to platoon at third with Brendan Ryan, Eduardo Nunez and possibly Scott Sizemore. "Its not the infield that we had in 2009," Girardi said. "But we believe that theres a lot of capable players in here to put up offensive and defensive numbers, and when you look at those numbers as a whole, theyre going to be pretty good." Roberts remains in touch with his former Orioles teammates. "A lot of my closest friends in the world are there. So sure. Ive talked to them all in the last couple days. Is it weird? Is it different? Do I miss them? Yeah," he said before recounting his friendships with Jacoby Ellsbury, Jeter and Brian McCann. After Roberts spent 13 seasons in Baltimores black and orange, the Yankees pinstripes will take getting used to. Like McCann, he heard many people tell him "anybody but the Yankees" when he was a free agent. "You either love them or you hate them, right? And thats OK," he said. "Now I love them." Von Miller Jersey . Los Angeles star goalie survived those perilous gymnastics with no problem, and he eventually backstopped the Kings to a skid-snapping win. Quick stopped 27 shots in his return from a 24-game injury absence, Jeff Carter scored the tiebreaking goal with 7:55 to play, and the Kings snapped their five-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night. The deal, reached on Friday, allows Moorman to return for a 14th season in Buffalo. It also represents a vote of confidence for the two-time Pro Bowl selection, who returned to Buffalo in October following a one-year absence, to replace Shawn Powell. Melbourne, Australia (SportsNetwork. Lance Dunbar Jersey .com) - The women will also have a new champion at the Australian Open. After three-time reigning mens titlist Novak Djokovic lost here on Tuesday, fifth-seeded Pole Agnieszka Radwanska took down two-time defending champion Victoria Azarenka 6-1, 5-7, 6-0 on Wednesday to set up a semifinal match with Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia. "Im so happy and pleased, especially that I beat one of the best players in the world," Radwanska said. "Was not easy draw, not easy quarterfinal. Im very happy that I made my first semifinal here." The second-seeded Azarenkas 18-match winning streak in Melbourne came to a halt on Day 10. She was trying to become the first woman to win the singles title here in three consecutive years, or since Martina Hingis turned the trick from 1997-99. Radwanska, who ended a streak of three consecutive quarterfinal defeats at the Aussie Open, committed just 15 unforced errors compared to 47 for Azarenka. "She was aggressive. She was making everything. She was guessing right. I was just playing a little bit too predictive, you know," Azarenka said. Azarenka had been a dominant 12-3 lifetime against her fellow 24-year-old Radwanska, including a come-from-behind Aussie quarterfinal victory two years ago. Meanwhile, the 20th-seeded Cibulkova cruised past 11th-seeded Romanian Simona Halep 6-3, 6-0 in a match that lasted just 60 minutes to secure her spot in the final four. The 24-year-old Cibulkova, who stunned No. 3 seed Maria Sharapova in the fourth round on Monday, is the first woman from Slovakia to reach the Aussie Open semis since Daniela Hantuchova in 2008. The diminutive Cibulkova improved to 2-3 in quarterfinal matches at Grand Slams, with her other win coming at the 2009 French Open. "That time I was 19 years old. I was pretty young. I would say also a different player. You know, I am much more experienced," Cibulkova said. Halep, who upended former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic in the fourth round, appeared overwhelmed in her Grand Slam quarterfinal debut. "No, just I couldnt play today. I had emotions, big emotions, and I couldnt manage this," she said. "Before the match I was very nervous and I didnt feel the ball at all. I couldnt move my body and I couldnt play." Fourth-seeded Chinese star Li Na and 30th-seeded blossoming 19-year- old Canadian Eugenie Bouchard will meet in the other semifinal on Thursday. The former French Open champion Li is a two-time runner-up at Melbourne Park, including last year against Azarenka. Charles Haley Jersey . Cleanthony Early scored 19 points, Ron Baker added 13 and the second-ranked Shockers rolled to a 68-45 victory over Missouri State on Saturday, easily putting away a team that had given them fits this season. Relying on the same stubborn defence that carried it on last years improbable March run, Wichita State (31-0, 18-0) became the first team since Saint Josephs in 2004 to enter its league tournament unbeaten. The Shockers will have a first-round bye in St. Louis next week. Missouri State (19-11, 9-9) had them in trouble when they met Jan. 11 in Springfield, Mo., but the Bears blew a 19-point second-half lead and ultimately lost 72-69 in overtime. They never came close to making it a game Saturday, trailing by double-digits in the opening minutes. The Shockers are off to the best start since UNLV began 34-0 and lost in the 1991 national title game. Theyre also off to the best start by a Missouri Valley team since Indiana State, led by Larry Bird, won its first 33 games and fell to Michigan State in the 1979 title game. The Shockers last loss came in the Final Four, too -- to eventual champ Louisville last year. Putting this one away early gave a sellout crowd that had braved the threat of freezing rain ample opportunity to celebrate. Waving signs that applauded their unblemished record, fans packed inside Koch Arena serenaded a senior class led by Early that managed tto elevate the program from a solid mid-major into a national power in the midst of a memorable season. Jeff Heath Cowboys Jersey. Along with fellow seniors Chadrack Lufile, Kadeem Coleby and Nick Wiggins, Early gave coach Gregg Marshall a bear hug when he checked out for the final time in the closing minutes. Jarmar Gulley scored 15 points to lead Missouri State, which was dominated on the boards, in transition and just about everywhere else in losing its 10th straight against ranked teams. Unlike the first meeting, when it was Wichita State that stumbled early, Missouri State missed 18 of its first 22 shots, suffocated under token pressure and never got into a rhythm. When the Bears werent blowing layups, they were turning the ball over, leading to some easy baskets at the other end. Wichita State shot 57 per cent from the field in the first half, a big reason why it had built a 20-point lead just before the break. The trio of Early, Baker and Fred VanVleet picked up where it left off out of the locker room, Early scoring quickly and Baker hitting a long 3-pointer to keep Missouri State at bay. In fact, the only interesting moment of the second half came when Lufile was fouled with about 10 minutes to go. After missing his first seven free throw attempts, the big senior forward -- with the crowd rising to its feet -- finally got one to rattle home. Of course, it hardly mattered that Lufiles foul shooting wasnt perfect. Everything else about Wichita State is these days. SPARTA, Ky. Kyle Wilber Cowboys Jersey . -- Ryan Blaney provided more evidence that Penske Racings No. 22 Ford can win no matter whos driving. Blaney earned his first Nationwide Series victory and another win for the teams Mustang, holding off Austin Dillon and surviving several late cautions to win Saturday nights 300-mile race at Kentucky Speedway. Blaney, who drives for Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski in the Camping World Truck Series, used his second start in the No. 22 to claim the cars 10th victory of 2013 and a season sweep at Kentucky. Keselowski drove the car to victory in June. Blaneys win included tense moments over the final 40 laps, from beating Dillon off pit road with a two-tire stop on lap 166 to reclaiming the lead from Dillon after losing it on the restart. More tests followed, including a near-brush with teammate Sam Hornish Jr.s loose Ford and one final restart. "We just had an awesome, awesome Mustang," Blaney said. "The team just kept getting the car better and better and as the race went on. Those restarts were tough. Luckily, I had a good enough car to hold them off." Matt Crafton was third, Hornish fourth and rookie Alex Bowman fifth in a Toyota. Dillon shaved two points off Hornishs series lead and trails by just 15 with six races remaining. Getting closer to Blaney was out of the question for Dillon and just about anyone in contention. Hornish gave it a shot late in the race before that late wiggle left him settling for his 21st top-five finish of the season. Dillon had hope on several restarts, only to let the son of NASCAR veteran Dave Blaney quickly snatch it away on several late restarts. The final one typified the futility: Blaney blasted out on lap 191 to open up a three car-length lead and didnt look back. "He did everything right," Dillon said of Blaneys restarts. "He did everything he could to hold me off and the car was better once he got out front for sure. I felt like if we couldve got out front we could hold him off for eight laps, but disappointed that we couldnt quite clear him." Hornish led 65 laps after starting on the pole, while Dillon led 32. Beating the No. 22 has been tough for everybody this season. Three other drivers have reached victory lane in it this season, including Keselowski, whos racing in this weekends Cup series race in Loudon, N.H. Blaney, who won a Trucks race in Iowa last year, became the fourth in just his 15th start. Crew chief Jeremy Bullins kept him calm and focused over the radio, and the only direction he ever really needed was to victory lane after taking the checkered flag. The points race meanwhile saw little change. Hornish entered Saturday looking to widen his edge on Dillon, who came into the series final stand-alone race seeking his third Nationwide victory in four Kentucky starts. He helped his prospects Saturday afternoon by clocking 179.235 mph to claim his third pole this season and leading Penskes front-row sweep with Blaney (178.159) taking the outside spot. Dillon was close by in the third spot with a run of 178.042 mph in his Chevy. With Cup regulars racing this weekend in New Hampshire, 41 drivers had the track to themselves, and Nationwide contenders did their best to exploit the freedom. Hornish and Dillon in particular looked forward to racing all-out here, with the points leader especially eager to follow up Junes ninth-place run. After the start was delayed briefly to allow track dryers to blow away some weepers, Hornish went about proving how good his Mustang was. He led the first 65 laps before his teammate won the race off pit road during the third caution and led on the restart. Dillon was second and needed only a lap to move in front -- on lap 68 -- and add another chapter to his impressive Kentucky resume. He led the next 32 laps before Blaney took the first of two leads to establish himself as the best driver in the best car. "Im a pretty lucky guy and privileged to have the drivers we have," Bullins said. "I dont think we have any slouches, so I dont have any complaints about my driver lineup. Ive got it pretty good. Tonight was another example of that. "We brought a good car, and we got somebody driving that knows what to do with it and was able to get the job done." L. P. Ladouceur Cowboys Jersey . -- Matt Ryan needed one of the best games of his career to lead the Falcons and their depleted offence out of their three-game losing streak last week. Uniteds eighth defeat of a wretched campaign means Liverpool, which currently occupies the fourth and final Champions League place, could go nine points clear of its fierce rival by beating West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. Charlie Adam scored both of Stokes goals at Britannia Stadium either side of Robin van Persies equalizer, with a miserable day for seventh-place United capped by first-half injuries to centre halves Jonny Evans and Phil Jones that forced them off.VILLARREAL, Spain -- Giovanni Dos Santos scored two goals and set up another pair as Villarreal romped to a 5-1 Spanish league win Monday over familiar foe Real Sociedad. The Mexico striker opened the scoring in the 16th minute before setting up Ikechuwku Uche from the left side in the 27th. Dos Santos created space in the 33rd to unleash a left-footed shot before again picking outt Uche in the 55th for 4-0. Chris Jones Jersey. COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Johnny Football and No. Saucony Grid 9000 For Sale . 10 Texas A&Ms offence dominated as usual against SMU. The difference on Saturday night was that the Aggies defence was solid, too. Johnny Manziel accounted for 346 yards with three touchdowns in just more than a half to help Texas A&M cruise to a 42-13 win over SMU. Texas A&M (3-1) was up 32-6 at halftime, and Manziel led the Aggies to a touchdown on their first drive of the third quarter before the Heisman Trophy winner went to the bench. The defence, which struggled as it dealt with suspensions early this season, had given up 36 points a game through the first three games. Defensive co-ordinator Mark Snyder made some personnel changes this week to help the Aggies improve. "Weve still got some areas weve got to work on, but a much better game from our side of the ball," Snyder said. "Were still a work in progress, for sure, but as long as I keep seeing improvement each week I think well be fine." It was a nice bounce-back game for Texas A&M after falling to top-ranked Alabama 49-42 last week. "I think we learned some valuable lessons a week ago," A&M coach Kevin Sumlin said. "I think we can get a little bit more confidence coming out of this game with our defence." Manziel had 244 yards passing with a touchdown and ran for 102 yards and two more scores. "We tried a little of everything," SMU coach June Jones said of trying to slow Manziel. "Hes an amazing player. You blitz him and hes accurate with the ball. You rush three, and he can scramble around and make it last forever. Hes a great college football player and hes in the perfect system." The Aggies have scored at least 40 points in each of their first four games for the first time in school history. Deshazor Everett returned a fumble 12 yards for a touchdown, and Ben Malena ran for 71 yards and two scores. He got things going for A&M with a 3-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Former Texas quarterback Garrett Gilbert threw for 310 yards and a touchdown with an interception for SMU (1-2). Despite the lopsided score, Texas A&Ms performance was far from flawless. The Aggies missed three straight PATs in the second quarter and were penalized 13 times for 114 yards. The Mustangs didnt play any cleaner, and piled up 16 penalties for 111 yards. The Aggies took a 14-0 lead when Manziel sidestepped a defender before high-stepping over another one en route to the end zone on a 7-yard run later in the first. Texas A&M recovered an onside kick and was driving again when a pass by Manziel was deflected and intercepted by Hayden Greenbauer. The Mustangs cut the lead to 14-3 when the ensuing drive resulted in a 42-yard field goal by Chase Hover. Manziel rolled out and found Malcome Kennedy on a 16-yard touchdown pass that extended the lead to 20-3 early in the second quarter. Taylor Bertolets kick failed. Manziels second 7-yard touchdown run made it 32-3 just more than three minutes later, but Bertolet missed again. Jeremiah Gaines fumbled after a reception on the first play of SMUs next drive, and Everett scooped it up and returned it for the score. Sumlin had seen enough of Bertolet and brought in Josh Lambo to attempt the PAT. But holder Drew Kaser fumbled the snap, and the kick was blocked. Sumlin said Bertolet and Lambo will compete for the job. A 47-yard field goal by Hover as time expired in the second quarter left A&M up 32-6 at halftime. Manziel had a nifty run on A&Ms first possession after halftime. He evaded three defenders that had hands on him to dash down the sideline on a 20-yard run. Malenas 1-yard run two plays later -- and a made extra point by Lambo -- made it 39-6. He was replaced by Matt Joeckel, who started A&Ms opener while Manziel served an NCAA suspension. Joeckel threw for 63 yards before Sumlin brought in freshman Kenny Hill. Lambos 40-yard field goal extended A&Ms lead to 42-6 near the end of the third quarter. A 31-yard touchdown reception by Keenan Holman made it 42-13 early in the fourth quarter. Holman finished with 10 receptions for 133 yards. Stephen Curry Shoes . -- Ty Montgomery had 290 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, and fifth-ranked Stanford held on to beat No. Saucony Grid 9000 Mint . After Mondays hard-fought loss, the wait seemed longer than usual. Getting set to go their separate ways for a short Christmas break, the Raptors coach credited his team for their effort on a seemingly impossible three-game road trip, urging them to build on that success when they get back to work at the end of the week. http://www.sauconyshoesireland.com/ . There was no hesitation from the 40th-ranked Pospisil, from Vernon, B.C., who admitted that he cut back on his training sessions over the last few days to conserve energy as the long ATP season finishes next week at the Paris Masters.MONTREAL -- Geroy Simon has come to Ben Cahoons home field to try to break the CFLs all-time pass receptions record. Five catches last week against B.C. left the Saskatchewan slotback tied with the retired Cahoon at 1,017 career receptions. There is little doubt the record will fall when the Roughriders (8-4) take on the Montreal Alouettes (4-8) on Sunday afternoon. Simon has caught at last one pass in 182 consecutive games. Watch the Roughriders vs. Alouettes live today on TSN and TSN Mobile TV at 1pm et/11am pt. "Its a great accomplishment," Simon said Saturday. "I consider Ben a friend and someone who has been very good in this league for a long time. "Hes one of the greats, and to have the opportunity to break his record in the stadium where he did so many great things is an honour. Itll be fitting to break it here." The record will be a sideshow in a game between two injury-riddled clubs that are both desperate to end three-game losing streaks. The Roughriders have not won since running back Kory Sheets was injured, while Montreal, missing both starter Anthony Calvillo and backup Tanner Marsh, will have Josh Neiswander making a second straight start at quarterback. His backups will be former Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith, who only joined the team in August, and Canadian Kyle Graves, who had been trying to crack the lineup as a receiver. Simons chase of the record Cahoon set in 2010 has stirred debate on two of the CFLs all-time great receivers, who were very different in their style of play. Cahoon, now a 41-year-old receivers coach at his alma mater, Brigham Young University, was known for being small and slow but blessed with remarkable hands. Most of his catches were for seven or eight yards over the middle, where hed grab the ball out of a crowd of defenders and hang on while taking ferocious hits. The 38-year-old Simon is better know as a deep threat, although the Johnstown, Pa., native catches balls short and long. "Its unfair to compare us because we were two different types of receiver," said Simon. "He was more of a possession guy and I was a more dynamic player, in the sense that I feel I can do a little bit of everything. "I wasnt necessarily a down-field guy but I can catch the ball downfield. I wasnt a possession guy, but I can do that as well. I dont know if you could say I was a more complete player. I wanted to play a more complete gaame. Saucony Jazz Ireland. " The five-foot-nine Cahoon, considered a non-import because he spent part of his childhood in various southern Alberta towns, played 13 seasons, all with Montreal. He won three Grey Cups and was named the leagues top Canadian twice. He is sixth all-time in receiving yards with 13,301. On Oct. 11, 2010, he broke the previous record of 1,006 catches held by Terry Vaughn. Simon, in his 15th season, broke Milt Stegalls record for career receiving yards last season and has since stretched it to 16,188. He is also one 100-yard game short of former Calgary Stampeder Allen Pitts record of 64. Now he is on the brink of passing Cahoon. "Well throw him every pass all day until he gets it," Riders coach Corey Chamblin joked. "I was here when Ben got it, so that will be something unique to see. "Itll be wonderful for Geroy. Hes earned it." Simon will be overtaking one of the most popular players in Alouettes history. Veteran receiver Eric Deslauriers said Cahoons trademark was reliability. "He was a guy that caught probably six or seven balls a game," said Deslauriers. "Teams knew he was going to catch balls. They knew the routes he was going to run. They knew Anthony was going to throw him the ball in triple coverage. And he came up with the ball every time. "He was the type of guy that, you see him on the street and you think whats this guy, the kicker? But the reality is that he was a great leader and an awesome football player." Jim Popp, the Alouettes coach and general manager, said Cahoons success came from intelligence and excellent technique. "He had unbelievable hands," said Popp. "But the thing he didnt get enough credit for was that he knew how to come out of a break and separate himself. "Hed dip his shoulder low and he could always create separation between a defensive back and himself, no matter much bigger, stronger, or faster they were than him." Popp has also admired Simon, who broke into the CFL with Winnipeg but had his best years after moving to the B.C. Lions in 2001. He signed with Saskatchewan this season, where he has not been Darian Durants main target but has 28 catches for 401 yards and three touchdowns. "Hes always been a deep ball threat," said Popp. "He goes up and makes catches. "And I love his Superman pose. I just dont want him doing it in our stadium."
