Vijay Singh received a favourable ruling in his lawsuit against the PGA Tour when a judge allowed his complaint that he was treated differently from other players under the tours anti-doping policy. Chuck Howley Cowboys Jersey . The New York State Supreme Court only partially dismissed the lawsuit, meaning the case could be headed for trial. The tour announced a year ago that Singh would be suspended for saying in a Sports Illustrated story that he took deer antler spray, which was believed to contain the banned substance IGF-1. Late in the appeals process, the tour dropped the case when the World Anti-Doping Agency said deer antler spray was no longer a concern. Singh sued the tour in May -- the day before The Players Championship -- saying it exposed him to "public humiliation and ridicule" during the investigation. In Tuesdays order, Judge Eileen Bransten threw out five of seven elements in the tours motion to dismiss. Four of them effectively agreed with the tours argument that Singh had to abide by the anti-doping policy because he willingly signed up as a PGA Tour member. Another part of the ruling rejected Singhs claim of intentional emotional distress. "This is a big win," said Peter Ginsberg, an attorney for the Hall of Fame golfer from Fiji. "The cornerstone of our lawsuit is that the PGA Tour violated in covenant to treat Vijay fairly, and the court has allowed us to proceed with that claim." Asked if the tour or Singh had talked about a settlement, Ginsberg declined comment. PGA Tour spokesman Ty Votaw said it does not comment on pending legal matters. Along with ruling in favour of Singh on his allegations of fair treatment, the court sided with his complaint that the tour unfairly held $99,980 in PGA Tour earnings while the case was being investigated. Singh says his prize money was being held in escrow since the 2013 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, before he was informed of his suspension. Most damaging for the tour in Tuesdays ruling is the potential for Singh to demand evidence involving other players. Both sides already are battling over how much information the tour should hand over regarding its handling of other players. "So far the tour has put up a road block and failed to produce anything," Ginsberg said. "The court has made it clear that the PGA has to satisfy our requests. Well go through discovery, and we expect to go all the way through with this." The tour is the only major sports league in America that does not announce how it punishes its players for violations, such as bad conduct. Even when John Daly told The Associated Press in 2008 that he had been suspended for six months for his conduct, the tour would not confirm it. The anti-doping policy requires the tour to announce when a player has been suspended for performance-enhancing drugs (but not which one). Doug Barron is the only player to have been suspended since the program began in July 2008. But the commissioner does not have to disclose any suspension for recreational drugs. Even though Singh agreed to the anti-doping policy as a PGA Tour member, Bransten said Singh could proceed under the "good faith and fair dealing" because of his allegation that the tour was "reckless in its administration of the program." The tour had warned players about deer antler spray because it was believed to contain an insulin-like growth factor on the tours list of banned substances. It can only be detected through a blood test -- the tour only tests urine samples. But the admission of taking a banned substance constitutes a positive test under the tours anti-doping policy. Singhs lawyers have said the amount of IGF-1 in the spray is so diluted that it would be comparable to pouring a shot glass of bourbon in an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and then drinking a shot from the pool water. PETERSBURG, Fla.ATHENS, Ga. -- Aaron Murray threw for 408 yards and three touchdowns, ran for another score, and led No. 9 Georgia to a 45-21 victory over pesky North Texas on Saturday. Murray overcame an early interception in the end zone, hooking up with freshman Reggie Davis on a 98-yard TD -- the longest pass play in school history. Arthur Lynch and Chris Conley also had touchdown catches for the Bulldogs (2-1). The Mean Green (2-2) came in as a 33-point underdog, but big plays on special teams helped make a game of it. Brelan Chancellor returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown, and Zac Whitfield fell on a blocked punt in the end zone early in the second half to stunningly tie the game at 21. Murray made sure the Bulldogs avoided the upset. He scored on a 1-yard sneak and went to Conley on a 4-yard TD. Georgia outgained North Texas by a staggering margin in total yards, 641-245, the fourth-most in school history. But the Bulldogs didnt put it away until the fourth quarter. Murray became only the second Southeastern Conference quarterback with 100 career scoring passes. The three TDs pushed his total to 102, trailing only 1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel of Florida (114). Darnell Smith had North Texas only non-special teams score, hauling in a 20-yard pass from Derek Thompson. But the Mean Green certainly didnt embarrass themselves on a rainy day between the hedges, collecting a hefty payout ($975,000) and ruining any hopes Georgia had to limit the pllaying time of its starters before an SEC showdown with No. Jaylon Smith Cowboys Jersey. 6 LSU next weekend. Murray got off to a rough start, trying to force a pass into heavy coverage on second-and-goal from the North Texas 3. It was picked off by linebacker Will Wright. Murray bounced back on the next possession. He hooked up with Jay Rome on a 27-yard pass, North Texas cornerback James Jones was called for interference, and Todd Gurley powered over from the 12 yards out to give Georgia a 7-0 lead. The Bulldogs made it 14-0 on the first play of the second quarter from their own 2-yard line. Davis beat his man, hauled in the pass, and pulled away from the defence to beat the previous school record of 93 yards, which had been done three times -- including the famous touchdown pass from Buck Belue to Lindsay Scott against Florida during the 1980 national championship season. The teams traded quick scores -- Smiths TD was matched by Murrays 16-yarder to Lynch -- before Chancellor stunned the crowd on the ensuing kickoff. One of the nations top returners, Chancellor found a hole through a wall of blockers, easily slipped past kicker Marshall Morgan, and took off right down the middle of the field for a touchdown that cut Georgias lead to 21-14. The Mean Green tied it less than a minute into the second half as the rain began falling heavily at Sanford Stadium. Marcus Trice broke through to block Collin Barbers punt, and Whitfield recovered for a tying TD. KAMLOOPS, B. Justin Rogers Redskins Jersey .C. -- Its crunch time on Thursday for two of the top teams at the Canadian mens curling championships as they fight for the right to play in the one vs. two game on Friday. Should B.C.s John Morris win, he would be guaranteed a top-two finish, most likely No. 1 since he handed Alberta their only loss. That victory gave both teams 8-1 records, with Morris getting an edge because his rink won the head-to-head matchup. "We want that one-two game," he said. "If we win tomorrow morning were in the one-two game." Should Manitobas Jeff Stoughton win, he would be in control and need only beat Ontario in the evening draw to ensure a top-two finish. He was just as anxious Wednesday after a win left Manitoba at 7-2. "We play B.C. which is a huge game for us," he said. "We play them in the morning and that could mean getting into the one-two game which is very important." Stoughton looked more in control and said he felt that way as well. Manitoba started with four wins then lost games to Alberta and Quebec but has bounced back. Alberta continued its roll with a 10-5 win over Ontarios Greg Balsdon in Wednesdays evening draw. Kevin Koe and Alberta have only Prince Edward island (3-6) and Quebec (4-4) standing in their way of a guaranteed top-two finish. The late draw had meaning for the teams jockeying for fourth place and a shot at making the final through the 3-4 game. "This was a big bounce-back game," said Saskatchewans Steve Laycock, after beating Prince Edward Island 8-5 to improve to 5-3, good enough for fourth spot. "We had a couple of tough ones in a row against Alberta and Manitoba, which we knew they would be . . . Heading into the final couple of days we know we control our own destiny now." They play Ontario and B.C. on Thursday. Ontario fell to 4-4 with the loss to Alberta. "Tomorrows a big one," said Laycock. Earlier, Morris and B.C. scored a big five in the third end and coasted to an 8-3 win in eight over Ontario. Manitobas Stoughton continued to keep the leaders in sight with a 7-4 win over Laycock. Stoughton and third John Mead looked a lot more in control, although they also benefited from Laycocks mistakes. "We got a great deuce in the first end and then it was pretty mistake free," he said. "A lot of great shots made, you have to do that, and it felt pretty good all around for all of our guys." Stoughton also faces Balsdon Thursday and the Brier rookie from Toronto wasnt giving up hope. "Weve got a tough day tomorrow with Saskatchewan and Manitoba but if we can win our last three games, 7-4 . . . should be okay for a tiebreaker anyway." Morris and B.C. are clicking even more than they did at the Olympic trials, where they lost the final to Brad Jacobs. Jim Cotter, who throws fourth stones for B.C., has gained a lot of confidence and it shows, agrees Stoughton. "I think Johns just brought so much confidence to that team. Hes made them believe that theyre a great team, which they obviously are." Morris was ranked as the top third (based on the stones he throws), Cotter the top skip and Rick Sawatsky the top lead in cumulative percentages after the first two draws on Wednesday. Only Manitoba second Mark Nichols stopped it from being a B.C. sweep. Also, Quebecs Jean-Michel Menard still has hope after improving to 4-4 with an 8-3 win over winless Nova Scotias Jamie Murphy. On the outside looking in, New Brunswicks James Grattan sits at 4-5 after beating the Territories Jamie Koe 8-3, leaving Koe at 3-6. LUCIE, Fla.EDMONTON -- It appears the Edmonton Oilers have another weapon to add to their already potent arsenal. David Perron scored a goal and added an assist on Saturday as the Edmonton Oilers came away with a 5-2 exhibition victory over the Vancouver Canucks. The 25-year-old from Sherbrooke, Que., upped his pre-season totals to three goals and four points in his first three games with the Oilers since coming in an off-season trade with St. Louis for fellow forward Magnus Paajarvi. Perron was pleased when he first learned of the trade because he would be leaving a strict defensive system with the Blues and joining the likes of Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle and Nail Yakupov in a more free-wheeling system with the Oilers. That feeling hasnt changed since he officially arrived in Edmonton. "Im even more excited now," said Perron. "Im trying to do my best to be a factor on both sides of the puck and produce every night. Hopefully I can keep improving. This is just the start. "Its nice to be coming to a team that is a little more offensive oriented. It is not like St. Louis wasnt trying to score, but it was pretty evident that they are a defence-first hockey team." Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins believes his club could have a gem in Perron. "I think we have a lot there," said Eakins.. "He can score, he competes hard and hes not afraid to get his nose dirty. Weve let him loose on the penalty kill a little bit. I think we have a very well-rounded player and another guy who is excited to play hockey. He really likes to play the game and thats important." Sam Gagner, Ryan Smyth, Yakupov and Will Acton also scored for the Oilers (3-1-1). Mike Santorelli and Jannik Hansen replied for the Canucks (0-3-0). The Canucks got on the board with the games first shot 1:20 into the first as Santorelli snuck the puck through the pads of Oilers starting goalie Jason LaBarbera. Edmonton had a full two minute five-on-three power plaay seven minutes into the opening period after a head shot on Hall, but were unable to get a puck past Vancouver goalie Eddie Lack. Kory Lichtensteiger Redskins Jersey. The Oilers tied the game on the power play with seven minutes left in the first as Perron sent a pass through the crease, giving Gagner an easy tap-in to an open net. Edmonton went up 2-1 four minutes into the second period with a short-handed goal from Perron, who picked up a rebound and sent a backhander in for his third of the pre-season. The Canucks lost centre Jordan Schroeder midway through the second as he had to be helped off the ice favouring his left leg after blocking a shot. Gagner also left the game late in the second after taking a Zack Kassian stick in the face and losing several teeth and did not return. The game stayed 2-1 until 15:58 of the third period when a puck deflected to Smyth at the doorstep and he shovelled it past Lack for a two-goal lead. Less than a minute later the Canucks responded as Hansen picked the corner on Oilers backup Tyler Rimmer to make it 3-2. Edmonton put the game away shortly afterwards, however, as Yakupov beat Lack with a quick wrist shot and Acton scored into an empty net. Notes: It was the second consecutive pre-season game between the two teams. Edmonton won the first contest 4-1 in Vancouver on Wednesday. The Oilers and Canucks will next meet in regular season play on Oct. 5 in Vancouver. Winger David Booth was expected to make his first appearance in a Canucks game since March 16th, but left the morning skate after just five minutes with what was described as groin stiffness. Chris Higgins, Alex Edler and Schroeder made their pre-season debuts for Vancouver... Neither Daniel or Henrik Sedin made the trip to Edmonton. Defenceman Anton Belov made his Oilers debut after arriving at training camp a few days late due to visa problems. BUCHAREST, Romania -- Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho walked out of a news conference on Monday ahead of a Champions League match at Steaua Bucharest after becoming increasingly agitated at questions about his squad selections. Bruce Miller 49ers Jersey . Mourinho has spent weeks responding to questions about Juan Mata being dropped from the team. Now that the midfielder has been recalled, Mourinho was frustrated to be quizzed on Kevin De Bruynes absence for Tuesdays game. "You have this tendency to only ask about the guys that are not selected," Mourinho said. "See you tomorrow," With that, the Portuguese coach made a swift exit off the platform, leaving midfielder Frank Lampard sitting there in front of reporters. Before then, Mourinho had explained why De Bruyne was left in London alongside his fellow Belgian Eden Hazard, who has an ankle injury. "This is fantastic because nobody asks me about Mata," Mourinho said. "You are three weeks speaking about Mata, and now you are speaking about Kevin de Bruyne. So you are not interested in the players that are playing? You are interested in the players that are not playing. "He was not selected. It was my decision. Only 11 can play and 18 can be selected. I try to decide by what they do on the pitch when they play and what they do in training." Mata was recalled after impressing against Tottenham after coming on as a second-half substitute as Chelsea recovered a 1-1 draw. But Mourinho said he "didnt like" De Bruynes performance in the League Cup victory over Swindon last week or "the way he was training." INAWASHIRO, Japan -- Canadian moguls skier Mikael Kingsbury says he always sets his sights on a podium finish. And lately, hes been getting a lot of them. After winning bronze at a World Cup event on Saturday, the reigning Olympic silver medallist capped off his weekend in Japan with gold in dual moguls on Sunday. "Yesterday I wasnt disappointed, but I made an uncharacteristic mistake. Today I felt very good," Kingsbury said. "I really wanted to win and I focused on the stuff I was doing well. I didnt have my best training this morning so I had to refocus and managed to get the win." Kingsbury, of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Que., outperformed Japans Sho Endo in his final run. Montreals Pascal-Olivier Gagne took bronze for his first World Cup podium finish. The 24-year-old Gagne, who was ousted by Kingsbury in the semifinal, said that simply cracking the semis was a huge step for him, but winning bronze and sharing his first podium with Kingsbury and Sho was even better. "I was already assured of fourth place so it didnt even matter what happened after, I was just so happy to be there," he said. "I went to see Mik before the dual and took him in my arms because I knew it was my best result ever. "To share the podium with him, hes the most consistent skier Ive seen and Sho, hes one of the best right now, so to share the podium with both these guys really means a lot to me." Gagne got off to a slow start this season, making only one final in his first six events. While his Canadian teammates were winning medals in Sochi, Gagne had to go back to the NorAm circuit to earn a spot in this weekends World Cup event in Japan. He placed seventh in singles and second in dual moguls at Appex Mountain Resort outside of Penticton, B. Steve Johnson 49ers Jersey. C. on Feb. 15 and 16, respectively. Gagne says winning his first World Cup medal on the tough Japanese course made his victory even sweeter. "To finally have my first podium ever, and to have it here in Inawashiro means a lot to me," he said. "Its one of the courses thats the most difficult in the world. Its the course I always looked up to when I was young watching my idols. Its really a fight every time to ski here so Im really happy I made my first podium here." Quebec Citys Philippe Marquis was fourth, Montreals Marc-Antoine Gagnon placed fifth after being knocked out in the quarter-finals by Kingsbury, and two-time Olympic gold medallist Alex Bilodeau of Rosemere, Que., was ninth. In dual moguls, two skiers race down a course against each other, with the top score awarded to the athlete who performs the best tricks in the quickest time. Kingsbury admitted that having to ski against a fellow Canadian isnt exactly ideal. "For sure I dont want to face them in duals because its not fun to have to go up against your teammate," he said. "But when were in the gate, its like theyre from another country. Im not going to ski differently because theyre my friend. We push even harder almost when we are going against our own teammates, but we had a lot of fun today." On the womens side, Hannah Kearney of the United States won gold, followed by Elena Muratova of Russia and Japans Junko Hoshino. Montreals Maxime Dufour-Lapointe, who won bronze in the womens singles event Saturday, placed fifth. DALLAS -- Former Dallas Cowboys player Josh Brent was convicted of intoxication manslaughter Wednesday for a fiery wreck that killed his teammate and close friend, Jerry Brown. Leonard Hankerson Redskins Jersey . Brent, 25, showed no reaction when he learned the verdict. He was led from the courtroom in handcuffs in front of crying family members who were in the front row of the courtroom gallery. He faces up to 20 years in prison, though he could also get probation. The sentencing phase was scheduled to begin on Thursday. Lawyers from both sides remain under a gag order that prevented them from commenting after the proceedings. Prosecutors say Brent, a defensive tackle, was drunk when he crashed his Mercedes on a suburban Dallas highway in December 2012, killing Brown, a linebacker on the Cowboys practice squad who had also been Brents teammate at the University of Illinois. Officers who arrived on scene saw Brent trying to pull Browns body from the wreckage. Police say Brents blood alcohol level was tested shortly after the crash at 0.18 per cent, more than twice the legal limit for drivers in Texas. Prosecutors last week argued that the burly, 320-pound defensive tackle had as many as 17 drinks that night of the crash. Brents lawyers argued the blood tests used by police were faulty and that Brent could not have drank nearly that much. Attorney George Milner said his client was "guilty of being stupid behind the wheel of a car," not drinking beforehand. Brent retired from the NFL last year, but his ties to the Cowboys were prominent at trial. Two current players, Barry Church and Danny McCray, testified about hanging out with Brent and Brown, first playing video games, then having dinner and going to Privae, a Dallas nightclub. Jurors saw video of Brent appearing to hold bottles of Champagne in each hand and credit-card receipts that showed Brent had purchased three bottles. They also saw police dash cam footage of Brent losing his balance during field sobriety tests and occasionally stumbling over his words while talking to officers. The case now moves to sentencing. Milner has previously said his client should receive probation, and Browns mother, Stacey Jackson, has said in interviews that she has forgiven Brent. Jackson could testify on Brents behalf at sentencing. Prosecutors have indicated they will push for jail time for Brent and have talked about the potential to send a message about intoxication manslaughter. His conviction comes just after weeks of fierce debate about a North Texas teen, Ethan Couch, who received probation for intoxication manslaughter after a wreck that left four people dead. Couchs case, and the so-called "affluenza" defence his attorneys employed, became the subject of fierce, widespread scrutiny. Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins has attended parts of Brents trial and whispered in prosecutors ears during the questioning of one witness. Watkins told a sports radio station last year that prosecutors had the responsibility to make sure Brent "loses his freedom." Brent, a defensive tackle, had played in all 12 games of the 2012 NFL season before the crash. He retired in July. Brown was signed to the Cowboys practice squad in the 2012 season. Barry Cofield Redskins Jersey . LOUIS -- St. Adam Hayward Redskins Jersey . Dallas hasnt ruled out the star quarterback for Sunday nights game against Philadelphia, but all signs point to Romos back injury pushing Kyle Orton into the starting role after two years of limited play as the backup. Surely Ortons name isnt the first that comes to mind for fans wanting a change after years of damaging interceptions, fumbles or, most infamously, the field goal flub when Romo dropped the snap on a kick that could have won his first playoff game in 2006. http://www.theredskinsshoponline.com/Youth-Akeem-Jordan-Redskins-Jersey/ . LOUIS -- Mike Smith is used to facing plenty of shots, so this was nothing new.SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Rudy Gay said he didnt harbour a sense of revenge Wednesday night facing his former team -- the Toronto Raptors-- for the first time since a December trade. His numbers said it all. DeMarcus Cousins had 25 points and 10 rebounds, Gay added 24 points and 10 rebounds, and the Kings held off the Raptors in the fourth quarter for a 109-101 victory. The Dec. 9 trade brought Gay, Quincy Acy and Aaron Gray to Sacramento in exchange for Patterson, John Salmons, Greivis Vasquez and Chuck Hayes. The trade has worked well for both teams. Since the shake-up, the Raptors have compiled an 18-11 record and own the third best overall record in the Eastern Conference. They had an 8-12 mark before the deal. Gay has thrived in his role as a key figure offensively. The versatile forward has averaged 20.7 points and shot 53 per cent in his first 25 games with the Kings. Gay wasnt nearly as effective with the Raptors, shooting just under 39 per cent in his second season in Toronto. "It was great to see Rudy have such a successful game tonight," said Gray, who didnt play. "No matter what the scenario, its really important when you go against your ex-team. You always want to show them what theyre missing. I think Rudy did that." Toronto coach Dwane Casey wished his team was a little more focused on effort rather than the socializing that took place between the two teams. "I just thought our whole disposition was off. Were out there hugging and giving out fives and all that," Casey said. "Well, this is a business. I didnt think our disposition at the beginning of the game was in fighting mode or hungry mode. We havent done anything, Ill keep repeating this, we havent done anything in this league yet." The Kings led by 20 points going into the final quarter, when Toronto got going offensively and cut the lead to five points with under a minute to play. But the Kings conveerted six consecutive free throws in the final minute to seal their second straight victory after losing seven straight. Aldrick Robinson Redskins Jersey. "I think we kept our composure, were very poised down the stretch, and came out with a good home victory," Cousins said. Kyle Lowry had 21 points, eight assists and seven rebounds for the Raptors, who had won four of their last five. Demar DeRozan scored 18 points, Patrick Patterson 14 and Steve Novak 12, all in the fourth quarter. DeRozan, who entered the game averaging 22 points, shot 5 of 17. He added six rebounds and four assists. Novak played only 34 seconds through three quarters, but in the fourth he hit three three-pointers, helping the Raptors outscore the Kings 29-17. "The game was bizarre; we made it interesting," Kings coach Michael Malone said. "Im glad they didnt play Steve Novak more or it would have been a long night." Isaiah Thomas added 23 points for the Kings and guard Marcus Thornton had 12, all in the first half. Thornton hit the floor hard at the offensive end late in the second quarter and didnt return. He bruised hip and knee in the fall, but X-rays were negative. He may get an MRI on Thursday. New NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, who took over for David Stern on Saturday as the leagues fifth commissioner, attended the game. He drew a standing ovation when he was introduced to the sellout crowd Before the game, Silver toured Sacramentos planned downtown arena and sat with the Kings new ownership group during a portion of the game. NOTES: The Kings played without reserve forward Derrick Williams, who was out with a strained right foot. ... Despite shooting 37.5 per cent in the first quarter, Sacramento still led 30-23. ... Having parted ways with both their coordinators already this off-season, it appears the BC Lions have a plan. Mark Sanchez Broncos Jersey . According to a report from the Vancouver Province, the Lions are expected to replace former DC Rich Stubler with defensive backs coach Mark Washington. If the Lions had kept Stubler, it is expected they would have lost Washington, paving the way for the expected move. HOUSTON -- Bud Norris had the best performance of the season for Houstons beleaguered pitching staff, and it helped the Astros take a series from a division foe. Norris pitched into the ninth inning and Chris Carter homered for the second straight game to help the Astros to a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night. The victory gives Houston its third series win of the season. The Angels dropped to 4-13 away from Anaheim. Norris is the first Astros pitcher to reach the eighth inning this season and the performance was much-needed on a staff that has been plagued by short outings. Houstons pitchers have combined for a 5.62 ERA, which is the highest in the majors. "I really hope that the rest of the starters take heed of what can happen when you attack the strike zone," Houston manager Bo Porter said. "We have a pretty good defence and when you make the other team feel like they have to swing early in the count (and) put the ball in play (and) allow our defence to play, we get starts like we got tonight from Bud Norris." Marwin Gonzalez and Jimmy Paredes hit RBI doubles in the third before Carter connected on his team-leading eighth homer in the fifth inning to make it 3-0. Norris (4-3) allowed nine hits and one run in eight-plus innings. The eight innings tied a career high for Norris, who was disappointed he was pulled after consecutive singles by Mike Trout and Albert Pujols to start the ninth. "Its a little frustrating when you put in the work to go out there and try to pitch nine innings and I was very close -- again," he said. "Its happened a few times, but thats OK. The wins are more important to me and for this team and where were going and thats a No. 1 priority." Closer Jose Veras retired Mark Trumbo before plunking Josh Hamilton to load the bases. But Houston turned its fourth double play of the game to end it and give Veras his fourth save. Angels starter Joe Blanton (0-6) allowed eight hits and three runs in 6 2-3 innings to remain winless this season. The slumping Hamilton broke a 20-game home run drought when he launched a solo homer into the seats in left field with one out in the seventh to get Los Angeles within 3-1. It was his first homer since April 14, and came exactly a year after he hit four homers in a game against Baltimore. The Angels are 11-22 overall, tying their worst start in franchise history. They had the same record after 33 games in 1969 and 1976. "When wwere not doing enough offensively, it comes down to getting breaks, and they havent been falling our way," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. C.J. Anderson Broncos Jersey. "You have to create your own breaks, your own momentum and your own margin of error, and that all comes on doing things on a more consistent basis." Matt Dominguez hit a ground-rule double that bounced on the low wall in right field with one out in the third inning. The play was reviewed after Porter argued it was a home run, but the call was upheld. Dominguez advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a double to shallow left field by Gonzalez to give Houston a 1-0 lead. Paredes made it 2-0 with a two-out RBI double which sailed down the right field line just out of reach of a leaping Trumbo and into right field. Paredes, who played his first game with the Astros on Tuesday after being promoted from Triple-A, also doubled in the eighth inning. He has three doubles and two RBIs in two games. "Hes a guy that we know can add some excitement to our ballclub," Porter said of Paredes. "Its a combination of speed, its power. I think this guy; hes turned the corner and allowed his ability to play. Its a joy to watch." Jason Castro drew a one-out walk after the double by Paredes in the eighth. Pinch hitter Trevor Crowe reached on a fielders choice on a bunt and Paredes was thrown out at home on the play. Carter led off Houstons fifth with his towering shot, which bounced high on the wall above the Crawford Boxes in left field to push the lead to 3-0. The Astros, who lead the majors with 46 double plays, turned them in the first, fifth and eighth innings to help out Norris. The fourth inning ended when Trumbo got caught stealing second base. NOTES: The series wraps up on Thursday when Houstons Lucas Harrell opposes left-hander Jason Vargas. ... Los Angeles reliever Ryan Madson, who missed all of last season after Tommy John surgery, is heading to Arizona for extended spring training. Scioscia said hell probably pitch in two games there before moving to the California League to continue his work. "Obviously the process is not complete with Ryan, hes got to see how he bounces back, see how his stuff plays, and its definitely going to take some higher baseball to accomplish that," Scioscia said. ... Roman Josi had a goal and an assist to lead the Predators to a 4-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Monday night.Research has found that hydration and nutrition are 2 key techniques you can use between workouts that will help you to recover faster. By understanding and applying the science of refuelling, you can ensure that you give your body the help it needs to rebuild its energy supplies quickly between workouts. This is the key to becoming "the 24 hour athlete." Recovery and Refuelling The essential idea that every 24 hour athlete needs to embrace is that your attention and effort do not end when your workout is over. Because the refuelling process is so important to helping you recover from and prepare for your running training, there are several things you can do after your workout to help you improve. Remember, fitness and training are a way of life – not just something you do when your stopwatch is running. Once your workout is finished, it is essential to rehydrate and refuel right away. Without sufficient fluids, your bodys processes wont work properly. For every kilogram of weight that you lose during exercise, it is recommended that you drink one litre of water. Done properly, refueling will replenish your glycogen stores, improve your overall ability to store energy, reduce muscle soreness and fatigue, and increase your bodys ability to repair muscles.1 If you eat within 30 minutes of your workout, you can capitalize on a temporary increase in your bodys ability to absorb nutrients like glucose and protein, which will improve your performance the next time you workout. The ideal snack will have a balance of protein and carbohydrate. After endurance training, look for foods that have a ratio of 4g of carbs for every 1g of protein (examples are listed at the end of the article). After a strength, speed or interval workout, decrease the ratio to 2g of carbs for every 1g of protein. The details Exercise training takes energy supplied through the breakdown of carbohydrates and fats. During most types of training, our muscles are placed under tremendous stress, which stimulates the body to rebuild itself. Most structures in the body are made of proteins. Research clearly shows that refueling the body immediately after exercise with carbohydrates and proteins speeds the replenishment of energy stores and protein synthesis and reduces muscle inflammation and soreness. Carbohydrates are critical for replenishing muscle glycogen stores, and proteins are crucial for initiating muscle and other soft-tissues repair. The question is, how much of each should you consume? In part, the answer depends on the type of exercise you performed. Endurance athletes such as cyclists, triathletes, runners and swimmers exercise longer at sustained intensities. This type of work depletes muscle glycogen, so replenishing it is a priority. Without enough glycogen they cant work at high iintensities, or they?may run out of fuel in their next training?session. Cody Parkey Eagles Jersey. Therefore, for endurance athletes?we recommend consuming a light snack with a ratio of 4 carbohydrates to 1 protein. Strength training or speed work that requires greater demands on muscles produce micro- tears in the muscle and soft tissues such as tendons or capillary beds. For any exercise that makes your muscles sore, protein synthesis is therefore crucial to repair these tissues. In this case, the ratios change, and a higher protein content is warranted. We recommend about 2:1 carbohydrates to proteins after a strength-type workout. As little as 6 to 10 grams of protein accelerate protein synthesis in the muscles following exercise, but you can calculate your approximate protein requirement based on your body weight. In general, sedentary people need about 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight, and active people need much more - about 1.6 to 1.8 grams per kilogram. Regular foods (e.g., chicken, beef, fish, beans and legumes, and eggs) can provide the necessary amino acids, and some protein powders are acceptable and convenient options. Improve Your Performance Here are some keys to using refuelling to become a 24 hour athlete: - Cool down for 10-15 minutes after you work out- Always have appropriate food on hand so you can refuel within 30 minutes- Make sure your post workout food has the proper ratio of protein and carbohydrates- Take in 1 litre of water for every kilogram of weight loss during a workout Post-Exercise Snack Ideas Recovery drink mix (4:1 carbs to protein for endurance workouts, 2:1 for strength workouts) Greek yogurt + fruit/berries + granola Chocolate, vanilla almond or brown rice milk + protein powder? Organic trail mix (unsulphured dried fruit and raw nuts/seeds)? Cottage cheese One or two high-quality snack bars? Brown rice cake(s) + jam + natural nut butter (e.g., almond, cashew, peanut)? An egg- salad sandwich (preferably on whole-grain bread) Source: Trionne Moore, BA RHN, http://www.trionne.ca References 1 Flakoll et al., Postexercise protein supplementation improves health and muscle soreness during basic military training in Marine recruits. SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Spurs opened a new season by using the same formula that has produced the highest winning percentage for a 16-year span in NBA history.Josh Norman Redskins Jersey . Aggressive defence, Patty Mills draining 3s, selfless ball movement, Boris Diaw shooting without hesitation and coach Gregg Popovich being jovial with reporters. OK, maybe it wasnt quite the same old Spurs. Five months after last seasons disappointing loss in the NBA Finals, a mix of "corporate knowledge" and new infusion of talent propelled San Antonio to a strong start in a 101-94 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. "We won," said Popovich, who later complimented a reporter for a good question. "We have 81 more games." Kawhi Leonard had 14 points and Tony Parker added 13 points and nine assists for the Spurs, who improved to 16-1 in season openers under Popovich. Tim Duncan left the game with a chest contusion after taking an inadvertent elbow with 10:50 left in the third quarter. Duncan did not return after retreating to the locker room. He had three points and six rebounds in 17 minutes. His status for Fridays game at the Los Angeles Lakers was unknown. "Hell get checked out tomorrow," Popovich said. "He had spasms in his shoulder and his neck. It looks like his chest is bruised. He caught an elbow, so it kind of affected (him) from his chest up through his neck at some time or another." With Duncan missing much of the second half, San Antonios revamped second unit dominated, outscoring Memphis reserves 53-38. Diaw had 14 points and Mills and Manu Ginobili had 12 points apiece. After frustrating Popovich by being a pass-first player last season, Diaw was aggressively seeking his shot while going 6 for 9 against the Grizzlies. "He went and talked to a guru in India or something," Popovich said. "I dont know what he did, but he catches and shoots now. I got nothing to do with it. Ive been begging him since he got here. His previous coaches have begged him. All of a sudden hes a catch-and-shoot guy. Its continued and were happy about it." Newly named as the Spurs backup point guard, Mills gave the team an immediate boost. He had a reverse layup and three straight 3-pointers upon entering the game. He was fouled on his third 3-pointer, draining the free throw to give San Antonio a 37-22 lead with 6:48 left in the first half. "He was a great boost," Parker said. "He has been playing well the whole preseason. He knocked down 3s all preseason and that is what he did tonight." Tony Allen had 15 points and Marc Gasol and Mike Conley had 14 each for Memphis. Quincy Pondexter had 13 points and Mike Miller 11 in his return to the Grizzlies after playing last season for the Heat. The Spurs set a franchise record while outscoring the Grizzlies 30-7 in the second quarter. "We let so many points come behind our back," Allen said. "Whether its made baskets or missed baskets. Off the rebound they just kept pushing, they had the momentum and they did a good job of executing as a team." San Antonio held Memphis to seven points in the second quarter, a franchise low by an opponent for the period and the third lowest for a quarter in team history. The Spurs continually ran a second defender at the Grizzlies, forcing them to pass or take a contested shot. Memphis failed to score in the opening 8 minutes of the second quarter, missing their first 10 field goal attempts. Before Allens 3-pointer with 3:45 remaining in the first half, the Grizzlies only points came on a pair of free throws by Pondexter in the opening minute of the second. Memphis finished the second quarter shooting 11.1 per cent from the field: 2 for 18. "We stopped moving the basketball and we tried to create our own shots," first-year Memphis coach David Joerger said. "When the ball moves, the energy on our team goes up. We move, we cut hard, we screen harder, we rim run harder, but our defence wasnt great. Give them credit. They ended up shooting a lot of layups." Continuing his struggles from last seasons playoff sweep to the Spurs, Zach Randolph was held two 2 points on 1-for-6 shooting. "They had a good playoff series against us last season, they swept us and did a good job," Randolph said. "But tonight was one of those nights; just one of those nights." Memphis started the game shooting 29 per cent from the field, going 4 for 14. ANAHEIM, Calif. Ezequiel Garay Jersey . - Joe Smith and the Los Angeles Angels have completed a $15.75 million, three-year contract. The team announced the move Wednesday after Smith took his physical. The sides agreed to terms last weekend on a deal that should boost the Angels bullpen. The 29-year-old Smith was 6-2 with a 2.29 ERA and three saves in 70 appearances covering 63 innings this year for Cleveland. He has 13 wins over the past two seasons. The submarining right-hander spent the past five years with the Indians after pitching for the New York Mets in his first two major league seasons. He is 27-16 with a 2.97 ERA in 439 career games, all in relief. Smiths contract includes $500,000 annually in potential bonuses. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Angels designated right-hander Juan Gutierrez for assignment. Maxi Rodriguez Jersey . LOUIS -- Valtteri Filppula assisted on three of Tampa Bays four goals, and the Lightning beat the St.GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- This is how Kansas coach Bill Self wants Andrew Wiggins to play every night. He knows Wiggins is capable of it. Wiggins had 26 points and 11 rebounds, the only Kansas player in double figures, as the 13th-ranked Jayhawks lost 67-61 to No. 19 Florida. It was the second straight road loss for Kansas (6-3), but a potential building block for Wiggins. He was the lone bright spot for an inexperienced team learning how to play together and handle tough environments. "What Andrew did, he competed," Self said. "He scored points, but he got rebounds and weve been on his butt about that. He made shots. Im glad he made them and all that, but thats not what Im glad he did. I thought he was more aggressive and competed more." Wiggins, the ultra-talented freshman guard from Canada who is widely considered one of the top picks in next summers NBA draft, posted his first double-double and set career highs in points and rebounds. "Even though we lost, we arent going to back down," Wiggins said. "We are fighting to the end. Its never good to lose, but we dont want it to affect the rest of the season. We have until March to come together." This one wasnt nearly as heart-breaking as Saturdays loss at Colorado, which hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to win 75-72. The Gators (7-2) went on a 21-0 run early and led by as many as 18 points in the first half. Scottie Wilbekin led the Gators with a career-high 18 points. "I think we should have had an electrical shortage and cancelled the game after (leading 10-3)," Self said. "We made a couple of shots and played pretty well the first four or five minutes. But we were awful after that. ... That was not a good team playing there at all, and when things started to go bad, we didnt do anytthing to stop it. Federico Fernandez Jersey. That was frustrating." Self called several timeouts, but couldnt do anything to stop Floridas momentum. Surely Floridas four senior starters and playing at home were factors, especially when pitted against Kansas young lineup. "Im not sure young guys have ever faced a situation like that," Florida centre Patric Young said. "Weve been blown out before. Weve blown people out before. We know both sides of the spectrum. ... We did a great job turning them over." The Jayhawks committed 16 turnovers in the first 20 minutes -- as many as they had in any game this season. "Weve got to get everyone playing together," Self said. "I cant blame it all on youth. ... A lot of it may be youth, but I think we can still play better individually." Kansas clawed its way out of the huge hole and made it 60-55 on Wiggins 3-pointer with 55.8 seconds remaining. It was his second 3 in the final 1:20. Florida closed it out from the free-throw line -- barely. The Gators made 20 of 34 free throws, including nine of their final 11. Kansas got it as close as 65-61 with 10.9 seconds left, Floridas Kasey Hill ended any chance of a comeback by draining two free throws. The biggest issue for the Jayhawks was 24 turnovers. Many of those came in the decisive early run. Wiggins and fellow guards Wayne Selden Jr. and Frank Mason combined for 13 turnovers. Wiggins, though, made up for his miscues by getting four offensive rebounds, blocking two shots and make all eight of his shots from the foul line. He was 7 of 15 from the field, including 4 of 9 from 3-point range. "I didnt think Wiggins could shoot the ball that well," Young said. "I know he was a great player, but he really shot the ball well tonight." Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '
