Even when youre a fan of one specific major league baseball team, it can be difficult to keep track of all of the news that surrounds your favorite club on a daily basis. Cheap Ziggy Hood Jersey .However, when youre a fantasy baseball owner and you now have to multiply that effort by 30 in order to be as up to date as possible with each and every club? Its a fools errand that borders on the impossible. With the regular season in the homestretch, were here for the last time to give you a snapshot of whats going on in the world of baseball, with one fantasy takeaway from each of the leagues 30 teams. Think of it as your one-stop shop for the final games ahead. On to the choice nuggets!Arizona Diamondbacks: An unexpected day off on Monday seems to have given Paul Goldschmidt a little late-season boost headed into the final games of the season. Manager Chip Hale rested his first baseman for the first game of a three-game set with the Padres, and he responded with three home runs in the last two games, his first round-trippers since Aug. 24. Fantasy owners are certainly hoping that a scheduled day off for the team on Thursday doesnt end Goldschmidts momentum headed into a weekend set with the Orioles.Atlanta Braves: Josh Collmenter is now 2-0 with a 9.0 K/9 rate and a .206 BAA since joining the Braves, and the pitcher is hoping he can be part of the teams 2017 rotation. Itll be interesting to see what happens this offseason, but yeah, itd be a tremendous opportunity to stay here, Collmenter said prior to his quality start against the Marlins. Manager Brian Snitker has liked what hes seen so far from the recently-acquired pitcher. Hes definitely helped us, Snitker said. We definitely needed stabilization with some of the holes in the rotation. Hes been really good.Baltimore Orioles: Manager Buck Showalter is optimistic that Kevin Gausman can get back on the mound for the Orioles by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Gausman has been scratched from his scheduled Sundays start due to a muscle sprain that Baltimore is hoping that theyve caught before it gets more serious. Dylan Bundy will start in Gausmans place on Sunday. If Gausman does throw on Tuesday, he would be in position to also take the mound against the Yankees in the October 2 season finale.Boston Red Sox: Since returning from the disabled list on September 15, Andrew Benintendi has hit safely in all five games that he has started. Each of those starts saw the left fielder in the No. 9 spot in the Boston order, but theres growing buzz that he may end up getting bumped to No. 6 in the lineup. Manager John Farrell has started four players in that lineup spot over the teams last four games, and 13 players for the season, so some stability down the stretch would be nice.Chicago Cubs: As expected, with their playoff placement no longer in doubt, the Cubs are using the final stretch of the regular season to get their ducks in a row ahead of postseason baseball. Kyle Hendricks has had his next start pushed from Saturday to Monday, lining the rotation up to have Jon Lester in Game 1 of the playoffs, followed in Game 2 by Hendricks.Chicago White Sox: In his previous six starts, Chris Sale had gone at least eight innings in each, with a 1.98 ERA and a .206 BAA. On Wednesday, Sale lasted just four innings, allowing six runs in a loss to the Phillies. Manager Robin Ventura seemed to hint that he believed his ace was a bit fatigued after a heavy workload this season. Usually theres a big difference between his fastball and changeup. Ventura said. Tonight it didnt seem like there was as much life on the fastball. Sale chalked the poor outing up to it just being an off night, however his manager may decide to take the proverbial foot of the gas on his pitchers behalf for the rest of the season.Cincinnati Reds: Odds are good that both Billy Hamilton and Zack Cozart have played their last baseball for 2016. Manager Bryan Price wouldnt formally announce that his players were done, but did say that were so far removed now from baseball activity, were getting to that point where the realism portion of this deal is fading real fast -- for both. Hamilton is expected back with the team next season, but the emergence of Jose Peraza puts Cozarts return in question. If the Reds can find a taker before April, they may well trade him.Cleveland Indians: In the last 15 innings he pitched this season, Danny Salazar struck out 25 batters (a 15.0 K/9 rate). Unfortunately, it was at this point, September 9, that Salazar was diagnosed with a strained forearm that ended his regular season. However, fantasy baseball players who participate into major leagues post-season take note that Salazar may be part of the Indians plans. Salazar has his eyes set on pitching out of the bullpen in the ALDS: Im trying to get back and I know I will. By the way I feel right now, its good and Im really positive about it.Colorado Rockies: Jorge De La Rosa made his final start of the season, and probably his last for the Rockies. The pending free agent posted a 10.93 ERA in his last three starts, and has been told by manager Walt Weiss that hes finished for 2016 so that the team can take a look at 21-year-old German Marquez. In his first major league start on Wednesday, Marquez got the win with five innings of one-run, four-hit ball against the Cardinals. A strong finish to the season could give Marquez a leg up on the competition for a spot in the teams 2017 rotation.Detroit Tigers: Jordan Zimmermann will pitch this weekend -- but only in yet another simulated game. The pitcher says he could pitch right now if allowed to only throw out of the stretch, and that even with a full wind-up I still throw pretty well. As of now, it looks like the Tigers may let Zimmermann take the mound in the final series against the Braves --- but only if they feel he gives them a better chance to win than using either Anibal Sanchez or Buck Farmer, since every game still counts.Houston Astros: Hes had zero hits in just 22 plate appearances since Sept. 9 and now, it looks like Colby Rasmus could potentially be out of action for the rest of the season. Rasmus says hes not feeling right and, given his season-long battle with vertigo, its possible that this situation may continue for some time. Tony Kemp and Teoscar Hernandez should see an uptick in playing time going forward as a result.Kansas City Royals: The team had Jason Vargas on a pitch count of 70 for his second start back from Tommy John surgery on Thursday. Vargas hit the nail on the head, striking out four over four innings in the process. Manager Ned Yost is very pleased with the pitchers progress and future promise, saying It just gives him, and everybody, confidence that hes going to be ready to go in spring training.Los Angeles Angels: Garrett Richards is hoping to be able to be a part of the Angels plans for 2017, and a huge step in that direction would be to get back on the mound by October. Richards, who tore his UCL in May, decided to rehab his throwing elbow rather than undertake Tommy John surgery. The plan right now is to have him face live hitters on Oct. 1, before sending him to the instructional league for a few starts.Los Angeles Dodgers: On Thursday, Brett Anderson (blister) was able to make it through five innings in his first start since August 20. Today, Scott Kazmir will take the mound in his first start since being placed on the disabled list on Aug. 23 with thoracic spinal inflammation. The Dodgers are hoping that one or both of these pitchers will throw well enough down the stretch to warrant starting in the postseason in lieu of rookies Ross Stripling, Brock Stewart and Jose De Leon.Miami Marlins: Although he has yet to play a complete nine innings, the good news regarding Giancarlo Stanton is that in his last three starts, he has been able to get in three at-bats in each contest, hitting home runs in two of them. Miami is monitoring their right fielder closely. Stanton did appear to have an issue with his leg on Thursday, while fielding a ball, just before getting pulled. It may end up being nothing, however the teams caution just underscores that you simply cant count on any regular playing time the rest of the season here.Milwaukee Brewers: Owner Mark Attanasio was asked if he thought Ryan Braun would be on his team in 2017. The question needs to be asked, since the Brewers were quite close to dealing Braun to the Dodgers at the deadline, before running out of time. I hope he is, Attanasio said. That was a unique circumstance, and well see if a circumstance like that presents itself again or not. I think all of us like having a guy who hits .300 and 30 home runs in the middle of the lineup.Minnesota Twins: Joe Mauer hit just 2-for-29 (.069) from Sept. 5-18, and he has not played since then due to a sore right quad. When will he be able to play again? It may not be until Sunday, with left-handed pitchers on the mound for Seattle in the first two games of their upcoming series, as Mauer has been sitting regularly against southpaws. However, if his quad is still giving him grief, the hometown fans may not get another chance to see Mauer play in person in 2016.New York Mets: In the midst of a 3-for-39 (.077) stretch with 11 strikeouts, manager Terry Collins has opted to put Jay Bruce on the bench, starting him just once since Sept. 17. Alejandro De Aza has been seeing more time in center field, with Curtis Granderson moving to right. How long Bruce will remain in purgatory is unknown, but as Collins said, My job is try to win the game, even if that means benching a high-priced regular.New York Yankees: When Starlin Castro went down with a hamstring injury on Saturday, the prevailing wisdom was that his season was over. However, that may not be the case after all. Castro has been rehabbing hard and claims he may be ready to get back in the Yankees lineup as early as this weekend: Ive been feeling pretty good... Hopefully its going to be soon. Until Castro gets the green light, Donovan Solano and Ronald Torreyes will split time at second base.Oakland Athletics: Josh Reddick is hitting .400 for the month of September, which would be great news for the As -- if he hadnt been traded to the Dodgers at the deadline. That said, Reddick is a free agent at the end of the season, and the feeling is that theres a chance the slugger might return to Oakland. Jane Lee of writes, Reddick was always sincere in his desire to remain in Oakland, and Im not sure the trade has changed that... The need is also there, with the As likely pining for help to augment their outfield this offseason... If the As are willing to guarantee Reddick four years, which seems to be a non-negotiable, I wouldnt be surprised if they could work something out.Philadelphia Phillies: Could Joely Rodriguez be the Phillies closer in 2017? Manager Pete Mackanin will see what the pitcher can do over the last 10 games of the season. Rodriguez topped 98 mph on the radar gun earlier this week, causing his skipper to declare, He has nasty stuff and he could get righties out. [The] last pitch he threw was filthy.Pittsburgh Pirates: Negotiations are reportedly in full swing between the Pirates and starting pitcher Ivan Nova. Nova is said to have requested a five-year, $70 million deal, and Pittsburgh has made a counter-offer. Should an agreement be reached, Nova would likely slot in as the teams No. 3 pitcher in 2017, behind Gerrit Cole and Jameson Taillon.St. Louis Cardinals: Jaime Garcias second relief outing resulted in four strong shutout innings, with five strikeouts -- a result made all the more impressive as it took place at Coors Field. Thats the guy that we love to watch, manager Mike Matheny said. His breaking ball was terrific, he had good sink. He didnt make a lot of mistakes. Should Garcia continue to excel in this role, and should St. Louis make the playoffs, Garcia could be a huge postseason asset.San Diego Padres: Yangervis Solarte has been dealing with the loss of his wife, who passed away over the weekend from complications related to cancer. Knowing now what he had been dealing with off the field, its even more impressive that Solarte had been batting .357 in September. Solarte says he wants to play again before the end of the season. While no return date has been set yet for the third baseman, Solarte is sure to have a lot of support from fans, teammates and coaches once hes back.San Francisco Giants: Johnny Cueto may not be ready to make his next start on Sunday as he continues to deal with a strained groin. Though he hasnt yet rules Cueto out, manager Bruce Bochy doesnt want to rush his pitcher back too soon only to have him end up having to miss potential playoff starts should he exacerbate the injury, originally suffered on Tuesday night.Seattle Mariners: Ketel Marte has gone just 1-for-16 since September 14, and the Mariners are wondering whats to blame. Is it simply fatigue at the tail-end of a season, a residual effect from the mononucleosis he dealt with earlier in 2016, or is it cracking under the pressure of a pennant race? If the team feels its the latter reason, dont be surprised to see renewed off-season interest in upgrading at shortstop via trade, potentially in the form of the previously-discussed Cozart.Tampa Bay Rays: Steven Souza Jr. underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair his left hip, and was placed on the 60-day disabled list. The move opened up a spot on the 40-man roster for Juniel Querecuto, an infielder who can play second base, shortstop and third base. That decision is telling, since the Rays decided not to add either Tim Beckham or Taylor Motter to their expanded September roster. If Querecuto impresses, there may well be a bench spot on the 25-man roster waiting for him in the spring.Texas Rangers: The idea of having Shin-Soo Choo in the Rangers lineup for the playoffs is starting to look more and more like a reality. Choo, who had surgery for a fractured left forearm on August 17, is expected to travel with the team this weekend to take batting practice. A trip to the instructional league would follow, should all go well, with an eye on a return to Texas for the start of the ALDS on Oct. 6.Toronto Blue Jays: The team has been spacing out Aaron Sanchezs starts of late, hoping to keep down an innings count that is already at 179 for the season. However, that kid gloves treatment appears to be at an end. Manager John Gibbons says that Sanchez will now give Sanchez the ball every fifth day, for as long as the team remains alive. Thats good news for fantasy owners who have Sanchez on their roster, and the better news for Blue Jays fans is that Gibbons included the playoffs as part of this new every five days policy.Washington Nationals: Daniel Murphy is dealing with some kind of leg injury, though neither Murphy, nor the Nationals will be any more specific about the ailment. Manager Dusty Baker did say on Wednesday that his second baseman hasnt been responding to treatment, which means that Stephen Drew will be seeing a lot more at-bats until this mysterious calamity goes away. TEMPE, Ariz. -- Larry Fitzgerald is a bit beat up, but thats nothing new.Hes taken a lot of hits in 204 NFL games. And it hasnt mattered whether he plays wideout or in the slot, where he is now. Things get more crowded when playing as a slot receiver, but Fitzgerald said the contact is the same.I took a lot of shots outside, too, he said. You play receiver, youre going to get hit. Its the nature of the beast. But its a good problem to have. If youre not getting hit, that means youre not getting any targets.Fitzgerald had a whopping 18 targets in last Sundays 23-20 victory over San Francisco. Statistically, it was his best game of the season -- 12 catches, 122 yards. He played despite a sore knee and ankle. After the game, he acknowledged hes felt better. You dont play 13 years without playing with pain, Fitzgerald said after the game. Its football, he said. Youre going to get banged up. Its just part of it. Theres a difference between being hurt and being injured. A lot of guys are hurting. I dont want to name any on our team but there are guys that are playing through stuff. So there is no doubt that he will play Sunday when he returns to his hometown to face the Minnesota Vikings.Hes a well-conditioned athlete, Cardinals offensive coordinator Harold Goodwyn said. The guy loves football so hes not going to let anybody take him off the grass. This is Fitzgeralds fifth trip to face the Vikings. Arizona has lost the other four.It would bother me if I played for the Vikings (and lost every game there), Fitzgerald joked. Its not like Ive got a big body of work there. Then he reeled off the names of other places where hes never won -- Buffalo, Green Bay, Pittsburgh (as a pro).Theres some places besides Minnesota I havent won, Fitzgerald said.Winning there would be something special, though. Fitzgerald was once a ballboy for the Vikings. He recalled several moments at big events growing up when he was asked about his memories of the late Metrodome.Because his father was a sports writer, he got to know players and was allowed to catch fly balls before some Twins games.I never took it for granted, he said. I was very appreciative of the opportunity.Fitzgerald brushed off the suggestion this might be the last time he plays in Minnesota.I havent thought about that, he said. But hes 33 years old and is in his 13th NFL season. No. Bruce Rondon Jersey . 2 Clemson | No. 4 Florida State | Top 25No. 3: OklahomaLast Season: 11-2 (8-1 Big 12)Defying expectationsIn 2014, the Sooners were predicted to make the inaugural College Football Playoff ... and they finished 8-5. In 2015, not much was expected-they were listed in the lower rungs of the preseason Top 25 -- and they made the playoff. Expectations here are what they are, coach Bob Stoops says. Im fortunate to be at a place with that kind of pressure, [rather] than somewhere you feel like you have to sneak up on people every year. This year Boomer will sneak up on no one thanks to Americas most dynamic backfield duo, QB Baker Mayfield (Big 12 offensive player of the year, 315.8 total ypg) and running back Samaje Perine (five 100-plus-yard games, sixth most in the Big 12). There are questions downfield (Sterling Shepard, whose 3,482 career yards ranks second in OU history, was drafted in the second round) and on defense, where OU lost four first-team All-Big 12 players. Mayfield (3,700 passing yards last year) leads my No. 4 offense, with Perine and Joe Mixon, my sixth-ranked rushing duo, behind him. There is no drop-off to the defense either, led by CB Jordan Thomas (5 INTs last year) and the 135 combined tackles of SS Steven Parker and FS Ahmad Thomas. The catch? The past four times the Sooners have been ranked preseason top five, they ended at No. 15 or lower-including finishing unranked twice.IN IF... It can beat Ohio State and TCU. Australias selectors have lost patience with Glenn Maxwell, putting the big show on hiatus by dropping him for the ODI series in Sri Lanka and instructing him to work on evolving into a more consistent batsman. .While he has been omitted from the team on numerous occasions, this is the first time Maxwell has been dropped from the limited-overs squad altogether since his debut in 2012. The decision follows a run in which he has averaged 11.80 in six innings in Australias last 10 ODIs.In the recent triangular series in the Caribbean, Maxwell made one useful contribution of 46* to help Australia into the final, but made only seven runs in his other three innings combined, alongside sporadic use as a spin bowler. Named to replace Jon Holland for Australia A against South Africa A in Brisbane this week, Maxwell promptly made a duck.At the age of 27, Maxwell is at something of a crossroads in terms of his future. Less than 12 months ago he was set to be a part of the Test squad for an Australian tour of Bangladesh, but now finds himself out of the picture. The selection chairman Rod Marsh stated that the panel wanted the opportunity to pick Maxwell for all formats, but needed him to ally consistency to his explosive talent. If you want to play cricket for Australia, you should be consistent. If you are batsman, you should get consistent runs. If you are a bowler, you should get consistent wickets, or bowl well, Marsh said. As far as I am concerned, he has had a lot of chances. It got to that stage - we couldnt go on any longer. Glenn has too many games where he doesnt contribute with the bat. He is a hell of a good fieldsman, as we know, he is handy bowler, and, at his best, he is one of our first picked in a one-day team. But if he is not making runs, then we have got to find a solution to it. The solution we have come up with is to put him back a step or two and see if he can get some runs there on a consistent basis. When you have got as much talent as that, you should be able to play all forms. He took it as well as what could be expected. No one likes being dropped but he understood the reasons and he also understands what hes got to do.Earlier this year, Maxwell denied he needed to go away and concentrate more on his batting, in the manner Steven Smith once did, in order to shore up his place in Australias plans and push for a Test berth. I dont think I can rest on just being a batsman, Maxwell told AAP. I know Steve Smith went that way when he lost his Test spot, not really bowling much at all. But I dont think I can go that direction. I have to keep working on both parts of my game and make sure theyre good enough.Shaun Marsh has returned to the squad in place of Travis Head after missing the West Indies series due to the birth of his first child, while the NSW allrounder Moises Henriques has effectively come in for Maxwell after a productive IPL. I hope he gets a game, Marsh said of Henriques. Hes been training the house down, really fit and I just hope his bad luck with injuries finishes. . Peter Holland and Brad Staubitz were sent to Toronto on Saturday as the Maple Leafs traded defenceman Jesse Blacker and draft picks to the Anaheim Ducks. .com) - Following a late-game loss to the reigning NBA champs, the Toronto Raptors will look to sustain their recent high-level play as they travel to Indiana to take on the Pacers. . Kiriasis and brakeman Franziska Fritz finished two runs in one minute 55.41 seconds -- a mere 0.01 seconds ahead of Meyers and Lolo Jones, who likely bolstered her Olympic hopes by helping give USA-1 a huge push in the second heat. RIO DE JANEIRO -- In an effort to try to earn more Ryder Cup points, Rickie Fowler on Friday committed to next weeks Wyndham Championship, the final regular-season event on the PGA Tour schedule before the FedEx Cup playoffs.Fowler has been struggling of late and has fallen to 12th place in the Ryder Cup standings. The top eight players in the points standings after the Barclays will automatically qualify for the 12-member team that plays at Hazeltine against Europe from Sept. 30 through Oct. 2.Obviously it would be nice to get some more FedEx Cup points, but my commitment to the Ryder Cup and wanting to be a part of that team ... the Ryder Cup and the experiences Ive had there, its the best team event there is in golf, Fowler said after the second round of the Olympic golf tournament. I dont want to be left off that team, so I want to go there and try to get some points.Obviously not playing well in the majors and the double-points events has put me down the list quite a bit. So thats the reason Im going there, to show the commitment to the Ryder Cup and how much it means to me.After a strong start to the year that saw Fowler win a European Tour eevent in Abu Dhabi and lose in a playoff at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, he has cooled off considerably. He missed the cut at the Masters and the Players Championship and was not in contention at the U.S. Open, The Open or the PGA Championship. His lone bright spot of late was a tie for 10th at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.Fowler is also not having a good Olympics, following up his opening-round 75 with a 71 on Friday. He is in a tie for 50th in the 60-player field.U.S. Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III will make three at-large picks after the BMW Championship in mid-September and a final choice on the Sunday night after the Tour Championship.I dont want to assume anything, Fowler said. I would want Davis to pick me because he thinks I deserve a pick. I want to go and go there and play well and earn some points. Yeah, I dont want him to think Im just assuming Im getting a pick, and Im not assuming that Im getting one, either. I want to go earn my spot.Fowler is 0-3-5 in his two Ryder Cup appearances. JD Miller added 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting.TCU (2-0) has easily won its first two games under Dixon, who returned to Fort Worth after spending 17 seasons at Pittsburgh, including the last 13 as head coach. He won his debut three nights earlier, defeating NAIAs St. Thomas by 18.Our guys are trying, but everything is new, he said. I say some things, and I think they understand -- and then I catch myself and recognize they havent been through it. They havent used our terminology. Its new to them.Dixon said he was more pleased with his teams defensive effort, other than a brief letdown in the second half. TCU gave up just 15 points in the first-half to Alabama State (0-2), the ninth-fewest points allowed in any half by a TCU team.An early 8-0 run gave the Frogs a cushion they never would relinquish. Eleven players saw the court in the first half for TCU, which closed with an 18-2 run over the final 4:10 to go up by 32 at the break.TCU maintained at least a 30-point lead throughout the second half, and even Dixon admitted there wasnt much for him to nitpick about the Horned Frogs performance. Were on schedule, he said. Yeah, I would have liked to have everything done by Nov. 11, but its just not how its going to work with a new group. We have to progress each day and take advantage of every opportunity.Tony Armstrong led Alabama State with 18 points and eight rebounds. Rodney Simeon added 13 points after scoring 25 in the opener for the Hornets.BIG PICTUREAlabama State: The Hornets struggled in the first half for the second consecutive game. After shooting just 20 percent from the field in the first half in their opener, the Hornets managed only 28 percent from the field in the first half against TCU.TCU: TCUs huge leads allowed Dixon to continue experimenting with his rotation, subbing out four of his starters less than seven minutes into the game. Five players scored in double figures for the Horned Frogs.HIGHLIGHT REELTCUs Miller had perhaps the play of the game -- and it came early. The sophomore drove past a defender along the baseline for a two-handed slam, drawing a foul along the way. His free throw extended TCUs lead to 11-4.SHARING THE BALLDixon complimented his teams ball movement, pointing to TCUs 29 assists on 37 field goals. Newcomers Fisher, a freshman, and Alex Robinson, a Texas A&M transfer, each finished with eight assists. Weve got guys who can find guys, Dixon said.UP NEXTAlabama State stays on the road, playing next week at Louisiana Tech and Kennesaw State. ST. LOUIS -- Slugger Yoenis Cespedes turned out to be a nifty slider, too.Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright lost his glove trying to tag out Cespedes in a bizarre play, and the New York Mets broke away soon after that to beat St. Louis 10-6 Thursday night.Alejandro De Aza homered and drove in five runs, helping Seth Lugo earn his first major league win. The Mets led 3-0 in the fifth when Wainwright (9-8) and Cespedes were involved in a strange sequence.Cespedes tried to go from first to third on a bloop single by James Loney. When several Cardinals chased the ball, Wainwright covered third base. Cespedes slid and his cleat pinned Wainwrights glove to the bag -- he wouldve been out, but when Wainwright pulled away his hand, the mitt stayed stuck under Cespedes foot.Because Wainwright didnt control the ball, Cespedes was called safe in a ruling upheld by replay. Moments later, De Aza hit a three-run homer to make it 7-0.He said that when I pulled out the glove, I had to show possession, Wainwright said. I dont know what else I could have done there. There was another runner on base. Ive never seen it before, never heard of it before.De Azas fifth home run of the season came an inning after his two-run single. The five RBI set a career high.Every time you hit a home run its fun, De Aza said. Especially when you can contribute to help the team win. Its a great feeling.De Aza also made a jumping catch against the center field wall to rob Matt Carpenter of an extra-base hit in the first inning. He knows his role, Mets manager Terry Collins said. He doesnt have to like it, but he accepts it and he gets himself ready. He didnt stop working. He didnt stop all the practice. All he needed was a chance to get to play with it and when he got it hes made the most out of it, he said.Lugo (1-2) pitched five scoreless innings. The Mets took two of three to win their first series at Busch Stadium since 2008.This was a tough series, Collins said. Theyve got a good team and we came into this series knowing we had to pick up some ground and we picked up a game and that means a lot.Brandon Moss hit two home runs for the Cardinals and Jedd Gyorko and Stephen Piscotty also connected.Lugo gave up two hits and struck out five to earn his first win since May 10 at Triple-A Las Vegas. On Tuesday night, Mets reliever Robert Gsellman also posted his first big league win.Together, Lugo and Gsellman helped the Mets win a road series from the first time since July 22-24 in Miami.Lugo left the game with right calf cramp while warming up before the sixth. By then, hed also gotten his first hit in the majors. The biggest thing for me is keeping from getting behind in the counts and having to throw pitches over the middle of the plate, Lugo said. It helps me expand the zone.James Loney got three hits and scored twice for the Mets. Loney is hitting .529 (18 for 34) against Wainwright for his career.Wainwright struggled for the third time in his last four starts, giving up seven runs -- only two earned -- and nine hits in five innings. Its another game that we lose in which I start and the offense scores some runs, Wainwright said. The Longhorns (14-4, 3-2) got their biggest win of the season with their third in the row in the Big 12.CLEVELAND -- Justin Masterson was quick to pass along credit for Clevelands eighth straight victory to the guy he provided him all the support he needed in a 6-1 decision over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday. "The storys about Ryan Raburn doing his thing," Masterson said. "That was pretty cool to see." Raburn homered twice and drove in four runs as the Indians, who have won 13 of 17, completed a four-game sweep of the reeling White Sox. Raburn, who has played a major role off manager Terry Franconas bench, hit a two-run homer in the third, had an RBI single in the fifth and belted a leadoff home run in the seventh. He has 13 homers and 37 RBIs in 173 at-bats while playing mostly against left-handed starters. "I prepare myself the same way every day whether Im playing or not," Raburn said. "This is one of those years where everything is going right for me. Im trying to hold on to it and ride it as long as I can." Francona pushed for Clevelands front office to sign Raburn, even though he batted .171 with 12 RBIs in 66 games with Detroit last season. He began the season as the Tigers second baseman but things quickly regressed and he was benched before being sent to the minors. "He got off to a horrendous start and never really recovered," Francona said. "That happens to a lot of players. We were able to get him because of that. In the role hes in, he does a great job." The Indians, who have beaten the White Sox eight straight times, moved to within two games of idle Detroit in the American League Central. "Credit them," Chicago manager Robin Ventura said. "They just outplayed us. Today is probably magnified because of what happened earlier in the series." Cleveland also swept a four-game series in Chicago from June 28-30. Chicago has dropped seven in a row and is 26 games under .500 for the first time since 1980. The White Sox have lost 13 of 16 and have the second-worst record in the AL. Cleveland outscored the opposition 40-20 during the seven-game stretch. Masterson outpitched Chris Sale (6-11) in a matchup of All-Star hurlers. Masterson ((13-7) gave up one run in 6 2-3 innings and has won all four of his starts against Chicago this season, allowing three earned runs in 31 2-3 innings.dddddddddddd Raburns home run off Sale in the third was towering fly ball to right that was pushed by the wind and curled inside the foul pole. He added an RBI single in the Indians two-run fifth and hit a leadoff homer off Dylan Axelrod in the seventh that landed in the left field bleachers. Mastersons bid for his fourth shutout of the season ended on Alejandro De Azas leadoff homer in the sixth. The right-hander was pulled with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh but Rich Hill got De Aza to hit into a fielders choice. Masterson allowed five hits, struck out seven and walked three. He threw complete game shutouts against the White Sox on April 12 in Cleveland, a five-hitter, and on June 30, a six-hitter at U.S. Cellular Field. Francona said Masterson was battling a stiff neck but the pitcher didnt think that affected him. "I felt all right," Masterson said. "I was leaving a few sinkers out there at times. I was pitching and battling and trying to make things work. The overall sense is we played well as a team." Sale has lost all three of his starts against the Indians this season. The left-hander is 1-9 in his last 11 starts but has a 3.24 ERA in that stretch. Mark Reynolds run-scoring single -- his second RBI since June 29 -- gave Cleveland the lead in the second. Thanks to an offensive outburst, the Winnipeg Goldeyes have begun their climb back up to .500. A four RBI night by Ray Sadler helped the Goldeyes to a 12-2 win over the Trois-Rivieres Aigles on Tuesday, snapping a three game losing streak in the process. Josh Mazzola had a three-for-five night at the plate with three RBI for the Goldeyes, who improved to 26-29 on the season. Seven of the nine Goldeyes offensive starters collected at least one hit. "One guy cant do everything so you have to have contributions from everybody in your lineup," said Goldeyes pitching coach Jamie Vermilyea on the TSN 1290 postgame show. Tyler Graham began the scoring when he scored on a wild pitch in the first to put the Goldeyes up 1-0. Trois-Rivieres threatened that lead early but Winnipeg starter Matt Rusch pitched out of jams in the first two innings to preserve the score. In the third, Rusch was one pitch away from getting out of another jam but he surrendered a two-out RBI single to Brett Flowers and the Aigles tied it at one. The scoring remained quiet until the sixth when the Goldeyes grabbed the lead back. Fehlandt Lentini led off with a triple and he was driven in when Sadler hit a single that got past a drawn-in Aigles infield. Winnipeg extended that lead to 3-1 in the inning on a Mazzola RBI double that brought home Sadler. The Goldeyes blew it open in the seventh. With the bases loaded, Sadler drove a ball off the bottom of the outfield wall. When the play was finished, three runs had scored and Sadler stood at second base as the Goldeyes now led 6-1. They scored twice more in the inning off a Mazzola single to open up a seven run lead. "We had a big inning put on us last night so it was nice to come out and do the same to them," said Vermilyea. "The guys were feeling it at the plate and they were putting the barrel on the ball to get some key hits." The Aigles scored once in the eighth but Winnipeg capped off the night with a four-run ninth, highlighted by a two run single from Luis Alen. Rusch, pitching on three days rest, went five-and-two-thirds innings to collect the victory. He gave up only one run while striking out six. The win is the first by a Goldeyes starter since Justin Garcia was victorious on July 5, a span of nine games. "I thought he threw fairly well," said Vermilyea. "I liked how he was being aggressive with his fastball early. He was establishing that fastball and keeping guys honest at the plate." Jeff Schields took the loss for the Aigles. He went six-and-a-third innings, giving up six earned runs on eight hits. He struck out one while walking three Goldeyes. Winnipeg goes for the series win on Wednesday night at 6pm ct. Pete Gehle will get the start for the Goldeyes while Trois-Rivieres will counter with Garrett Bullock. If theres such a thing as a virtuoso on the football field, Vanderbilts Zach Cunningham is your guy. He plays the game so naturally, so instinctively and so consistently. The 6-4, 230-pound redshirt junior linebacker misses tackles the way Eric Clapton misses notes on his guitar. It doesnt happen.Fittingly, Cunningham plays a little guitar himself, going back to his youth at Birminghams New Life Evangelistic Worship Center. He taught himself to play and has since taken a few guitar classes at Vanderbilt. He prefers what he calls jazz type stuff but can play a little bit of everything. As humble as he is talented, Cunningham doesnt hesitate when asked whether hes a better football player or guitar player.Football, for sure, he says. Its doubtful anybody whos tried to block him this season would disagree, regardless of whether theyve heard him play the guitar. Thats because Cunningham has been unblockable. He wrecked just about everything Georgia attempted to do last week with a career-high 19 tackles in Vanderbilts 17-16 win over the Bulldogs, the Commodores first win at Sanford Stadium in a decade. His fourth-down stop of Isaiah McKenzie for no gain to preserve the win is the kind of play Cunningham has been making since he was a gangly 175-pound linebacker at Pinson Valley High School just outside of Birmingham, Alabama.Ive been seeing him do that forever, said Pinson Valley coach Matt Glover. I once saw him take the quarterback, then the fullback with one arm and still get out to the pitch man to make the play. The funny thing is that when he first came to me, he was a running back and we had to talk him into playing linebacker. He didnt like it at first, but looks like he made the right decision. There might be bigger names on the defensive side in college football, and there might be flashier players who get more headlines. But good luck in finding a more complete (or productive) defender than Cunningham, who ranks fourth nationally with 81 total tackles and second nationally with 13 tackles for loss. Against SEC competition, hes been even better with 55 total tackles and nine tackles for loss in four league games.Go back and watch that last play against Georgia, and you dont even see Zach in the picture, Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason marveled. All of a sudden, you see a blur and a snatch. You look up and youre like, Where did he come from? You dont coach that.Hes the best linebacker nobodys talking about. In truth, theyre talking about him, just not as much as they probably should be. One NFL scout told Cunningham had shown the versatility to play in a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme at the next level and was moving up draft boards weekly because of his ability to make plays sideline to sideline. The pro scouts also love Cunninghams length, and even though hes already put on 50 pounds since his high school days, he has the frame to put on 10 or 20 more.Cunningham redshirted his first year at Vanderbilt in 2013, but it didnt take him long to make an impression on Mason. During their first season together in 2014, Vanderbilt was playing Georgia, and Cunningham on three occasions tackled Todd Gurley in one-on-one situations. It was Zach and Gurley one-on-one. It wasnt Zach and somebody else and Gurley, just Zach, and he made the play all three times, Mason recalled. Guys in the NFL dont tackle Gurley in that situation, and it made me realize how special this young man can be. He sees things before they happen and has so many dimensions to him as a player, but what separates him is his ability to close and finish.Cunningham, whos majoring in economics, credits Mason and his inside linebackers ccoach, Chris Marve, for helping him to become a better tactician and better student of the game.ddddddddddddI watch film differently than I used to and have a lot more knowledge of the game and what offenses are trying to do, said Cunningham, who was a first-team All-SEC performer last season. Theyve helped bring more knowledge to me, and thats helped me play even faster and pick up quicker on what teams are trying to do.Marve, who was also an All-SEC linebacker at Vanderbilt, said its always easier to coach someone whos as passionate about the game as Cunningham.Hes in love with the game of football, and you see that every day in the way he prepares, Marve said. Hes always putting in extra time, but he also does a lot of things naturally that you dont see in a lot of players. You hear guys say they want to be great. Zach practices that way and approaches every game that way.Vanderbilt has had a ton of success with players from the state of Alabama. Earl Bennett, Zac Stacy, Jordan Matthews and Reshard Langford all come to mind. Cunningham also managed to get out of the state and signed as part of James Franklins last class at Vanderbilt before Franklin left for Penn State.Glover said hes never seen a player blow up in recruiting circles the way Cunningham did his senior year. He was still 17 when he graduated high school, and it wasnt until the eighth game of his senior season that he received his first SEC offer. The offers came flooding in after that, and Cunningham had Miami, Oregon, South Carolina and Tennessee all hot on his trail, along with Vanderbilt.Alabama and Nick Saban were interested, but the Crimson Tide wanted Cunningham to grayshirt -- waiting a semester to enroll -- and take that time to bulk up and get stronger. Auburn offered initially, but in the transition from Gene Chizik to Gus Malzahn, Glover said the Tigers informed him late that they were pulling the scholarship offer because they only had one left at linebacker and were saving it for Reuben Foster. The frenzy in the final hour didnt faze Cunningham, who wasnt a big name entering his senior season because he didnt spend the summer going to all of the camps and combines. Besides, he and his family had already set their sights on Vanderbilt and the world-class education the Commodores could offer.I just felt like I would develop more fully as a player and a person at Vanderbilt, Cunningham said. I fell in love with everything about Vanderbilt. It was more than just football. He concedes that being an economics major at Vanderbilt keeps him up late at nights studying but added, I kind of knew what I was getting myself into. Id talked to some guys who had majored in economics here before me and knew what was coming my way, but I wanted the challenge. What he doesnt want is engaging in any debate about where he ranks in the SEC or nationally with other linebackers. Hell leave that for everybody else.I dont really focus on stuff like that, Cunningham said. Im more focused on going out there and doing my best to help my team win. But, then, thats vintage Cunningham, the same guy who as a senior in high school got up to speak at the Mr. Football awards banquet in Montgomery, Alabama, and one of the first people he thanked was his home economics teacher for letting him borrow an iron to iron his shirt.Ive coached a lot of good ones, Mason said, but Zach is one of those guys who makes a lot of things right. And thats whether hes blowing up a play on fourth down or blowing it out on his guitar. SEOUL, South Korea -- South Korean prosecutors have indicted two baseball players for allegedly manipulating games for gambling purposes in what could be another blow to the reputation of the countrys professional sports leagues. Sergio Gomez Jersey .Prosecutors in Changwon city on Thursday said they believe pitcher Lee Tae Yang, a starter for NC Dinos in the Korea Baseball Organization, deliberately allowed first-inning walks and runs in two games last season after receiving 20 million won ($17,600) from a gambling broker, who has been arrested.Moon Woo-ram, an outfielder with South Koreas military baseball team in the KBOs second-tier competition, was indicted for allegedly receiving 10 million won ($8,800) in cash and gifts from the broker for connecting him with Lee, according to a statement from the prosecution office.According to prosecutors, Lee and the broker colluded over four of Lees starts between May and September last year, and the pitcher successfully delivered in two of the games. Lee had promised to give up at least a run in the first inning of a May 29 start against the Kia Tigers, when he ended up allowing five runs over four innings in a loss, and at least a walk in the first inning of an Aug. 6 start against the Lotte Giants, when he gave up two runs while lasting only three innings, prosecutors said. The Changwon-based Dinos issued an apology over the suspicions surrounding Lee, who has been left off the teams active roster since June 28 for what the team had described as an elbow injury, and said it was taking steps to terminate the contract.Lee, 23, enjoyed a breakout season for the Dinos in 2015, going 10-5 as a starter to help the team reach the playoffs. He was also part of the South Korean team that won the World Baseball Softball Confederations inaugural Premier 12 tournament held in Taiwan and Japan in November. This season, Lee was 2-2 with a 4.21 ERA before the team shelved him.Moon, 24, remains under contract with the Seoul-based Nexen Heroes and has been serving out his compulsory military service with the Korea Armed Forces Athletic Corps, whose baseball team competes in the KBOs secondary Futures League. If prosecutors prove the charges against the players in court, Lee and Moon may receive lifetime bans from the KBO, which would also prevent them from playing professionally in the United States, Japan and Taiwan based on agreements among the leagues, the KBO said.South Koreas major professional sports leagues, including baseball, soccer and basketball, have been rocked by match-fixing scandals in recent years that have led to jail sentences and lifetime bans of several players and coaches. The KBO has permanently banned two pitchers from the Seoul-based LG Twins who were convicted in 2012 for taking bribes from gambling brokers in exchange for deliberately walking batters.
