We all understand it is going to be a very hard task, but the belief in each other that we can get it done is very exciting. New Geelong defender Zach Tuohy has no intention of trying to fill the huge void left by the retirement of club legend Corey Enright. The Cats quickly targeted the dashing mid-sized defender in a trade with Carlton after Enright retired to take up a role on Chris Scotts coaching panel. But Tuohy says it would be folly to suggest he is a ready-made replacement for Enright, who retired as the clubs all-time games record holder with 332.I dont think too many people could replace Corey Enright ... Im not going to try and fill his boots, Ill just try to do my job, Tuohy said on Monday.Obviously hes a legend of the club and of the game. Its great that hes still around and Ill latch onto him at training and learn as much as I possibly can.Tuohy, 26, signed a four-year deal with the Cats, who sent utility Billie Smedts to the Blues with an exchange of draft picks at tthe recent AFL trade period. The Irishman is philosophical about his surprise departure from the Blues after 120 games in six seasons.Once it became apparent that I probably wasnt going to be at Carlton I had to see where my future was going to lie, he said.As soon as Geelong came along, theyre a club Ive respected hugely for a long time, I couldnt turn it down - it was too good an opportunity.I had a great time at Carlton and I love the club still ... but its a cut-throat industry - thats the way things are.Once the decision was made I was happy to move on and start my new career at Geelong.Tuohy wore the No.42 guernsey in his time with the Blues, but is keen for a new number as he starts a new chapter in his career. Socceroos players will not be asked to mute any goal celebrations against Thailand over the death of the countrys king.Thailand was plunged into a 30-day period of mourning following King Bhumibol Adulyadejs passing last month, prompting initial disruptions to Tuesday nights World Cup qualifier. After an early request to move the game to a neutral venue, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) agreed to host the Group B tie on November 15 as scheduled, on the condition fans refrain from singing, cheering and drumming. However the restrictions were subsequently relaxed on the basis the match falls one day after the official mourning period ends on November 14.Supporters would be allowed to bring banners and instruments and sing cheering songs and appropriately conduct joyful activities. What is considered appropriate remains open to interpretation. But while both teams will wear black armbands as a sign of respect, Postecoglou signalled he had no intention of instructing his players to sway from their usual match routine or celebrations on the pitch. The game needs to run normally, and from our intent it will be, Postecoglou said. The information we have is that the game will run normally so Im not going to try and manufacture something in the game or the context to reflect the circumstances of the game. Its been sanctioned to go ahead, so it goes ahead.A couple of thousand fans have made the trip from Australia, and coupled with a large expat community the match is expected to get the biggest turnout of any of the Socceroos away qualifiers. In terms of supporters its been well-documented, the expectations, Postecoglou said.Id be very surprised if the supporters arent respectful of that.We travel throughout the region and more often than not the supporters are well-behaved.Postecoglou was reluctant to call it a must-win game despite the implications the result could have on the second-placed Socceroos group standing. He was more focused on his team producing the right type of performance. We knew the first five games would be really tough because we had two trips to the Middle East plus this away game, and one of our home games against Japan, Postecoglou said.If we play well and claim maximum points well be on 11 points from five games.Regardless of what the others do well be in a good position with three home games next year plus Iraq at a neutral venue - so weve only really got one away game in the back half.Well let the others fight it out. RIO DE JANEIRO -- When the U. Cheap Air Max Shoes With Free Shipping .S. Olympic teams charter bus pulled up outside Flamengo Club before practice, police officers closed off the street and one of the motorcycle escorts jumped off his bike and immediately started blowing his whistle.Thats been a familiar noise to the Americans in Rio.Unbeaten but no longer unchallenged following a very physical, 98-88 win over Australia, the two-time defending gold medalists are still adjusting to FIBAs rules and officials, who call a different game than the one U.S. players have grown accustomed to at home and in the NBA.Its weird, actually, U.S. forward Kevin Durant said when asked to describe the differences. I cant even explain it.With 10 first-time Olympians, Americas star-studded squad, 3-0 heading into Fridays matchup against Serbia, is learning on the fly whats a foul, whats not, what they can get away with and what they cant.Right now, starting center Demarcus Cousins doesnt have a clue. The Sacramento star might as well have bought a ticket and sat in the stands at Carioca Arena 1 for the past two games. Cousins played only eight minutes before fouling out of a 44-point win over Venezuela and he was limited to just 10 minutes against the Aussies after picking up three quick fouls in the first half and No. 4 in the third quarter. The 6-foot-10 Cousins managed to score 6 points and grabbed eight rebounds during his brief outing against the Aussies, who didnt back down against the worlds top-ranked team and may have bent the rules as far as possible with their aggressiveness. Cousins didnt hide his displeasure about a couple calls that went against him, and angrily stormed to the bench where some of his teammates tried to calm him down and encourage him.Its nothing new to U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski, who has seen Olympic rookies struggle to adjust to the nuances of international basketball. Every player has to deal with it, but sometimes big men are an easy target.First of all, you get frustrated, Krzyzewski said. You cant get into a rhythm of playing. A couple of the times, theyre not fouls. Theyre just not fouls. But early on in the game, people like to set a tone in how the game is administered. So sometimes, they set it in the post. And so something is called a little bit closer than it would be five minutes later. And I just told him, `Youre a human being. You should be frustrated. Lets just move on to the next thing and see if we can handle that going forward, because we need you.In the amount of minutes hes been in there, hes performed very well. We need him to play more. The Americans will need him against the Serbs, one of the tournaments most physically imposing teams.Despite the loss, Australia, which has never won an Olympic medal but has its sights on one in Brazil, showed it might be effective to push the Americans. The U.S. team was slow to push back and didnt seal one of its closest wins in recent Olympics until the fourth quarter, when Carmelo Anthony and Kyrie Irving carried the Americans in the final minutes. It wasnt as much a wake-up call to the U.S. players as a reminder that everyone in the field is aiming at them.It was a good test for us, we definitely needed that, Durant said. They challenged us. I know we were expected to win the game and expected to be perfect. But every time I have played for Team USA weve had those types of games. We went into overtime in Turkey against Brazil in 2010 and then were tied up with Lithuania with a minute to go in 2012. So you go through those games no matter what. We got the biggest spotlight and the biggest bulls-eye on our back.Everybody wants to beat us so there are going to be games like that.U.S. forward Paul George said he and his teammates may have gotten a little lax after blowouts over China and Venezuela. As he said after the Australia game, It got real.I think the biggest lesson was not being content with where were at, he said. Weve been so great defensively and put up such huge margins of victory that the second they raised the level we kind of relaxed. We just got to stay consistent throughout the tournament.Krzyzewski is teaching his internationally inexperienced team -- only Anthony and Durant are returnees from the London team -- to watch their behavior when calls arent going their way. He has implored his players to show restraint so as not to make things worse.Theyre not cheating us is what I tell the guys, he said. Dont ever get into that. Theyre not cheating us. We just have to react to it differently. Over 10 years ago, we all were saying, `Were getting cheated. Weve not bought into that for a decade and were not going to do it now. Mitch Holmberg added a goal and three assists. Connor Chartier also scored for the Chiefs (3-0-0). Luke Harrison spoiled Garrett Hughsons shutout bid with a power-play goal at 13:17 of the third period. The Spokane goaltender finished with 28 saves, including a Brandon Fushimi penalty shot in the second period that would have tied the game 1-1. In his 50th Test match and a day short of 26 years old, Kane Williamson completed a full set of centuries against all nine other Test playing nations. He is the youngest player to achieve the feat, the 13th overall and only the second among the current crop of internationals, after Younis Khan.Having already celebrated three of the innings that contributed to Williamsons rise - his debut century against India in Ahmedabad, a subcontinental success in Sri Lanka and getting his name on the Lords honours board - ESPNcricinfo now takes an in-depth look at Williamsons full house. 102* v South Africa, Wellington 2012 Coming into the third Test of the series at 1-0 down, New Zealand were 83 for 5, chasing 389. South Africa were on the hunt for a second win and their attack was throwing everything at them. But nothing would dislodge Williamson. He survived a close call on 7, when a catch was not given, was dropped on 10 and 22, and then had to resist a rampant Morne Morkel, who hit him several times. Williamson saw out a session and a half with the tail, scored the only century by a home batsman in the series and secured the draw. Brendon McCullum said it would go down in New Zealand cricket history as one of the gutsier and more fighting efforts, of its time. 114 v Bangladesh, Chittagong 2013 With centuries in Ahmedabad and Colombo, Williamsons ability in subcontinental conditions had already been proved and he merely underlined that in this innings. Against a Bangladesh attack with five specialist bowlers and several spin options, Williamson dominated from the first ball he faced but was equally adept at adjusting to defence. His back-foot play was the hallmark of this knock, with delicate dabs, drives and cut, which allowed him to assert himself on the hosts. 113 v India, Auckland 2014 In their own backyard, New Zealand slipped to 30 for 3 in the first innings, before Williamson and McCullum got together to add 221 in a stirring rescue effort in which they scored at more than four runs an over. On a grassy surface, under overcast skies, Williamson was not just calm but aggressive early on. He maneuvered the ball into gaps, forcing MS Dhoni to spread the field. He had a lifeline on 32 when an edge was not taken and went on to hook Mohammad Shami and Zaheer Khan for six in a race to his century, which came off 138 balls. New Zealand ultimately won that match by 40 runs and won the series 1-0. 161* v West Indies, Bridgetown 2014 After scoring a century in New Zealands first Test victory in Jamaica, Williamson went even bigger in the decider in Barbados. New Zealand conceded a first-innings deficit of 24 runs and were 56 for 2 in their second innings before Williamson anchored New Zealand into a position of authority. Against spin on a tricky surface, Williamsons footwork allowed him to negotiate through tricky periods and his patience paid off. The bowlers eventually deferred to his strengths and runs came in the areas he enjoys scoring in - behind square on the offside and through midwicket. Williamsons 161 not out allowed New Zealand to set West Indies a target of 308, which proved enough for them to win their first series away from home against a top-eight nation in 12 years. 192 v Pakistan, Sharjah, November 2014 A rare lean patch saw Williamson struggle in the first two matches of New Zealands tour of the UAE but he made up for it in the third. While Brenndon McCullum smashed the then fourth-fastest double century in Tests, Williamson played second fiddle but only just. Nike Air Max Free Shipping Worldwide. He charged at the spinners, dismissed short balls with characteristic back-foot dominance, brought out plenty of short-arm pulls, and dealt with reverse-swing. Perhaps most impressive in his showing was the restraint Williamson showed in the immediate aftermath of Phillip Hughes death. Although never hugely emotional, Williamson was even less so despite what he was achieving. He fell eight runs short of a double ton but helped New Zealand to an innings-and-80-run victory, which saw them square the series. 242* v Sri Lanka, Wellington, January 2015 Williamson only had to wait just over a month for his first double, and it was a sweet one. New Zealand conceded a 135-run first innings deficit against Sri Lanka and then slipped to 79 for 3 in their second innings. This meant that they needed a big effort to avoid sharing the series spoils. Enter Williamson. He switched gears from a cautious first hundred, in which he was dropped on 29 and 60, to an attacking second one - although he was reprieved again on 104 - which helped New Zealand set Sri Lanka a target of 390. In the process, Williamson put on 365 with BJ Watling, the highest sixth-wicket stand for New Zealand. The hosts won the series and McCullum lauded Williamson, predicting he could become New Zealands greatest ever batter. 132 v England, Lords May 2015 England racked up 389 in the first innings of Williamsons second Lords match but he was not to be outdone. Martin Guptill and Tom Latham laid the foundation with a century opening stand and Williamson built on that in signature style. His innings was an execution in elegance and timing, laced with delicate drives and steers to a vacant third man area. He pushed the scoring rate towards four to the over and went to 92 overnight before having his name inscribed on the honours board the next day. New Zealand took a first-innings lead of 134 runs but it was not enough for them to win the match. 140 v Australia, Brisbane, November 2015 If New Zealand had started to think they were coming out of the shadows of their geographical big brother Australia because of recent gains, David Warner and Usman Khawaja showed them they had not. They scored aggressive centuries in the opening match in Brisbane as Australia declared on 556 for 4. New Zealands only answer was Williamson. He was the only batsmen to get a score above 50 and went on to almost triple his returns. He scored 68% of his runs in boundaries, picking gaps well, and complimented his cut shot with the leg-side paddle. He saved New Zealand from the follow-on but could not cushion them from defeat. 113 v Zimbabwe, Bulawayo, August 2016 In his first series as Test captain Williamson announced himself with 91 in the opening match and went one better in the next. On a flat Queens surface against an attack with neither express pace nor mystery spin, this may have been the least Williamson was challenged on his way to three figures but it still required the right mindset. Without underestimating his opposition, Williamson applied himself patiently to the task, took his time on a slow, low surface and worked his way towards a full set of centuries. Robert Pires met with Geoff Shreeves for his first full interview in English ahead of Arsenals trip to Old Trafford on Saturday. Cheap NHL Jerseys Free Shipping . The Frenchman talks about Arsenals title chances, the magic of Mesut Ozil and what he used to do when things got feisty against Manchester United... When Robert Pires invites me into his home for a chat Im struck as to how similar resident and property are. Tall, elegant and probably older than they look! But then again that is no surprise with Pires. The man is still training, and holding his own with Arsenals first team at the age of 43! He chuckles when I ask him about it, explaining how Arsene Wenger invites him to train occasionally, and on international weeks like this one its useful to have a body to make up the numbers. Pires carefully explains that he does not coach at Arsenal and has not been asked to by Wenger in any capacity. However, his former boss is very happy for him to pass on his experience to the current young Gunners.  Pires in action for Arsenal during his playing days That said, Pires feels this season Arsenal have more experience to mount a genuine title challenge. That is one factor, the other is Mesut Ozil. His eyes light up as he speaks of the German genius. Pires desperately tries to avoid comparisons with former players, but when pushed he cant help himself and admits he does see something of former team-mate Dennis Bergkamp in Ozil. Given Bergkamps god-like status within Arsenal folklore there is no higher praise. Pires says Ozil has always had the ability to read and play the game effortlessly at a superior level, but the key ingredient is that the Germany international has now added goals to his game. Pires wants to see him comfortably enter double figures for goals every season. When pushed further, he says Ozil is potentially the key component to Arsenal winning the title.  Pires compared Mesut Ozil to Dennis Bergkamp But what about their mental strength? Pires again points to the levels of experience within the squad, which should bring character and resilience with it. On that note, he says the upcoming game at Old Trafford will be a good test for Arsenals momentum, which they have gathered since losing on the opening day against Liverpool. On the subject of Manchester United, he offers an opinion on two of his fellow countrymen. He believes Paul Pogba is a world-class player and simply needs time to settle into the pace of the Premier League, while Anthony Martials best position is up top.  Six months half price Upgrade to Sky Sports to watch Man Utd v Arsenal on Saturday and get the first six months half price When we recall the likes of Roy Keane, Patrick Vieira, Ray Parlour and Nicky Butt, and the physical battles that occured on the pitch, Pires says its natural to be physical when two giants collide. Where was Pires when things got feisty? RIO DE JANEIRO -- Elia Viviani slammed hard into the wooden surface of the Olympic velodrome and thought, just for a fleeting moment, that perhaps his chances of winning a track cycling gold medal were over. Then he stood up. He realized he wasnt hurt. And he saw that he was still leading the omnium. So, Viviani hauled himself back onto his bike and proceeded to hold off stiff challenges from British cycling star Mark Cavendish and reigning gold medalist Lasse Norman Hansen of Denmark to win the multi-discipline event at the Rio de Janeiro Games on Monday. Its a bike race, Viviani said of the crash, caused when Cavendish collided with Korean rider Park Sang-hoon in the fourth corner. Were on a track, no brakes. When one guy changes directions in front of you and someone else is not ready to change directions, you crash.Talk about a pragmatic approach to a near-catastrophe.The omnium is contested over six events, but it came down to the points race, the final event where riders sprint for points every 10 laps and can earn bonus points for lapping the entire field. The tension was building when Cavendish, unaware of Park beside him, slashed down toward the bottom of the track. The Korean fell hard and lay motionless for several minutes while medical staff tended to him. He was eventually fitted with a neck brace and strapped to a backboard.Race officials said later Park did not sustain any serious injuries. It was my fault. I should have been looking where I was going a bit more, Cavendish said. I hope hes all right. And I apologized to Elia, he went down too.Meanwhile, Cavendish finally claimed the Olympic medal that has long eluded him.The winner of 30 stages of the Tour de France, Cavendish was the only British rider to miss out on a track cycling medal at the 2008 Beijing Games. He was also favored in the road race at the 2012 London Games but missed the podium.I did everything I could to prepare for this race. I did everything I could in the race, Cavendish said. Ultimately, I couldnt do anything more. So I have to be happy.Viviani was simply more consistent, wwinning the elimination race and finishing third in the individual pursuit and time trial Sunday. China NHL Jerseys. He then took second in the flying lap to start the final day of competition, building a 16-point lead over second-place Cavendish entering the points race.At that point, all Viviani had to do was mark his rivals moves.Hansen will certainly rue his last-place finish in the elimination race. The Danish rider won the scratch race and individual pursuit to take a huge early lead, but the bronze medalists stunning misstep in the third event of the program proved too costly to overcome.I think I just went too deep in the (individual pursuit), he said. All cross-eyed before the start and I knew I wouldnt have a lot in the tank. But I didnt expect to get last.Britain can conclude another monster performance in the velodrome on Tuesday night, when Becky James and Katy Marchant try for individual sprint medals, Laura Trott aims to defend her omnium title and Jason Kenny tries to win his third gold medal of the Rio Games in the keirin.Their team is trying to match its feat of the past two Olympics, seven gold medals in each.Britain has already won mens and womens team pursuit, along with mens team sprint and Kennys individual sprint title. Three more golds would match Britains effort from Beijing and London. The potential for seven gold medals in 10 events is even more astounding when you consider the British squad didnt even qualify a team for the womens team sprint.Oh, and James and Callum Skinner each have won silver medals, too.The path to gold in the individual sprint became easier for James and Marchant when Olympic champion Anna Meares of Australia lost in her repechage Monday. There is no one who will criticize me more than me, said Meares, who wound up finishing 10th in the individual sprint. The perfectionist within me makes it hard to comprehend this result. For the first time in 22 years, I just couldnt get anything more out. In the process, the Nationals will face the Nos. 12 (Danny Salazar), 38 (Carlos Carrasco), 45 (Jeff Samardzija) and 6 (Johnny Cueto) starting pitchers on our Player Rater.Dee Gordon is eligible to return to the Miami Marlins active roster on July 28, in time for all four games of the teams series against the St. Louis Cardinals.Part of the weeks scheduling oddities: The Baltimore Orioles and Minnesota Twins will play a make-up of their May 9 postponement on July 28, resulting in a seven-game week for the Orioles and a six-game week for the Twins. For the Orioles, theyll play night games on three consecutive nights, July 27-29, traveling 900-plus miles from Baltimore to Minneapolis, then just shy of 700 miles from Minneapolis to Toronto. The Padres and Toronto Blue Jays will play a three-game series on July 25-27 in Toronto in the only remaining location-specific matchup -- teams and host city -- that had never previously happened in the 20 years of interleague play. Every other possible interleague matchup has occurred at least once.Quickly jump to any section, if you want specific intelESPN lineup deadlinesInterleague impactProjected starting pitchersPitching scuttlebuttWeek 16 pitcher rankingsHitting ratingsHitting advantagesESPN leagues: Lineup deadlinesWere back to having only Monday night games in Week 16, as ESPNs Monday Night Baseball game kicks things off:?Detroit Tigers at Boston Red Sox at 7 p.m. ET. Fantasy owners have more time to set their weekly lineups this week.Remember that game times have tremendous influence upon daily planning, so be aware of every days first scheduled pitch. This week, they are:Monday, July 25: 7 p.m. ET (Tigers at Red Sox on ESPNs Monday Night Baseball) Tuesday, July 26: 7 p.m. ET (Chicago Cubs at Chicago White Sox on ESPNs Tuesday Night Baseball) Wednesday, July 27: 12:10 p.m. ET (two of six day games begin at that time) Thursday, July 28: 1:10 p.m. ET (Colorado Rockies at New York Mets, one of two day games) Friday, July 29: 2:20 p.m. ET (Seattle Mariners at Cubs, the days only day game) Saturday, July 30: 1:07 p.m. ET (Orioles at Blue Jays, one of three day games) Sunday, July 31: 1:07 p.m. ET (Orioles at Blue Jays, one of 14 day games)Interleague impactThis weeks interleague series:Cubs at White Sox (2 games, July 25-26)Rockies at Orioles (3 games, July 25-27)Padres at Blue Jays (3 games, July 25-27)Rays at Dodgers (2 games, July 26-27)White Sox at Cubs (2 games, July 26-27)Nationals at Indians (2 games, July 26-27)Braves at Twins (2 games, July 26-27)Mariners at Pirates (2 games, July 26-27)Mariners at Cubs (3 games, July 29-31)Mariners traditional DH, 5 games in NL ballparks:?Its generally Nelson Cruz (52 starts at DH), though Cruz has been playing a bit more often in right field of late, with Adam Lind making 10 starts at DH in the Mariners past 24 games as a way to get Dae-Ho Lee into the lineup against right-handers at first base. As the Mariners will face three left-handers in their five games in Week 16, Cruz and Lee are at the least risk of losing playing time in NL parks, and in fact, Cruz will probably start all five games in right field. Seth Smith, and to a lesser extent Lind, are the players to avoid, as Franklin Gutierrez seems likely to get the starts in left field against lefties.Rockies probable DH(s), 3 games in AL ballparks: Barring a swift recovery by Gerardo Parra (DL: ankle), the Rockies will probably go with the Daniel Descalso-Ryan Raburn tandem they used in New York on June 21-22. As the opposing Orioles will throw three right-handed starters, Descalso, a left-handed hitter, could start as many as all three games. If Raburn sneaks in a start or two at DH, Brandon Barnes would presumably start in his place in left field.Padres probable DH(s), 3 games in AL ballparks: The Padres have rotated DHs this season, though backup catcher Christian Bethancourt has a team-high two starts in four games at AL parks, so he could make multiple starts there in Toronto. Brett Wallace would be an obvious choice against right-handed pitching, while Matt Kemp could also get a look at DH to clear up an outfield spot for Alex Dickerson.Cubs probable DH(s), 2 games in AL ballparks: As Miguel Montero is usually Jake Arrietas catcher, Willson Contreras almost assuredly will DH in the Cubs July 25 game at Chicagos U.S. Cellular Field. The teams plan for the other game is whats unclear, as Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Tommy La Stella or Javier Baez could DH so that all four infielders can find a way into the same lineup. Contreras has been getting everyday at-bats anyway, so hes an automatic play, DH or no DH, but Baez should get a slight bump as a result of the Cubs gaining a DH.Rays traditional DH, 2 games in NL ballparks: Corey Dickerson?shifts into a straight platoon with Brandon Guyer in left field in games at NL ballparks. The Dodgers are likely to start two right-handers and Dickerson would still warrant 12-team mixed and AL-only appeal if the team faces five righty starters during Week 16.White Soxs traditional DH, 2 games in NL ballparks: Avisail Garcia and Justin Morneau have been serving in a straight platoon at DH recently, and as the opposing Cubs are likely to start two right-handers during their series at Wrigley Field, both players will probably serve as pinch-hitters for both games. Morneau appears unlikely to earn a start at first base ahead of Jose Abreu.Nationals probable DH(s), 2 games in AL ballparks: It might be wisest for the Nationals to DH Daniel Murphy, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury of late, in order to free up second base for Trea Turner. Thats the most likely arrangement, making Turner a worthy 14-plus-team mixed and NL-only play, but its also possible that the team could DH Jayson Werth in order to squeeze both Ben Revere and Michael Taylor into the same outfield.Braves probable DH(s), 2 games in AL ballparks: When the Braves most recently visited an AL park, July 8-10 at the White Sox, they used the DH to get both of their right fielders, Nick Markakis and Jeff Francoeur, into the same lineup. Francoeur could be worth the NL-only plug-in, but as hell face two right-handed starters during the series in Minnesota, so his value is limited.Projected starting pitchersThe chart below lists each of the 30 MLB teams schedules and projected starting pitchers for the week ahead, and provides a projected Bill James Game Score for each days starter.Projected starting pitchers, July 25-31 P: The starting pitchers projected Bill James Game Score, accounting for past history (three years worth as well as past 21 days), opponent and ballpark. A 50 is typically deemed a quality start by this measure, while a 70 is considered a dominant start.Pitching scuttlebuttOrioles: Vance Worley, the teams most recent fifth starter, was scheduled to start on July 24. That would line him up for a July 29 start during Week 16, though the team could always go in another direction, such as Ubaldo Jimenez, Odrisamer Despaigne, Mike Wright or Tyler Wilson.White Sox: Though Jacob Turner has been filling in for Carlos Rodon (DL: wrist), including on July 22, Rodon could be a candidate to return when that spot arrives on July 27 during Week 16. It is also unclear whether Chris Sale, whose July 23 start was skipped, will pitch sooner than the next time his turn in the rotation arrives on July 28.Tigers: Daniel Norris (DL: oblique) made a rehabilitation start for Triple-A Toledo on July 18 and could return to the Tigers rotation as early as July 24, replacing Anibal Sanchez. Norris could also make another rehab start and replace?Sanchez on July 30 during Week 16. Jordan Zimmermann (DL: neck), meanwhile, might make a rehab start on July 24, lining him up for a possible return on July 29 during Week 16, replacing Matt Boyd.Kansas City Royals: Brian Flynn is tentatively expected to get another start for the Royals on July 25.Los Angeles Angels: The Angels will need a fill-in for Nick Tropeano (DL: elbow) no later than July 26, with?Tyler Skaggs and Jhoulys Chacin the leading candidates. Skaggs made a rehabilitation start for Triple-A Salt Lake on July 20, so hed be on five days rest. Either pitcher could also be a potential replacement for the struggling Tim Lincecum, who is scheduled for July 29 during Week 16.Athletics: Rich Hill (blister) will miss his July 24 start, casting doubt upon his availability for Week 16 as well. Jesse Hahn will fill in on July 24, and could go again the next time that spot in the rotation arrives on July 30.Marlins: Wei-Yin Chen (undisclosed injury) was scratched from his July 25 start and will be replaced by Jarred Cosart. It is unclear whether Chen will be ready to pitch by the next time his turn in the rotation arrives on July 30.Nationals: Lucas Giolito made a July 24 spot start for the Nationals, but Joe Ross (DL: shoulder) might be ready to replace Giolito by the next turn in the rotation on July 30. Ross will make a rehabilitation start for Class A Hagerston on July 24 first.Cincinnati Reds: Keyvius Sampson was set to fill in as the Reds fifth starter on July 23, but due to their July 28 off day, the team appears likely to skip that spot in the rotation during Week 16. Homer Bailey (DL: elbow), who made a rehabilitation start for Triple-A Louisville on July 20, could be a candidate to rejoin the rotation during Week 16.Pirates: Tyler Glasnow filled in as the Pirates fifth starter on July 23, but shoulder discomfort cut his start short and it is unclear whether hell be able to pitch during Week 16. The team can skip that turn in the rotation due to July 25 and 28 off days.Arizona Diamondbacks: Braden Shipley will fill in for Zack Greinke (DL: oblique) on July 25, lining him up for a potential July 30 start as well. It is unclear whether Greinke will be ready to return during Week 16.Dodgers: After the Dodgers demoted Julio Urias to Triple-A Oklahoma City on July 22, it appears that they will use their July 25 and 28 off days to skip a starter during Week 16.Giants: The Giants flip-flopped Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija in their rotation, so Cueto will pitch July 28 and Samardzija July 29.Tristans Week 16 pitcher rankings1. Matchup ratings for each individual game are listed under the corresponding date.Hitting matchup chart, July 25-31 H: Hitters matchup rating, which accounts for the opposing starting pitchers past history (three years worth as well as past 21 days) as well as ballpark factors. L: Hitters matchup rating accounting only for left-handed hitters. R: Hitters matchup rating accounting only for right-handed hitters. S: Base stealing matchup rating, which accounts for the opponents catchers ability to gun down opposing base stealers. Ratings range from 1-10, with 10 representing the best possible matchup, statistically speaking, and 1 representing the worst.Hitting advantagesHere are this weeks volume plays, defined as the teams that play the most home games, or games against right- or left-handed starters:Total games: Orioles 7, Red Sox 7, White Sox 7, Royals 7, Angels 7, Rangers 7, Marlins 7, Mets 7, Philadelphia Phillies 7, Cubs 7, Milwaukee Brewers 7, Cardinals 7, Diamondbacks 7, Rockies 7, Giants 7.Home games: Rangers 7, Marlins 7, Mets 7, Brewers 7, Giants 7, Blue Jays 6, Twins 6, Indians 5, Cubs 5, Dodgers 5.Versus LH: Angels 4, Yankees 3, Tigers 3, Royals 3, Mariners 3, Mets 3, Cubs 3, Brewers 3.Versus RH: Blue Jays 6, White Sox 6, Braves 6, Marlins 6, Phillies 6, Nationals 6, Cardinals 6, Diamondbacks 6, Rockies 6. Six teams face five right-handed starters.Home games, left-handed starters: Those are considerable advantages for the Brewers as they call Miller Park home -- the No. 13 venue in terms of runs scored and No. 3 in terms of home runs per our Park Factor page -- and they have a wOBA 11 points greater (.324-.313) and strikeout rate two percent lower (24.2-26.2) against left- than right-handed pitchers. Chances are the Brewers could face as many as three lefty starters in Week 16 -- dedpending whether the Pirates use four or five starters -- making this an especially favorable week for Ryan Braun (.346/.422/.564 triple-slash rates against lefties), Chris Carter (.205/.333/.534) and Jonathan Villar (.340/.436/.510). Its also a good week to add and start -- in deeper leagues, at least -- Will Middlebrooks, who has five of the teams past seven starts at third base and hits .252/.305/.433 for his career against lefties.Speaking of favorable hitters environments, the Blue Jays also play the entirety of their week at Rogers Centre, generally a homer-friendly venue despite its middling ranking (15th) in the category this season. Interestingly, the Blue Jays have every bit as good a team wOBA against lefties (.341) as righties (.341), despite their being traditionally thought of as a righty-power-leaning lineup. One of the reasons is the breakthrough year by Michael Saunders, a .284/.360/.504 hitter against righties, a standout choice for Week 16 facing this much righty pitching. Justin Smoak is a lesser player to consider in a week like this, back in an American League park, as he should get all the starts at first base and hes a .241/.344/.456 hitter against right-handers.Its a good time to line up against the injury-plagued Angels pitching staff, and both the Red Sox and Royals benefit from being scheduled to play them in Week 16. The Royals stand out more from a matchups perspective, as in addition to possessing the greater number of widely available hitters, theyre the ones concluding their week with a four-game series against the Rangers at hitter-friendly Globe Life Park. Cheslor Cuthbert, the teams regular third baseman, is a .386/.393/.544 hitter in 16 games in July, and for those seeking cheap steals, Jarrod Dyson, a .256/.310/.462 hitter in 13 games in July, should benefit from a week of favorable base-stealing matchups. Cheap Air Jordan 3 From China . Terms of the deal were not immediately available. The 26-year-old finished last season with Clevelands Triple-A affiliate in Columbus after signing with the Indians in August. Cheap Jordan 3 Free Shipping .2 billion agreement with Rogers Communications for the leagues broadcast and multimedia rights. . LAUSANNE, Switzerland -- The Latest from the IOC meeting on Russias participation at the Rio Games (all times local):00:55 a.m.International Olympic Committee vice president John Coates says the IOCs decision not to ban all Russian athletes from the Rio Games reflected the need to be fair to athletes who hadnt turned to doping.Coates spent three days advising the IOC on the legal aspects of any decision relating to Russian sanctions for the games in Rio de Janeiro and explained the rationale in a statement released by the Australian Olympic Committee. We were mindful of the need for justice for clean athletes, said Coates, who is president of the Australian committee. We did not want to penalize athletes who are clean with a collective ban and, therefore, keeping them out of the games. The AOC endorsed the decision not to apply a blanket ban on all Russian athletes, with team leader Kitty Chiller saying The IOC has set down a very strict criteria and the Russians still need to clear the high hurdles to be able to participate in Rio.Chiller said she was advising Australian Olympians not to be concerned about the decision.I will be urging them to concentrate on their own performances, and wipe Russia from their mindset, she said.---00:45 a.m.The World Anti-Doping Agency is concerned that Russian whistleblower Yulia Stepanova wont be allowed to compete in Rio de Janeiro after courageously exposing the single biggest doping scandal of all time.Evidence of widespread doping in Russian track and field was provided by 800-meter runner Stepanova, who hoped to compete in Rio as an independent athlete. The IOC, however, ruled Sunday that her past doping ban means she cannot race at the Olympics next month.WADA director general Olivier Niggli says the organization is very concerned by the message that this sends whistleblowers for the future.---00:40 a.m.The World Anti-Doping Agency is disappointed that Olympics leaders have rejected their plea to ban Russia from the Rio Games.WADAs investigators had found further evidence that dope-testing in Russia has been manipulated by official bodies. But the International Olympic Committee decided against a blanket ban on Russians competing in the Rio Games next month, allowing each sport to decide on participation.WADA President Craig Reedie says the organization is disappointed that the IOC did not heed WADAs executive committee recommendations after investigators exposed, beyond a reasonable doubt, a state-run doping program in Russia that seriously undermines the principles of clean sport.---10:50 p.m.The umbrella organization representing national anti-doping agencies is disappointed that Olympic leaders did not ban Russia completely from the Rio de Janeiro Games. The International Olympic Committee has instead left it to individual sports to decide whether they want to exclude Russians from next months event.Joseph de Pencier, chief executive of the 59-member Institute of National Anti-Doping Organisations, says the IOC failed to confront forcefully the findings of evidence of state-sponsored doping in Russia corrupting the Russian sport system.Pencier has also rebuked the IOC for not finding a way to allow doping whistleblower Yuliya Stepanova who has been treated disgracefully by Russia to compete in Rio.The IOC rejected an application by the 800-meter runner who helped to expose the doping scandal to compete under a neutral flag at the games because she has been previously banned for doping.Pencier says it is a sad day for clean sport.---10:45 p.m.Russia looks set to send a five-rider team to equestrian events at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.International Equestrian Federation President Ingmar De Vos says there is no indication of any organized doping malpractices within the Russian equestrian delegation.Russia has qualified three rider and horse pairings in eventing, for team and individual competitions in Rio, and two pairings in dressage. No Russian equestrian cases were noted last Monday in a World Anti-Doping Agency inquiry report which suggested hundreds of covered-up positive tests were made to disappear in a state-backed doping program from 2011 to 2015.On Sunday, the IOC executive board asked Olympic sports federations to analyze the doping record of each athlete qualified to compete in Rio before their entry can be approved.De Vos says in a statement as long as there is no indication against any specific athlete I see absolutely no reason why the Russian equestrian athletes should not compete at Rio.---10:15 p.m.World marathon record holder Paula Radcliffe has accused Olympic leaders of weakness in the fight against doping and not doing enough to protect clean athletes.Radcliffe says it is unfair of the International Olympic Committee to leave it to individual sports to decide whether or not Russians should be allowed to compete in Rio de Janeiro.A truly strong message for clean sport would have been to ban all those who have been caught cheating, Radcliffe said in a statement posted on Twitter. In short, it does not send the clear message it could have done that doping and cheating in all Olympic sport will never be tolerated. The Briton called the Olympic bodys ruling a sad day for clean sport. A decision the shows that the IOCs primary concern is not to protect the clean athletes. The IOC is banning any Russian who has previously served a doping ban from Rio next month. But Radcliffe said this cannot fairly be only Russian athletes.---10:10 p.m.The leader of New Zealands anti-doping movement says the IOCs decision not to impose a total ban on Russian athletes at the Rio Games shows a lack of will to back the core principles of their organization with hard decisions.Graeme Steel also said placing international federations in charge of deciding which athletes can participate in Rio puts them in a conflicted position, because declaring them ineligible would infer that their own anti-doping programs arent up to par.He said the federations have neither the time nor the resources to make those decisions in a consistent way.---9:45 p.m.The head of cyclings ruling body, Brian Cookson, welcomed the IOCs decision to reject a blanket ban on the Russian team.Speaking with Sky TV, Cookson said the UCI will continue to look at the situation, case by case, before deciding which athletes can compete in Rio.I think well have to continue our detailed analysis of the situation, Cookson said. Which Russian rider has been selected for the Rio Olympics, who is in the registered testing pool, the biological passport, and so on. Frankly, I think I favor an individual approach rather than a blanket ban. I think that Russians cyclists are tested just as frequently as other nationalities. While rejecting a blanket ban on the Russian team, the IOC said Russia cannot send any athletes who have been sanctioned for doping, even if the sanction had been served. That decision is likely to rule out Ilnur Zakarin, who won a stage during the Tour de France which ended Sunday, and who served a two-year ban after testing positive for the anabolic steroid methandienone in 2009.---8:45 p.m.The International Judo Federation, whose honorary president is Russias President Vladimir Putin, has detailed its anti-doping testing before the Rio de Janeiro Games. The IJF says in a statement that it has already tested 84 percent of the 389 athletes from 136 countries who are qualified to compete in Rio.It made no mention of 11 places Russian judokas have in the lineup. The IOC on Sunday agreed detailed eligibility criteria for all Russian athletes that each Olympic sports governing body must oversee less than two weeks before the opening ceremony.Any Russian athlete or sports federation implicated in an ongoing World Anti-Doping Agency inquiry into state-orchestrated doping must be refused entry, the IOC said. The WADA report said eight positive tests in Russian judo were made to disappear in the state doping program since 2011.The IJFs links to Russia include a close ally of Putin, Arkady Rotenberg, sitting on its executive committee.---7:45 p.m.The International Tennis Federation says it expects Russias eight-player Olympic tennis team to compete at the games in Rio de Janeiro. The ITFs announcement came after the International Olympic Committee allowed individual sports to decide whether to allow Russians at the games. The IOC said it was imposing tough eligibility conditions, including proof of reliable anti-doping testing. The federation says the eight Russian tennis players who have been nominated to compete in Rio have been subject to a rigorous anti-doping testing programme outside Russia. It added that the ITF believes that this is sufficient for the eight Russian tennis players to meet the relevant requirement of todays decision of the IOC executive board. But the ITF added it will seek confirmation from the World Anti-Doping Agency that none of those players or the Russian Tennis Federation were implicated in the McLaren reeport. Wholesale Jordan 3 Sale. The report by Canadian lawyer Richard McLaren accused Russia of running a state-sponsored doping and cover-up program.---7:20 p.m.The body representing the 204 national Olympic committees has welcomed the IOCs decision not to impose a blanket ban on Russians from the Rio de Janeiro Games. The International Olympic Committees executive board decided to let individual sports federations decide which Russians should be eligible, following allegations of state-sponsored cheating by World Anti-Doping Agency investigator Richard McLaren.Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah of Kuwait, president of the Association of National Olympic Committees, says the allegations made in the McLaren report were shocking and directly threaten the integrity of sport. But Sheikh Ahmad believes banning the entire Russian team would have unfairly punished many clean athletes. He endorsed the IOCs decision to give international federations responsibility to ensure clean competitions in their sports at Rio 2016.---7:05 p.m.Two-time Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva has welcomed the International Olympic Committees decision to bar a renowned Russian doping whistleblower from competing at the games. The IOC said 800-meter Yulia Stepanova, who along with her husband provided evidence of widespread doping in Russian track and field, could not race in Rio because she once served a doping ban.Isinbayeva, who herself has been prevented from going to Rio as part of a blanket ban on the Russian track team, tells Russias R-Sport agency that at least one wise decision on track and field has been taken in Stepanovas case.Isinbayeva also called for Stepanova to be banned for life.Stepanova and her husband left Russia in 2014 citing fears for their safety and have been branded traitors by many Russian fans and officials.---6:45 p.m.Before the IOC made its ruling, Russias top Olympic official had warned the International Olympic Committee that its members would be bowing to geopolitical pressure if they banned Russia from next months games in Rio de Janeiro. In the text of Russian Olympic Committee president Alexander Zhukovs speech to the board, he compares a blanket ban on all Russian athletes to catching a criminal and then placing his family, friends and acquaintances behind bars just because they knew the criminal or they live in the same town.Calls to ban the entire Russian team went beyond the bounds of sport, Zhukov said, adding I call on you not to become hostages of geopolitical pressure.---6:10 p.m.Russian Olympic Committee head Alexander Zhukov says it will not appeal against an IOC rule to bar Russian athletes who previously served doping bans from competing at the Rio de Janeiro Games.Zhukov, who attended Sundays telephone conference of the IOC executive board, says he does not agree with the rule agreed just 12 days before the opening ceremony.Still, he says we dont have time enough to do such a thing like appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.A previous CAS verdict suggests the IOC rule could be overturned. In 2011, a CAS panel declared invalid the IOCs so-called Osaka Rule, which sought to bar athletes from the next Olympic Games if they served a ban for doping of at least six months.Zhukov does not rule out any Russian athlete filing an urgent appeal as an individual because all of them can go to CAS.---6:05 p.m.Russia is likely to be without some of its top athletes at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro thanks to an International Olympic Committee rule prohibiting former dopers from competing. While rejecting a blanket ban on the Russian team, the IOC said Russia cannot send any athlete who has ever been sanctioned for doping, even if he or she has served the sanction. That appears to rule out swimmer Yulia Efimova, the world champion in the 100-meter breaststroke, 2012 Olympic silver medal-winning weightlifter Tatyana Kashirina and two-time Olympic bronze medal-winning cyclist Olga Zabelinskaya. All three have previously served a doping ban.---5:45 p.m.The leader of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency says the IOC refused to take decisive leadership by stopping short of a complete Russian ban at the Olympics.Travis Tygart says the decision and the confusing mess left in its wake is a significant blow to the rights of clean athletes.Tygart also called the decision to refuse Yulia Stepanova entry into the games incomprehensible -- and a move that will undoubtedly deter whistleblowers in the future from coming forward.---5:20 p.m.IOC President Thomas Bach has defended the decision not to ban all Russians from the Olympics by insisting clean athletes should not be punished.Bach says an athlete should not suffer and should not be sanctioned for a system in which he was not implicated. The International Olympic Committee is leaving it up to international sports federations to decide which Russian athletes can compete in Rio de Janeiro next month.Bach accepted that the decision might not please everybody. But speaking on a media call, Bach added that this is not about expectations -- this is about doing justice to clean athletes all over the world.---5 p.m.The Russian Sports Minister says that the majority of Russias team complies with International Olympic Committee criteria on doping and will be able to compete in Rio.The IOC set extra criteria for Russian athletes when ruling out a complete ban. Athletes who have previously served doping bans will not be eligible, while international federations will also analyze an athletes testing history.Vitaly Mutko says the criteria are very tough, but thats a kind of challenge for our team... Im sure the majority of our team will comply.Around 80 percent of the Russian team regularly undergoes international testing of the kind specified in the IOC criteria, he adds.Mutko says he accepts the criteria but adds it is not fair that former dopers from other countries can compete.---3:55 p.m.The IOC has decided against a complete ban on Russian athletes from the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The International Olympic Committee says it is leaving it up to global federations to decide which Russian athletes to accept in their sports. The IOC says it will deny entry of Russian athletes who do not meet the requirements set out for the federations. The IOC says the federations have the authority, under their own rules, to exclude Russian teams as a whole from their sports.--2:20 p.m.Several Russian TV networks are joined by news crews for broadcasters from around the globe awaiting the IOC decision.Around 25 media are gathered at the front door of the IOCs temporary premises in Lausanne, about 400 meters from the Olympic Museum. Most are focused on finding shade from the 25-degree (77 Fahrenheit) sunshine as the IOCs president, Thomas Bach, leads a conference call of his executive board. It will consider a ban on Russian athletes from the Rio de Janeiro Games that open in 12 days time.Bach is not expected to meet with reporters after the meeting.Russian broadcasters expect IOC member Alexander Zhukov to emerge to update TV crews.Reporters from Brazilian, Chinese and Japanese broadcasters are among the group.---12:59 p.m.Russia is waiting to find out whether its entire team will be excluded from next months Olympics over the countrys doping scandal.Russia has already been handed a doping punishment when its track and field team lost an appeal against a ban on Thursday.Earlier interim IOC measures announced Tuesday included urging winter sports federations to move their competitions out of Russia this season, in response to allegations that Russian state officials hid hundreds of failed drug tests over several years and swapped samples from doped athletes for clean ones during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.Russia has admitted some doping violations by its athletes and coaches, but still denies that the government was involved. State media has painted the issue as a U.S.-led political vendetta.---12:37 p.m.Olympic leaders are meeting to consider whether to impose a total ban on Russian athletes from the Rio de Janeiro Games because of state-sponsored doping. The International Olympic Committees ruling executive board is meeting Sunday via teleconference to decide on sanctions following new allegations of a government-backed doping program involving Russian athletes in summer and winter sports.Russias track and field athletes have already been banned by the IAAF, the sports governing body, a decision that was upheld Thursday by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The World Anti-Doping agency and other anti-doping bodies have recommended a ban on Russias entire team. The IOC has said it would seek a balance between collective punishment and individual justice.Short of a complete ban, the IOC could let individual sports federations decide whether to allow Russian athletes in their events. AMHERST, Mass. Cheap Adidas Superstar China . -- On the same day Philadelphia 76ers No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons had foot surgery, former lottery pick Joel Embiid finally made his NBA debut after missing his first two seasons because of foot injuries. The 7-foot-2 Embiid scored six points, grabbed four rebounds and blocked two shots while playing 13 minutes in the Sixers 92-89 victory in their preseason opener against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. It felt great, Embiid said after the game. It was one of my goals. Im happy I crossed it off the list.I was pretty nervous, he admitted. I had trouble breathing, but once I got that first bucket, everything slowed down. I started seeing the game easier.Philadelphia coach Brett Brown said prior to the game that he planned to limit Embiid to about 12 minutes. All of Embiids minutes came in the first half. For his first game, when you watch him, you can see what can be with him, Brown said.Embiid missed his first three shots from the field, then scored on a turnaround in the lane with 1:18 remaining in the first quarter. He then knocked down a 23-foot jumper with one second left in the quarter. He made a pair of free throws in the second quarter.Offensively, I was pretty bad, Embiid said. Ive got to work on a lot of stuff. But I thought I was pretty good defensively.Embiids most recent game came back on March 1, 2014, when he was a freshman at Kansas. England 400 and 182 for 6 (Root 77, Bairstow 50*) trail India 631 (Kohli 235, Vijay 136, Jayant 104) by 49 runs Scorecard and ball-by-ball detailsWith his sublime 235 off 340 balls, with 25 fours and a six, Virat Kohli became the first Indian to three double-centuries in a year. Cheap Jordan Retro 6 For Sale . As soon as he left the crease and England were in to bat the pitch began to look like a minefield. The visitors were trailing by 49 runs at stumps and had only four wickets in hand to mount a challenge. Their plight - especially after scoring 400 in the first innings - was largely due to one man. And it was to see that man bat that people thronged to Wankhede stadium.Kohli broke a slew of records. The most runs by an Indian in a series against England - Rahul Dravid was left behind. The most runs in an innings by an India captain - MS Dhoni was left behind. In 2016, he has made 1200 runs at an average of 80 and a strike-rate of 60.Making the day sweeter for India was Jayant Yadav, who made 104 off 204 balls in a record stand of 241 for the eighth wicket. He had the highest score at No. 9 (211) and was part of the largest eighth-wicket partnership (392) in Indian first-class cricket. Having replaced the man with whom he put on that partnership - Haryanas Amit Mishra - he came to hold the corresponding records for India in Test cricket too.The spotlight wouldnt budge from Kohli, though. A crunching straight drive in the first over of the day converted his fourth successive hundred into a 150-plus score. In the 162nd, he only rolled his wrists on a straight delivery, but it skipped away to the backward square leg boundary. The timing was such that it beat Englands best fielder Ben Stokes, and the placement was such that it was well to the right of the man.Kohli batted for over eight hours. The concentration it must have taken, the mental and physical strain he must have felt to play an innings of such quality on a difficult pitch was finally on view as he walked off for lunch with a tired smile on his face. In the dressing room, everyone from the support staff to his team-mates patted him on the back. When he came out in the second session, he biffed Chris Woakes back over his head for a six and ran like mad for a single next ball. The shot the fans cared about most came a little earlier. A gentle little flick in the 165th over, all along the ground, to the left of midwicket. It raised Kohlis 200. Smart phones were out to record the moment. Anil Kumbles camera didnt miss it either. A little slice of history to put in the back pocket. In all of Test cricket, only five men have made three or more double-hundreds in a year: Don Bradman, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Brendon McCullum and now Kohli.Englands response to that innings came from Joe Root. If it hadnt been for his firebrand style of play England may never have reduced their deficit to 49 at stumps. Root made 77 off only 103 balls against two of the best spinners in the world on a surface that had become rank.Considering it had waited 312 overs to do so should make it immune to criticism. Besides, its pace was true. That meant batsmen picking length early and looking to score first and defend second would flourish. Root exemplified those characteristics well as he swept the spinners hard and stepped down the track often to take balls on the full and paste them through the covers. India were forced to pull the close catchers out and Root inside edged Ashwin to short leg when there was no one there. He fell lbw to Jayant in the last hour of play, deceived into going back to a full delivery because its pace was quicker and trajectory was flatter. These are the kinds of tricks that made India such a force in their own conditions. That and their accuracy, which separated them from Englands, especially where the scorecard was concerned.Anything on the fourth day at Wankhede would turn. A straight line drawn on it would come out a semi-circle. India turned to spin in the eighth over and Ravindra Jadeja got the ball to turn square thrice in a row. Close catchers buzzed around the batsman like mosquitoes, and puffs of dust erupted even off the undisturbed parts of the surface let alone the rough.Alastair Cook was the visitors best bet at playing time. Two overs before tea, however, he went back in an effort to flick a good length ball with the turn through square leg. But Jadeja, by virtue of being quicker through the air, had the England captain hurrying into his shot, losing his shape and out lbw. It was Jadejas 100th wicket in his 24th Test; equal fastest to the mark with Ryan Harris and Lance Gibbs and one match slower than Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Saqlain Mushtaq.Moeen Ali came out to bat with four men crowding him. He picked one of them out, extra bounce making his little nudge off the hip carry to M Vijays right at leg gully. In the five minutes to tea, England had lost two wickets to add to Keaton Jennings golden duck.Jonny Bairstow resisted with an unbeaten 50, producing some memorable moments. He tried to shoulder arms to a ball from R Ashwin pitching about four feet outside the line of off stump only to have it strike him on the stomach. He went to cut the same bowler and was beaten by the turn that was so sharp it went past the wicketkeepers left. His use of DRS was pristine as well. He was given out twice in the space of five overs but used the technology to save himself. Not everyone enjoyed Bairstows street-smarts though. Umpire Bruce Oxenford actually threw his head back in exasperation at the second review, which was asked for so quickly he possibly knew he had made a mistake and giving the batsman out caught at short leg.England were very nervy in the last 15-20 minutes minutes, into which India squeezed five overs. Indeed, Jadeja finished one in a minute or so to give Ashwin a go at the nightwatchman, Jake Ball, and did him with a topspinner to end the day. They had lost Ben Stokes prior to that, reverse sweeping the ball onto his boot for second slip to catch it on the rebound. It was a bit cruel all this happened to England on the same day they conceded 180 runs at 4.44 runs per over.Indias overnight lead was 51. They had got seven wickets and if the remaining three had fallen quickly, Cook and his men may have felt they still had a chance. In 34 overs on the fourth morning, there wasnt a single breakthrough. When India were finally all out after lunch, they had pulled ahead by 231 runs.Kohli was the ninth wicket to fall when his lofted drive carried to deep extra cover. Plenty of England players came to congratulate him, including Stokes and Bairstow. All at the Wankhede stadium were on their feet. His partner for much of the day, Jayant, had begun by scything a half-volley from Rashid through the covers and then the ensuing short ball was cut behind point. He was more than a match for an inswinging yorker from Ball in the 149th over and the good length delivery that followed was driven to the cover boundary with some style.Jayant seems to think like a top-order batsman. He spotted mid-on was up with Moeen bowling around the wicket in the 155th over, danced down the track and lofted the ball over the fielders head. Cook put a long-on in for the next ball and the batsman tapped a single to him. Jayant outscored Kohli in the first hour, 42 runs to 36, en route to sweeping records of his own.Having allowed the oppositions eighth wicket to post more than 200 runs for the first time since 1908, England were able to knock Indias No. 10 and 11 quickly enough. Then, Bells two-run single in the top of fifth chased starter Matt Garza (5-8).Staked to a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth, Brault walked Jonathan Villar who stole second and moved to third on Orlando Arcias single to center. Pirates manager Clint Hurdle made a move to his bullpen and brought in Jared Hughes (1-1) to face Chris Carter. It is first and third with nobody out in the fifth, Hurdle said. Where we are in the season right now, I felt (Brault) gave us (enough.) It is a sticky situation.Carter lined Hughes first pitch at third baseman Jung Ho Kang, who fielded the ball cleanly and turned it into a double play that deflated the rally. Hughes struck out Domingo Santana to end the threat. We ended up scoring a run, but thats two outs right there on one pitch, Carter said. He ended up (retiring) the next guy. That kind of changed the momentum right there.Brewers manager Craig Counsell was even more emphatic. That was a big play, he said. We had guys on first and second and got to their bullpen. Chris hit a ball hard, and he made a nice play. That certainly was the play of the game, for sure. The Brewers went quietly the rest of the way against the Pirates bullpen. You want guys who can come in and have some experience and take care of it from there, Hurdle said. And thats exactly what happened.Wade LeBlanc pitched the sixth which ended on another double play. Juan Nicasio set the side down in order in the seventh. Antonio Bastardo struck out two in the eighth and Tony Watson tossed a perfect ninth for his 14th save in 17 chances.Brault was making his seventh career start and had already lost twice to the Brewers. He allowed Santanas run-scoring double in the third and Martin Maldonados home run in the fourth. Brault scattered five hits, struck out four, walked two and was three outs from his first major-league win.Even though I couldnt go the five and get the win, I kept my team in it, Brault said. PHILADELPHIA -- With each start, Jonathan Pettibone is building a strong case to stay in the majors. Cheap Air Jordan 4 Clearance . Pettibone pitched neatly into the seventh, Kevin Frandsen and Domonic Brown hit solo homers and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cleveland Indians 6-2 on Tuesday night. John Mayberry Jr. had three hits and three RBIs, including a go-ahead two-run double for the Phillies, who won their third straight game to get within two games of .500. Pettibone (3-0) allowed two runs and four hits in 6 2-3 innings, the longest of his five career starts. Three relievers got the next four outs and Jonathan Papelbon finished in a non-save situation after Philadelphia tacked on two runs in the eighth. Pettibone, a 22-year-old righty, came up from Triple-A when John Lannan went on the disabled list. With Roy Halladay now out indefinitely, Pettibone isnt going anywhere, especially if he keeps pitching like this. "He does a tremendous job," manager Charlie Manuel said. "He pitched a good game, kept his composure, stayed focused on what he was doing." The Phillies improved to 12-4 when Pettibone, Kyle Kendrick or Lannan start. Theyre 7-16 in games started by the $64.5 million trio of Cole Hamels, Halladay and Cliff Lee. "My first start, I didnt get any sleep the night before," said Pettibone, who lowered his ERA to 3.41. "Now I can get a full nights sleep. You just build confidence and try to build off each start." Clevelands Scott Kazmir (2-2) gave up four runs and six hits in five-plus innings. The Indians had won seven of nine. They swept a two-game series at home against the Phillies two weeks ago, outscoring them 20-2. "I thought he did a good job, unfortunately," Indians manager Terry Francona said of Pettibone. "When he needed to, he got a double play. He kept us off balance. I thought he pitched a pretty good game." Brown got Philadelphias rally going in the fourth by lining a one-out single. Carlos Ruiz then walked to bring up Mayberry. He ripped a two-run double to left-centre to put the Phillies up 3-2. Brown roped his seventh homer into the right-field seats to make it 4-2 in the sixth. Since Brown hit a three-run homer against the New York Mets on April 27, the teams last 16 homers have been solo shots. "I think its a matter of time and we can end up having a good offence," Manuel said. Mayberry and Freddy Galvis had RBI singles in the eighth. Frandsen hit a 1-2 pitch into the flower bed just beyond the left-field wall to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead in the first. "They really took it to us," Frandsen said, recalling the previous interleague meeting. "They just kicked our butt. You dont want to be embarrassed and we felt we got embarrassed there. Its a big win tonight." Nick Swisher led off the second with a single and Carlos Santana followed with an opposite-field double down the left-field line. After Mark Reynolds popped out to shallow right, Michael Brantley hit a two-run single up the middle off a 1-2 pitch. Asdrubal Cabrera led off the eighth with a triple off Antonio Bastardo, but was stranded. Bastardo struck out Nick Swisher looking. After Santana walked, Justin De Fratus entered and retired Reynolds on an infield pop. Jeremy Horst then came in and fanned Brantley to end the inning. Pettibone had location issues in the third when he loaded the bases on a walk and hit consecutive batters. But he retired Reynolds on a pop-up to escape the jam. The surprising Indians, coming off a 68-94 season, are 21-17 under first-year manager Terry Francona, who managed the Phillies to four losing seasons from 1997-2000 before leading Boston to two World Series titles in 2004 and 2007. NOTES: Kazmir hit Frandsen twice. Frandsen, who started to give Chase Utley a day off, is 7 for 15 with two homers and four RBIs against lefties. ... The Indians are 0-4 at Citizens Bank Park. ... Clevelands starters are 11-4 in the last 17 games. ... Philadelphia is 14-4 when scoring at least four runs. .... Hamels (1-5, 4.18) faces Cory Kluber (2-2, 5.64) Wednesday afternoon. WINNIPEG -- Expect a little bit of bad blood when the Dallas Stars meet the Winnipeg Jets at the MTS Centre on Thursday night. Its not that theres any particular score to be settled but when teams play back-to-back games, the hits tend to a little harder, the whacks a little louder and the back checking a little more rigorous. The Stars drew first the first cut Tuesday night at the American Airlines Center with a 3-2 victory, despite playing without a half-dozen regulars.I like the back-to-back, Stars coach Lindy Ruff told the Winnipeg Free Press. It builds a little bit of emotion inside games. Theres usually something that will carry over from game to game. I think in this league sometimes you only play one team in January for the first time.Jets coach Paul Maurice agreed.I like (back-to-back games) an awful lot. I think you get a little more room to work on adjustments that youd make instead of bouncing around a lot. You can work on themes with the team and I think the rivalries get built a little stronger as well, he said to the Free Press. The Jets are spending a fair amount of time working on their power play, which sits at an anemic 10 percent -- two goals in 20 chances -- which is 25th in the league. As incredulous as it may sound, thats actually a relative improvement as the Jets were last in the league last year with the man advantage. The penalty-killing is even worse, sitting at 29th with a success ratio of 68.8 per ccent. Wholesale Air Jordan 4. If they can find something -- anything -- that works, the Jets just might be able to avoid pulling the goalie, something they have done in all six of their games this year. (They have managed to score three goals with the net empty, ultimately pulling off a pair of wins.) The Jets sit at 2-4-0 for four points and are last in the Central Division. Dallas sits in third in the same division with a record of 3-2-1 and seven points. The Jets will play a whopping 15 games over the next 27 days, including nine on the road. The Stars, meanwhile, are starting a three-game road trip. The Stars come to Winnipeg with a number of their highest-profile players in sick bay, including forwards Jason Spezza (lower body), Jiri Hudler (illness) and Patrick Sharp (concussion). Captain Jamie Benn didnt skate Wednesday as hes dealing with soreness related to abdominal surgery in the summer. The Jets havent been immune from the injury bug either as forwards Bryan Little (lower body) and Drew Stafford (upper body) are out indefinitely. There are precious few connections between the two teams but one player, defenseman Johnny Oduya, enjoys coming back to Winnipeg. He played most of the teams first season after relocating to Winnipeg from Atlanta in 2011-12 before being dealt to Chicago at the trade deadline.
