Aaron Shea can laugh over the fact he is selling title insurance 16 years after his dear friend and Michigan teammate, Tom Brady, wondered if he would end up in the same profession. Brady was picked 199th in the 2000 draft by the New England Patriots, or 89 spots after Shea was picked by the Cleveland Browns, and the quarterback knew he was on shakier ground than the tight end.Brady looked around coach Bill Belichicks first camp in New England and worried that the numbers game was tilted against him. Tommy wasnt sure he was going to make the team, Shea recalled. He wasnt sure they were going to keep four quarterbacks. He said to me, I might be getting cut. Dont forget about me. I might end up selling insurance. Its hard to believe the four-time Super Bowl champ ever questioned his own ability to survive and thrive in the NFL, especially since a young Brady made that legendary guarantee to Patriots owner Robert Kraft that he would grow into the best decision this organization has ever made. Only the self-doubts were there, however small. Brady had played in the East-West Shrine Game after his senior season at Michigan, and Shea had played in the Senior Bowl with the higher-rated quarterbacking likes of Chad Pennington, Chris Redman and Gio Carmazzi.Hey, Brady asked his friend, how were those quarterbacks there?Man, Shea responded, you are better than all of them.Ah, Brady answered. Youre just telling me that.Whatever insecurity Brady was feeling over his uneven Michigan career was ultimately overwhelmed by the quarterbacks raging inferno within, his unbending desire to settle the score by tilting scoreboards. Its a relevant point to reconsider now that Brady is done with his four-game suspension for Deflategate and is heading to Sheas town, Cleveland, to begin raging against the machine that is Roger Goodells NFL.Brady returns to a 3-1 team positioned to make a run at his seventh Super Bowl appearance, and he returns a bitter man. He swears he had nothing to do with the alleged deflation of Patriots footballs before the AFC Championship Game victory over the Colts two seasons ago, and he likely believes the only way to right this perceived wrong is to win a record fifth Super Bowl ring with properly pressurized balls.I think Deflategate hurt Tommy a lot more than hell let anyone know, Shea said. We barely talked about the details other than a lot of f-bombs going back and forth. But now youve pissed off the GOAT [greatest of all time]. I grew up in Illinois, and if you got under Michael Jordans skin, he would score 50 or 60 on you. This is only going to make Tom better. Its going to hurt the other 31 teams because Tom is healthy, he didnt have to take any hits the first four games, and now hes angry.I want him to stick it to Roger Goodell so bad. At the end of the year, I want him up there holding that Lombardi Trophy and taking it from Roger Goodell. Then Id tell Tom, Thats it, man, you couldnt go out any better than that. Its just that every year he adds two seasons to how long he wants to play. He may play until hes 50.Tom Brady is 39, and he eats avocado ice cream, among other ghastly things, in his 24/7 fight with the natural-aging process. Above all else, his competitive fire is the thing that has kept him young, and that could be really bad news for Cleveland and the rest of the NFL.Shea knows better than most. He played six seasons for the Browns and later worked as the teams director of player engagement, and in all his years around major college and professional football players, he has never met anyone more driven than Brady, the godfather of his 5-year-old son Kinzy.Shea recalled the 1998 Michigan-Ohio State game, won by the Buckeyes after the Wolverines had gone 10-2-1 in the previous 13 meetings. Brady threw for 375 yards that day, a Michigan record, but the junior quarterback was enraged by the loss and the sights and sounds of Ohio State fans rushing the field before time expired. This will never f---ing happen again, Brady told Shea as they trudged toward the locker room. The following season in Ann Arbor, Brady threw two touchdown passes in the final 16 minutes of his final home game to lead Michigan to a comeback victory in one of the sports most storied rivalries.Hes always had that burn that he really doesnt ever shut off, Shea said. We had apartments right above each other -- he had the top one that was always perfectly clean, and mine was always trash -- and youd hear his door shut at five or six in the morning. He was going to run the stadium steps by himself, and then hed come back and do it again with the rest of the team.Tom would ask me to go with him for film study, and Id hop in the car with him. But wed be there forever, and Id go, Hey, you said this would be an hour. Now its two hours. Youre trapping me here. We drove separately after that.Of course, Bradys time at Michigan is defined not by what he achieved, but by what he didnt. He was a field goal holder for the unbeaten 1997 national championship team quarterbacked by Brian Griese. He seriously considered transferring. He seriously worried he might remain on Lloyd Carrs bench for his junior and senior seasons after the Michigan coach landed everybodys All-American, a local named Drew Henson.Carr has gotten a bit of a bum rap over the years, as Brady became Brady in the big leagues, for this simple reason: There wasnt a college coach in America who didnt want Henson as his quarterback, and who wouldnt have felt immense pressure from the students, alumni and fans to get him under center as quickly as possible. In their two years together, even though Carr at times used the two quarterbacks in an ill-conceived rotation, Brady threw 691 passes for 35 touchdowns to Hensons 137 for six.By the numbers, Carr knew Brady was the better man. Before the 2000 draft, he offered the only NFL executive to inquire about his quarterback, New Englands Bobby Grier, the following pledge: Bobby, theres no doubt in my mind that Tom Brady will be a starting quarterback in the NFL.According to Bradys former Michigan teammate Jay Feely, a longtime NFL kicker, the rocky road from Ann Arbor to Foxborough ended up benefiting his friend. All the trials and tribulations and everything Tom had to do to prove himself to Lloyd Carr, to the world and to the NFL, Feely said, that all led to the chip on his shoulder that exists today.Deflategate turned that chip into a boulder. Brady hasnt done any talking this week at his teams facility, leaving his close friend, Shea, to do some talking for him. The former tight end remembered that Brady wouldnt play him one-on-one in basketball at Michigan (He knew Shea was the superior player), and that hed only play him in the shooting game of P-I-G, a game Brady mastered by hitting the same near-impossible bank shot from the baseline over and over again.Beat me every time, Shea said, and it drove me nuts. He knows how desperately Brady tries to avoid losing to a friend, a stranger, a defensive back, a defensive coordinator or an NFL commissioner. In 2007, the Patriots quarterback famously scorched and berated a Steelers safety who had guaranteed victory. In 1999, the Michigan quarterback less famously blasted a jeering intramural basketball opponent (the frat boy was razzing him about Henson) with a blind screen that Brady buddy Jay Flannelly described as: a Charles Oakley-like pick. Tommy killed the guy, just blew him up, and the kid was on the ground for five minutes looking for his face. All these years later, Brady doesnt have to hunt for his next opponent which he believes did him wrong. Asked if he thinks the godfather of his son wants to stick it to Goodell, Shea said: One hundred percent. Hell never tell anyone that, but were all human. You want to stick it to someone who stuck it to you. Deflategate was a witch hunt for Goodell and all the other owners who wanted to slow the Patriots down. And now everyone in the NFL knows Tom is back and fired up. If theres one guy in the history of sports who didnt need to cheat, its Tommy Brady.Shea said hell be visiting with the visiting quarterback Saturday night. He said that hell be wearing his Brady cap, and that his son Kinzy will be wearing his Brady jersey when they attend the Patriots-Browns game Sunday (1 p.m. ET, CBS).Shea hasnt been to a Cleveland game since the organization let him go in 2014. He still has some friends working for the home team, and still has a desire to see the Browns someday exorcise the same legion of ghosts that LeBron James exorcised on the basketball side of town.My poor Browns just cant catch a break, Shea said. Its just their luck that they didnt get the Patriots on the schedule in Week 3. But Tom is family, and Ill be pulling for him. I think hes going to light the Browns up, and I think the Browns know its coming. And so does the rest of the NFL. The second-seeded Wawrinka was unable to continue after a medical timeout more than two hours into his match with Feliciano Lopez, who was leading 6-4, 2-6, 4-3 at the time. Wawrinka, ranked No. 10, extended an unhappy run at his home tournament. He has won only five matches — all against players outside the top 50 — in seven visits since reaching the 2005 final. Why did I leave Australia to play cricket in England, in 1990? Simple. Because Im English.I became good mates with Brian Lara because I was the first person to hit him on the head - in an Under-19 Test Match, playing for Australia. In Australia, Test cricket has always come before first-class cricket, but when I first came over, in England, it was all about county cricket and the England team second.I didnt take myself seriously with the bat. Of course I was shit. But I loved it. I hooked Wasim Akram for a six once. The plan was always to play for England. Some politics kept me out of the side for a while.I made my first-class debut for Western Australia in the 1987-88 Sheffield Shield final. I wasnt even in the state squad, but Bruce Reid and Peter Capes got injured and the back-up bowlers werent thought to be good enough to play against Queensland. One of the senior players, Wayne Andrews, said, I know a young bloke wholl walk into the team and do a bloody good job. And that was me.I played my last three years with a broken rib that wouldnt heal.Rodney Marsh thought I should have been in the 1989 Australian Ashes squad. Shane Warne thought I should have had 80 Tests for England. In my first year I came to Hampshire and played for the second team. They said I couldnt play for the first team because of the politics, they said I wasnt English. Graham Gooch tried to get me to play for Essex, and I said no. So for the next five or six years, all Graham Gooch had to say was, Hows this guy playing county cricket? Hes not even English. Thats why I wasnt picked for England. It took a few years and a lot of wickets to prove that I was English and good enough to play for England. There were no Kolpak players back then. These days if you can pick out where England is on the map, you can qualify and get a game for England. In 1990 I had 27 days straight on the road, up and down the country, playing county cricket. They invited me down to practice [before the 1987-88 Shield final] and about two seconds after I arrived, I had a camera shoved in my face and I was asked what it was like to be playing in the Shield final. Id been following the West Indies and didnt even realise there was a Shield game on. I remember bowling to Kim Hughes and Graeme Wood in the nets, so I bowled pretty quick, put a few round their heads a few times, and then Graeme Wood said, Youre playing in the final.I bought a one-way airline ticket when I left Australia, aged 18.I hooked Allan Donald for a six once, and before the next ball, Darren Gough, who was batting with me, says, Hes going to kill you now. Next ball, Donald bounced me and it hit me on the side of the neck. The only time I ever saw Warne lose 100% focus was when he was bowling round the wicket, against Surrey, with two men on the leg side, trying to bowl the batsmen round their legs. The ECB had this stupid rule back then, where they told umpires to call wide if a spinner bowled one down the leg side. To stop negative bowling. So Warney bowled it there, it missed the batsmans leg by a whisker and then turned so much that the wicketkeeper took it outside the off stump. And the umpire wided him. Ridiculous. In Australia, when you get picked for your country its a huge deal and everyone knows about it. When I got picked for England, I found out through a phone call, down in the office at Leicestershire, from Sky Television, saying, We want to interview you about playing cricket for England on Sunday. Oh, brilliant. Im playing, am I? No ones told me.Im writing my autobiography. Itll be out next summer. It wont be boring because Im not boring. How they ran the show back then was a bit of a joke. Jon Agnew tells a story of how he was picked to play for England. Hes turned up in the dressing room. David Gower, the England captain, was his team-mate at Leicestershire. And he said to Aggers: What are you doing here? And he said, You should bloody know, you picked me.Playing club cricket, I hit a guy called Jason Constable in the head and nearly killed him. He didnt wear a helmet. In my first Test, I guided Nasser Hussain through to his first England hundred. The first ball Javagal Srinath bowled to me, I tried to give it the old Gordon Greenidge - off the back foot on the up through the covers. Played and missed. Hussain came down the wicket. He didnt know what to say. He was close to a hundred. Just watch the ball and stick around. I said, Yeah, no problem man. A few balls later I hooked one for four. Hussain made his hundred, and then soon after, he got out, hooking, caught fine leg. We were walking off and I said, Jesus Christ, Hussain. Youve cost me another fifty. My batting went from bad to incredibly worse over the next few years.Mark Nicholas once said on commentary that Mullally brings a relaxed and calm aura to the England team.Steve Waugh tried to give me his mental disintegration. I bowled round the wicket and he blocked it. And he said, What do you follow-through so far for, Mullally? Anyone would think youre a fast bowler. And I said, Look, Mr Stephen Waugh, the reason I follow through so far is because Im a very poor athlete and it takes a long time to put the brakes on. He didnt know what to say then. The way England did things was not the best, and thats why we werent the best.We were crap in the 1999 Worrld Cup.dddddddddddd Against Zimbabwe we should have knocked off the 170 we needed to win in 30 overs. Then wed have been through on run rate, whether we beat India or not. The lads out there were having a net session. In the dressing room, me and Goughie were tearing our hair out, thinking, Any chance of playing some shots? Then we lost against India and were out. When you bowled a bouncer to a batsman and they pulled it in front of square for four rather than jumping out the way, you knew it was time to give up.We were playing a one-dayer at Lords, and on the big screen up came a list of the top ten one-day bowlers in the world. I was No. 2 and Goughie was No. 7. He was at mid-on and he said, How are you in front of me? Youre no better than me. And I said, Well, Goughie, obviously I am. Next ball, I said to him, Joking aside, theres you at No. 7 in the world and me at No. 2, and that doesnt guarantee well get picked next game.I may have been technically rubbish with the bat, but I wasnt scared of the ball.Curtly Ambrose once said that he doesnt try to get the batsmen out. The batsmen need to score, so they get themselves out, so his job was to keep it tight. Thats about right for me too. Especially with the right-handers - youd just put it across them and theyd nick it. So that was my theory in one-day cricket. With a few slower balls and yorkers.I was a team player, wanted to win games first. Performances and records came second. In Test cricket I prided myself on dragging it back. Goughie would come on, Dominic Cork would come on, or Chris Lewis. And if you look at the record, theyd be going for five or six runs an over in a Test match. They were very selfish and wanted their own glory. When people say fast bowlers should hunt in pairs, or bowl in partnerships, they never did that, they were too selfish. So whenever I came on, I felt I had to go into one-day mode and try and tidy things up, rather than have three slips, a gully and short leg. Do what I did for Leicestershire.I signed for Hampshire on the back of a receipt in a pub, after dinner with Rod Bransgrove. There were so many things that were wrong with the England team when I played. They expected instant results. So theyd pick a team and if they didnt win the match or the series with flying colours, theyd change the side. I dont recall whether I played a Test or one-day match with the same XI twice. Graeme Hick was dropped and recalled something like 11 or 12 times in his Test career. You just cant do that. One of the best batsmen Id ever seen bat, or bowled against, and he was treated shockingly.Andy Roberts once said, Every days fishing day but you dont always catch fish.[Glenn] McGrath was getting stuck into me with his mouth once. And I said, Im not interested in your gobshite. If you want to have a full go, Ill meet you round the back after the game. He got fined three and a half grand and he bought me a beer afterwards, and he goes, Al, that beer just cost me three and a half grand. And we laughed about it. If you bowl three maidens in a row, youll create wicket-taking chances. In the Melbourne Test, 1998-99, Justin Langer said to me it was one of the best spells of bowling hed seen me bowl. We won the game, against one of the best sides theres ever been, and for the Sydney Test, Alec Stewart, the captain, comes over with Gooch, the manager, and says, Youre not playing in this Test match, were picking Alex Tudor for the extra pace. I was bowling 88mph in the Melbourne Test. He came in at Sydney and bowled 80mph. Go figure. It wasnt hard to give up playing. A lot of people retire bitter, think that they can do it forever. You cant. I always realised that. There was nothing particularly hard to give up.I faced Ian Botham in my first Shield game, and before that I thought he was the quickest bowler going. He turned out to be just medium-fast. Not like the guys I faced a few years later - Patrick Patterson, Wasim Akram, Malcolm Marshall and the rest.Whenever Alec Stewart didnt get any runs, hed pull out his gloves and start practising his keeping next to Jack Russell. In my last Test, Brett Lee was bowling seriously quick and Warney from slip said, At least youve got the guts to get behind it. The rest of them have been shitting themselves.I had an eye test and my vision came back 20-20 perfect. I couldnt understand it. I told the doctor, It cant be perfect. Have you seen me bat? I cant see the ball. And the doctor said, Have you ever thought that youre just rubbish at batting?David Lloyd, when he was England coach, said that hed buy me 30 pints of Guinness if I could score 30 against Pakistan. I got to 24, gave the dressing room the signal to get them in, and then Wasim Akram bowled me with a slower ball. Walking off, I told him that he was an idiot because he could have shared the Guinness with me. Wasim said that if Id told him about Bumbles promise, he would have bowled half-volleys to get me to 30.If you look back in 20 years time and can say that you played cricket with Shane Warne, thats something to be proud of. It would have been the same had Don Bradman played county cricket.Follow Alan Mullally on Facebook and @alanspidermulla Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '
There are two ways to look at the St. Nike Roshe Two . Louis Cardinals offseason. The optimists will say that general manager John Mozeliak aggressively filled his two biggest needs, signing outfielder Dexter Fowler and reliever Brett Cecil to big contracts. And in doing so, he managed to hold onto the top prospects in his farm system, ensuring a bright future. The pessimists will say that he overpaid for both of them, and that could back the Cardinals into a corner when they need the financial flexibility to make other moves next season.Reality is probably somewhere in the middle, but one thing is certain: Mozeliak has boldly acquired two premium free agents that better position St. Louis to deal with the World Series champion Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. Our group worked tirelessly over the past few weeks, especially this past week at the winter meetings, Mozeliak said. There were a lot of things that we were chasing. In truth, the dealing began when the Cardinals fortified their bullpen by signing Cecil to a $30.5 million, four-year contract. The left-hander was the only relief pitcher that really fit their wish list, and should be able to deal with high-leverage situations ahead of closer Seung Hwan Oh. Cecil, who was slowed by a torn lat muscle last season, dominated down the stretch. He threw 3 2/3 innings of scoreless ball in the playoffs, confirming everything the Cardinals thought of him. They always have good teams -- good, winning teams, Cecil said of the Cardinals, and like I said, for my family and me, this is where we wanted to come. It was the best fit for us.It turned out that plugging up the bullpen was the easy move. Mozeliak knew that solving his outfield quandary would be more expensive, either in terms of prospects or cash on the free-agent market.Perhaps recognizing that, he sent veteran left-hander Jaime Garcia to the Atlanta Braves. The trade not only saved them the $12 million option the Cardinals exercised on Garcia earlier in the offseason, but it also landed them a pair of pitching prospects and second base prospect Luke Dykstra. There were several options available to fill the Cardinals outfield hole, not to mention address their desire to improve their defense, speed on the base paths and get younger across the board. But their interest in Adam Eaton became moot when the Nationals swooped in with a better package of prospects, luring the 28-year-old outfielder from the White Sox to Washington. And if there was any interest in Ian Desmond, who converted from shortstop to the outfield for Texas last season, it didnt matter after the Rockies doled out $70 million over five years to grab him in free agency. Not surprisingly, the Cardinals turned their focus to Fowler -- assuming it was anywhere else all along -- and reeled him in last week. But it came at a steep price : $82.5 million over five years.Hes expected to take over center field, allowing Randal Richuk to slide to left.A lot has been written -- I dont know if you were questioning what we were trying to do or werent sure we were going to be able to finish, Mozeliak said. We certainly wanted to get this done, were excited we got this done.Fowler gives the Cardinals a top-of-the-order hitter. He gives them speed. He upgrades their defense and gives them more flexibility. And he provides some excitement in the clubhouse. This is a baseball city, said Fowler, who recalled seeing Cardinals shirts in the crowd during the Cubs World Series victory parade. Every time you come here, you see red everywhere. Just being a part of that and their winning culture was a big part of my decision. The moves Mozeliak has made this offseason, he hopes, ensures that the winning culture continues. But he also insisted that he isnt done, even if the big pieces appear to be in place.I think for us its going to be looking more at complementary pieces to what we have, he said. There is no doubt we still have work to do, but making a bolder-type move, I dont envision that. Nike Roshe One Hyperfuse . As the crowd erupted, Davis knocked the ball off the glass and back into his hands. With 1:14 to go in overtime, Davis sixth block also became his 17th rebound. That, along with his 32 points -- which tied a career high -- proved too much for Denver to overcome, and the Pelicans held on for their third straight victory, 111-107 on Sunday night. It only seems natural that head coach Hue Jackson would be on the hot seat in Cleveland. The Browns are off to their worst start in 70 years having lost 10 straight to begin the season and are staring down the barrel at a perfect season -- perfect as in 0-16.When things go wrong along the lakefront -- as they have so often -- Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has been quick to bring down the guillotine. Since purchasing the team in 2012, Haslam has fired three head coaches. The Steelers, on the other hand, have had three coaches since 1969 -- Chuck Noll (1969-1991), Bill Cowher (1992-2006) and Mike Tomlin (2007 to present). In Pittsburgh, theyre not used to adversity and now that the Steelers have lost four in a row, it seems like everyone is clamoring for Tomlins head.Never mind that the Steelers, who travel to the Dawg Pound for a 1 p.m. Sunday affair, have a good chance to be tied atop the AFC North after this weeks action.Such is life in the what-have-you-done-for-me-lately NFL where the heat is on Tomlin of the 4-5 Steelers but not so much on Jackson of the 0-10 Browns. With the Steelers in danger of suffering their first losing season in Tomlins 10-year career at Pittsburgh, he has ignored the outside clutter and is focused on getting his team ready and forgetting about the nightmare that was the Cowboys. Were just not playing well enough, Tomlin said after losing 35-30 in the final seconds to Dallas on Sunday. Were not in the right place enough. Were not looking at the right things enough. The tape says were not disciplined enough. The tape says there arent enough people doing the right things on a consistent basis to produce a victory, he added.Pittsburgh now has lost three straight on the road and plays four of its next five away from Heinz Field. The offense has been inconsistent on the road -- they have scored a total of 32 points in those three losses -- and the defense has been atrocious. And now the Steelers must find a replacement for their best defender, Cam Heyward, who tore a pectoral muscle against Dallas and is out for the season.Heyward had plenty to say about the Steelers inability to prevent the big play after the defense allowed three scoring plays of 30 yards or longer against Dallas. When you do that youre not going to have a lot of success in this league, he said I take this one on the chin personally because I feel like our offense did enough. As the leader of the defense it falls on me and goes down from there. Its just unacceptable.Big plays and the mounting losses are taking a toll on a number of defenders including linebacker Ryan Shazier. We just have to have better detail. ... Were giving up too many big plays. Were not stopping the run. Thats a recipe for disaster, Shazier said. Well look at the film, criticize each other and make sure we get each other back on point. Losing sucks. If theres one team that knows about losing its the Browns. Theyve lost 13 straight dating to the end of last season, and despite some reports of a rift between Jackson and the ffront office, there appears to be a long-term plan in place that has the backing of the players and management. Nike Roshe One Print. The fans just want a win.The Browns have the youngest team in the league and have stockpiled draft picks in the next few years. They might be on their way to a historically bad season, but they havent thrown in the towel.Everyone hates losing, but if you get discouraged, your play is going to drop, and if your play drops, you lose your job, guard John Greco said. Hopefully, the veteran leadership and the guys that have been on winning programs will show the young guys this is a long season, but we want them to get their first win so we can turn this positive culture we talk about into a winning culture. One of the few bright spots for Cleveland this year has been the emergence of wide receiver Terrelle Pryor Sr., who has compiled 51 receptions for 627 yards and four touchdowns.Whoever is at quarterback for the Browns -- rookie starter Cody Kessler or veteran Josh McCown -- they might want to take advantage of Pryors speed and height against rookie corner Artie Burns.Another glimmering hope for the Dawg Pound has been the play of linebacker Christian Kirksey, who leads the NFL with 94 tackles. The Browns on Wednesday also received a bit of good news when quarterback Robert Griffin III was cleared for non-contact activities. The fifth-year QB broke a bone in his shoulder the first week of the season and is expected to begin practicign again next week.We are not here to have the record we have, Jackson said. Were all disappointed and probably to a person a little embarrassed by it.Jackson can take solace in receiving the support of executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown earlier this week. The days of winning are coming. Im confident of that. We just have to stick with the plan and support our fans through the process, he said.Only one thing will take the heat off Tomlin and thats a victory. With the Ravens playing the Cowboys this weekend, the Steelers have a golden opportunity to forge a tie atop the AFC North, and the Browns are just what the doctor ordered.Cleveland has one of the leagues worst defenses, giving up 419 yards and 30.1 points per game. Expect quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Antonio Brown to take advantage of a weak Cleveland secondary that has struggled against other top passing offenses. And while Pittsburgh has had its problems getting the running game in gear, there should be plenty of opportunity for running back LeVeon Bell to find some success against the Browns, who are 31st against the rush, allowing 144 yards per game.Sundays game is the 127th time the teams have met in the regular season and the Steelers lead the series, 68-58, and since 2004 the Steelers have dominated sweeping the Browns nine times. INDYCAR kicked off the week in which its 2016 champion will be crowned by revealing important changes to its future car specifications. Cheap Titans Jerseys Authentic .The series announced Wednesday that development on body parts produced by Chevrolet and Honda for the central Dallara chassis (front and rear wings, sidepods, engine cover) will be frozen for 2017. In 2018, INDYCAR will roll out a single standardized set of body parts for Chevrolet- and Honda-powered cars, and it hopes to attract a third engine manufacturer to the series.Todays announcement follows an extended dialogue with Chevrolet, Honda, our teams and stakeholders, said INDYCAR president of competition and operations Jay Frye. This decision focused on what is best for the future of the Verizon IndyCar Series and is an integral component to INDYCARs long-term plan to continue to produce the highest quality of on-track competition while also positioning ourselves to add additional engine manufacturers.Aero kits have been a hot-button topic in the IndyCar Series since their introduction at the start of the 2015 season. Despite attempts to create parity between Chevrolet and Honda, Chevrolet has dominated the past two years, winning 23 of 31 races. However, Hondas package has been more competitive on superspeedways, with Alexander Rossi winning this years Indianapolis 500 and Honda teams faring strongly on other ovals. The kits were implemented at the request of the engine manufacturers to create visual differences between the Honda and Chevy cars. In that regard, the project was somewhat successful. But teams balked at the high cost of equipping their fleet of chassis with the array of different components required for the IndyCar Series mix of short ovals, speedways, and road and street courses.INDYCAR attempted to adjust the performance difference between the two manufacturers by allowing Honda to make additional changes to its 2016 kit outside of what was mandated by the rulebook. But Chevrolet still dominated, with its drivers holding the top six places in the championship standings heading into this weekends season finale at Sonoma Raceway. With aerodynamic development halted for 2017, Honda is expected to use its budget surplus to try to lure at least one Chevrolet team into its camp, with perennial championship contender Chip Ganassi Racing top on its list. The Ganassi team won 10 CART and IndyCar-sanctioned championships as a Honda partner between 1996 and 2013, but it switched to Chevrolet in 2014.Honda still may be struggling in 2016, but some of its issues the past two years can be pinned on having a generally weaker lineup of drivers and teams than Chevrolet. A move by Ganassi from Chevrolet to Honda could go a long way toward improving the competitive balance between manufacturers.Insiders say the changes to the appearance of the 2018 car will be radical and could include relocating the turbo air intake from behind the roll hoop and shedding the controversial bumpers that shroud the rear wheels. The 2018 car also is expected to have a redesigned floor in an effort to shift downforce production away from the front and rear wings. Some form of increased cockpit protection also likely will be part of the 2018 package. The 2018 car is a tremendous opportunity for INDYCAR, and the design collaboration is already underway, Frye said. The goal of the universal car is to be great looking, less aero dependent, have more potential for mechanical grip/downforce and to incorporate all the latest safety enhancements. Vincent Janssen gave Spurs the lead from the penalty spot late in the first half, but Ahmed Musa levelled after the break with Leicesters only shot on target.Spurs have now drawn three successive games in the Premier League and have not won in five matches in all competitions. We were very disappointed with the way we conceded the goal, Spurs boss Pochettino told Sky Sports. SALT LAKE CITY -- Slowing down Golden States offense is a bit like trying to move a mountain with bare hands. Deyshawn Bond Jersey . The Warriors are scorching one defense after another with their ability to relentlessly score from anywhere on the floor.Golden State (19-3) is averaging 130.5 points per game in the month of December. The Warriors have won their last two games by an average of 27.3 points, with the latest result being a 115-98 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.Their big three of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson have been virtually unstoppable over the past four contests. Thompson is averaging 31.3 points on 48.9 percent shooting. Curry is scoring 22.8 points per game on 47.6 percent shooting and dishing out 6.0 assists. Durant is chipping in 23.8 points on 47.0 percent shooting and collecting 8.3 rebounds. This sort of offensive efficiency is no fluke. Golden State leads the NBA in field-goal percentage (.502) and is the only team in the league shooting above 50 percent. The Warriors are also league leaders in assists (32.0) and scoring (120.0).Its reached a point where Golden State almost demands perfection and a 115-point outing against the Clippers is a bit of a disappointment.Honestly, I dont think we played well offensively tonight, Draymond Green said after Thursdays game. We missed a lot of shots that we normally make. The flow wasnt really there. But the most important thing is we defended and didnt turn the ball over. And when you dont turn the ball over and you defend, you give yourself a chance to win every game.Dealing with such a potent offense will be challenging even for one the NBAs best defensive teams. The Utah Jazz are allowing just 95.5 points per game this season and have given up only 93.0 points per contest in 11 home contests.Containing Golden State at that level will be nearly impossible for Utah, which has just 11 available players for Thursday. George Hill (sprained toe), Rodney Hood (hamstring strain), Derrick Favors (knee contusion) and Alec Burks (ankle rehabilitation) will not play against the Warriors.Gordon Hayward is also banged up after injuring the same finger he fractured during the preseason in Tuesdays 112-105 win over Phoenix. Hayward left during the third quarter to get the finger examined and returned for the fourth quarter. His finger was bruised and swollen after the game but, fortunately for Utah, not broken. It was stinging, so I wanted to make sure everything was fine before I came back, Hayward said. Sometimes, you just have to let pain dissipate a little bit. We put some spray on it and re-wrapped it. Its not broken. We X-rayed it and its fine.A troubling trend has emerged for the Jazz over their last three games. In each game, Utah has surrendered a double-digit lead during the fourth quarter and held on in the final minutes for a victory.Fourth-quarter sluggishness was really pronounced against the Suns. The Jazz scored just nine points over the first 10 minutes of the quarter and relaxed on defense, allowing Phoenix to rally from a 19-point deficit and tie the game at 103-103 with 3:07 remaining.I dont think were playing our best defense at all, Utah coach Quin Snyder said. The ball has gotten in the paint too much. Weve been playing teams that are just driving the ball. In some respects, when Rudy is protecting the rim, thats good. But if you look at the lineups weve had, we havent had a lot of quickness on the floor. Guys got to be more disciplined.Golden State has dominated the series with Utah in recent seasons. The Warriors have won five straight and 11 of the last 12 against the Jazz. Utahs lone win in that stretch was a 110-100 home victory on Jan. 30, 2015. ATLANTA -- Matt Kemp says his trade to the Atlanta Braves gives him a fresh start with the team he cheered for as a child. Radim Vrbata Jersey .In a letter on The Players Tribune website , Kemp wrote that he was a huge Atlanta Braves fan while growing up in Oklahoma because he followed the team on TV.Our little old TV picked up TBS, which meant I got to watch my Braves, so I was happy, Kemp wrote in the letter entitled Hello Atlanta. That was my team! I used to rush home from school to finish my homework so I could turn on the TV and watch Chipper Jones, Ron Gant, David Justice, Fred McGriff, Greg Maddux and Jon Smoltz play their hearts out for the Braves. As a young boy, I dreamed of one day suiting up and playing in front of the home crowd in Atlanta. Now, all these years later, Im going to be able to live out that dream.Kemp included a family photo of himself as a boy wearing a new Braves jacket while standing in front of a Christmas tree. The Braves acquired Kemp, a two-time All-Star outfielder, and $10.5 million from San Diego for troubled outfielder Hector Olivera on Saturday night.Kemp wrote that after reflecting on his career with the Dodgers and Padres, I would be lying if I didnt admit that I had begun to lose some of my love for the game.In so many ways, I got sidetracked from what I loved most about playing the game of baseball -- having fun, he wrote. I let a big contract, the Hollywood lifestyle, injuries and bad relationships tarnish the reputation I had worked so hard to establish. Sadly, I gained a reputation for being selfish, lazy and a bad teammate. While I may not agree with all the criticism I received in the past few years -- and while I believe that a lot of it was unmerited -- I take full responsibility for my shortcomings. And I promise you, Atlanta: Those days are gone.Kemp is expected to make his Braves debut in Tuesday nights home game against Pittsburgh. The Braves were off on Monday. He promised Braves fans he will be the Matt Kemp of old -- the kid who was the first at the park and the last to leave, the kid who would take cuts in the cage till has hands bled, the kid who would literally run through a wall for his teammates, the kid who was playing to win . not for a contract -- thats the kid whos on his way to Atlanta.Added Kemp: And the Braves of old will soon be the Braves of now. Two sides of the Adelaide Football Club show themselves in the aftermath of a 62-point elimination final thrashing of North Melbourne on Saturday night.First there is respect: in the form of a guard of honour for the quartet of retiring Kangaroos, led dolefully off Adelaide Oval by the AFLs games record holder Brent Harvey.Later, there is ambition: the team song sung in recognition of a finals victory to advance the Crows to the same staging post they reached in 2015 is a rather flat rendition, reeking of the sense that more remains to be done. A bad game against West Coast in the last minor round tipped Adelaide out of the top four, but it did not dent the belief that this team is capable of much more.Weve touched on that already as a group, said Tom Lynch, a key man in the Crows formidable forward line and kicker of four goals on Saturday night. We want big things this year and this is just the first box weve been able to tick but weve got three more games hopefully to win. That [Eagles] game was really disappointing, it was really not our way. Sometimes after those games you just want to get out there straight away. It was great to have a six-day break but we just had the bye and it probably made us think about it a bit more, but to the boys credit we were able to put that behind us and focus on this week and put on a pretty good performance. We had some proud guys who were disappointed the way they played individually, but as a collective as well. We were able to rectify that, weve been able to bounce back from most of our losses this year and have good wins. Hopefully we can get on a bit of a roll now and have an impact. The Crows were heavily favoured to beat North Melbourne with good reason - the Kangaroos had limped into the finals, and the Adelaide deficiencies exposed by West Coast were unlikely to be tested by a team with so few recent wins behind them. But they took their time to find fluency: big advantages in possession and forward entries were offset by indifferent kicking for goal, and enough turnovers to mean the game was overmuch in the balance at halftime.Finals footy is always about contests and pressure, said Lynch, and thats what we base our game on and turning the ball over. At times we wished wed kicked a little straighter but most of those shots were long shots, so it wasnt like we were inaccurate and missing easy goals.Well have to look at that and address how we can get some deep entries. When we needed to put the foot down we were able to tonight, but theyre a quality side and to their credit they were able too keep working hard in the contest. Cheap Panthers Jerseys. When the arm wrestle was in play we were just able to hold them at bay a bit more than they were for us.Over time, Adelaide found their range. Forward entries did get deeper, shots on goal were more precise, and the Adelaide Oval faithful found their most raucous voice to send their team hurtling towards Sydney with plenty of momentum.Lynch and the rest of the forward line ended the night looking threatening once more, not the thwarted combination restricted to 10.11 by the Eagles. A final tally of 21.15 was near enough to twice as good. This was as much down to team play as individual heroics, though Eddie Betts six goals were as memorable as ever.Thats a strength of our whole forward line, guys are really trying to bring others into the game and a really unselfish group, Lynch said. To play in that front six or anywhere on the ground thats the mindset youve to have otherwise you just dont fit in.Tex [Taylor Walker] and Eddie had great nights, Josh Jenkins competed really hard as did Mitch McGovern and Charlie Cameron was electric - those guys all played their role and made sure when it was their moment to step up they were able to do so.How much this was to do with the pre-finals bye is a question still swirling. Certainly Kyle Cheney and Luke Brown were better for the week off. But in the considered opinion of the coach Don Pyke the break had offered another important edge for his men - the chance to train with both quality and quantity, at a time of the year when injury management and recovery schedules can impact skills and team patterns. We had opportunities to have four really good sessions with our guys, Pyke said. Off the two six-day breaks we had, they dont allow you the opportunity to train too much. The last two weeks weve had some really good training. Its like a cricketer going out to bat, he wants to be in the nets and hitting balls so hes confident he can do it. Our guys like to be able to train so we can train the things we need to work on and take confidence from that in the games. The two weeks gave us an opportunity to do that. The cricket metaphor was apt for a club now overmuch at home on Adelaide Oval. To go any further in this finals series the Crows will need to play straight and punish the loose balls at the SCG, against a chastened Sydney Swans. That match will provide another chance to measure the club in terms of respect and ambition. DETROIT -- Lions tight end Eric Ebron was carted off the field during the franchises mock game Saturday with what may be a right Achilles injury, according to the NFL Network. Branden Oliver Jersey .Ebron fell to the ground around the right hashmark and was clearly in pain as team doctors checked his right knee and ankle. He was down for several minutes before a cart came out to take him off the field and back toward the locker room.Early indications are that the injury may not be as serious as initially feared, according to reports from ESPNs Adam Caplan and The NFL Network.Lions coach Jim Caldwell had no comment on Ebrons injury after practice concluded. When asked about Ebrons injury, general manager Bob Quinn said, Injuries happen in football, but he didnt elaborate further.Quarterback Matthew Stafford said he has no idea what is wrong with Ebron. When asked what it would do to Detroits offense if he were significantly hurt, Stafford said Im not going to talk about hypotheticals.Ebron had been having a good training camp, looking much more comfortable catching the ball, and he was in the midst of a good day during the Lions mock game Saturday, including catching a 30-yard pass from Stafford down the seam.If Ebron were to miss any time, it would be devastating to a Detroit Lions tight end group already without Brandon Pettigrew, who remains on PUP recovering from a torn ACL. The Lions have veteran Matthew Mulligan and undrafted rookie Cole Wick as the next two tight ends.Orson Charles, who was signed earlier this summer, is a veteran who could see more time if Ebron were to be significantly injured. You never want to see somebody in your room go down, period, anybody in the organization, Charles said. Im definitely going to keep him in my prayers and go up there and check up on him. As a group, we all have to step up and try to fill that void.Ebron had said earlier this camp he felt this was a make it or break it year for him with the Lions. It is, however, UNCs first opportunity to announce its standing as a national championship contender. The Tar Heels dont have Marcus Paige anymore, but theyre still beasts on the offensive glass and a problem for any opponent approaching the rim.Louisville Cardinals The Cardinals entered the season in the shadows, a byproduct of a season interrupted by scandal and completed without a postseason appearance. So perhaps the college basketball world forgot about the talent pool Rick Pitino amassed this year. A rally in this weeks Battle 4 Atlantis -- with potential matchups against Wichita State and Baylor or Michigan State -- and Louisville and Jaylen Johnson (15.3 PPG, 11.3 RPG, 1.3 BPG) could remind the public of Louisvilles position as a threat in the ACC and beyond. Per Synergy Sports, Louisvilles opponents have scored a measly .56 points per possession in their half-court sets.Virginia Cavaliers Against the same Yale team that put up 98 points in a win over Washington and 89 points in a victory over Lehigh, Virginia surrendered just seven points in the final 10:22 of the first half of its 62-38 win over the Bulldogs on Sunday. Yale scored just 17 points in the first half of that game. Either Lehigh and Washington just stood on the sideline as Yale collected points by the boatful or the Cavaliers, again, possess the venomous brand of defense that carried the program to the top of the ACC in recent years. Well go with the latter. Virginia freshman Mamadi Diakite is blocking a ridiculous 23.4 percent of his opponents shots inside the arc. That helps. Another round of suffocating performances against Iowa and Providence/Memphis in the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Florida, this week could help the Cavs challenge any presumptive ideas about Dukes ACC title hopes.Northwestern Wildcats Slow down, Northwestern fans. Mondays 77-58 win over a young Texas squad impressed many but the victory wont guarantee anything on Selection Sunday. It is, however, a great step toward that aim. The Wildcats need signature wins to earn their first-ever trip to the NCAA tournament. Mondays victory and a possible win over Notre Dame in the Legends Classic title game on Tuesday could give the Wildcats momentum and a pair of quality wins that could boost their resume in March. This is the kind of start Northwestern needs as it attempts to make history in Chris Collins fourth season.Iowa State Cyclones After Iowa State scored 130 points on lowly Citadel, voters in this weeks Associated Press poll rewarded the Cyclones by dropping them a spot to No. 21. Savannah State, Mount St. Marys and Citadel are all ranked below No. 270 in KenPom.coms rankings. Thats the issue. At this weeks Advocare Invitational tournament in Orlando, Steve Prohms program will have an opportunity to prove its numbers thus far -- 62.6 percent connect rate inside the arc -- represent the marks of a valid Big 12 contender and not the inflated stats of a squad thats just bullied bottom-feeders in its first three games. Veterans overcome those early hurdles. A young team -- the bulk of UTs top contributors are underclassmen -- might carry the sting of this stretch into December and beyond. They could use a win.Oregon Ducks As ESPN.coms Eamonn Brennan observed, Oregons unexpected loss to Georgetown in the opening round of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational ended the chatter about Dillon Brooks hypothesized impact on the Ducks 17-point loss to Baylor last week. Brooks returned from a foot injury to go 3-for-8 (8 points), but his production couldnt neutralize his teams 4-for-17 clip from beyond the arc and 17 turnovers. Theyve missed their chance to challenge North Carolina in a strong finale. Wins over Tennessee and Connecticut would make the trek to the Honolulu feel like less of a wasted opportunity.Michigan State Spartans The clock issues produced the headlines from Michigan States 78-77 win over Florida Gulf Coast over the weekend. The bigger story? Dunk City grabbed 38 percent of its misses and Michigan State made just 58 percent of its free throw attempts. Tom Izzos Spartans have connected on just 55 percent of their tries from the charity stripe thus far. A run through the Battle 4 Atlantis would suggest Michigan States early challenges were just the temporary flaws of a team with a fresh nucleus. The tournaments strong lineup, however, could toss the Spartans outside the top 25.Texas A&M Aggies A two-point home loss to USC stung a team that lost last years fleet of talented upperclassmen, but thats not a bad home loss. Still, the Aggies could use some momentum as they try to recover. The DirecTV Wooden Legacy tournament contains a solid but surmountable field and a potential prize if both the Aggies and UCLA advance to the title game. Well, its not looking good so far. On Tuesday alone, Ole Miss (vs. Creighton), Tennessee (vs. Wisconsin), Vanderbilt (vs. Bucknell) and Alabama (vs. Valparaiso) all lost. Both Tennessee and Ole Miss overcame early deficits but couldnt finish down the stretch. In past seasons, the SECs great challenge was its failure to create more than a handful of quality win opportunities in conference play. He also coordinated defenses at Arkansas and Wisconsin.Meanwhile, much of the optimism around Washington centers on third-year coach Chris Petersen, who is only 15-12 in two seasons with the Huskies but had a long run of success at Boise State before that.He seems to have Washington on the cusp of big things, returning eight starters from a defense that ranked as the best in the Pac-12 last year, allowing only 351.8 yards a game. The offense should launch behind sophomore quarterback Jake Browning, who passed for 2,955 yards while starting 12 games as a true freshman, and sophomore running back Myles Gaskin, who rushed for 1,302 yards and 14 touchdowns as a true freshman.Browning threw 16 touchdown passes and was intercepted 10 times in an offense that usually moved at a deliberate pace. From this year at this time, to last year, there is a big difference, Petersen said about Browning. He knows everything were talking about with quite certainty. ... One thing were really trying to stress with him is lets still try and keep it simple. Its still one-two throw, or run for your life. Sometimes you can make this game too complicated.Rutgers, which went 4-8 last season and had off-field issues that led to the dismissal of coach Kyle Flood, will enter Husky Stadium as a big underdog. Were ready to go and just really excited to find out where were at as a program, Ash said. One of the first things Ash had to do was settle on a quarterback. Chris Laviano got the nod over three others. He completed 60.9 percent of his passes last season -- the highest Rutgers percentage since 2008 -- but he no longer has receiver Leonte Carroo as a target. Carroo was a third-round pick of the Miami Dolphins.Rutgers will be facing a defense that returns two first-team All-Pac-12 defensive backs.Junior safety Budda Baker has started 24 of 25 games in his career and is a potential All-American. Junior cornerback Sidney Jones led the conference last season with 14 pass break-ups. He intercepted four passes and forced three fumbles.Washington allowed only 11 touchdown passes, which was the lowest figure in the Pac-12.Throw in other talented players such as linebacker Azeem Victor, and 300-pound-plus defensive linemen Elijah Qualls and Greg Gaines, and you can see why Washington is a preseason top 15 team after going 7-6 last season.Washington begins the season with three homes games -- Idaho and FCS Portland State follow -- before conference play begins at Arizona on Sept. 24.A lot of uncertainty, Petersen said about an opener against a team with a new coaching staff.Youre watching tapes of where they came from, but then they are going to have their own ideas that are tailored to their personnel. So thats probably the biggest challenge. ... And I think the second thing is theyll have new energy. This is the first meeting between Rutgers and Washington. Jerome Bettis Jersey . LOS ANGELES -- From the morning when the first tailgaters arrived to the evening and a game-winning drive, the Rams gave Los Angeles fans that old NFL feeling back. There was no Deacon or Dickerson, and the old familiar blue and yellow were replaced with St. Louis gold, navy and white, but the horns on the helmets were the same, and so was the name: Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to welcome home to the LA Coliseum, YOUR Los Angeles Rams! the announcer shouted, bringing a roar the local crowd hasnt been able to let loose since 1994.Even an opening kickoff return for a touchdown by the Dallas Cowboys Lucky Whitehead in Saturdays preseason opener for both teams couldnt kill the mood, and many late-arriving LA fans missed that anyway. The Rams first touchdown in their new-old town, a 14-yard run by Benny Cunningham, brought another huge roar from the crowd of 89,140, as though it finally made the move official. It was a great feeling, Cunningham said. The game-winning drive, capped by a touchdown pass from Sean Mannion to Aaron Green, gave the Rams a 28-24 victory and the crowd an even bigger charge.Celebrating a new era of NFL football in Los Angeles, we deserve it! yelled Rachel Barbosa, 40, tailgating outside the Coliseum, where the unmistakable smell of sausages and beer marking an NFL game day hung in the air.Her tailgate-party partner Rose Gonzalez turned 41 on Saturday and the old-school Rams fan couldnt believe she was getting such a sweet gift.Wouldnt want to spend my birthday any other way, Gonzalez said.Rams jerseys from all eras of the team filled the streets and parks around the Coliseum, the Rams traditional home, though the gates and snack stands still bear the red and gold of the permanent tenant, USC. The Rams will play here while their permanent home is built in nearby Inglewoodd. Steelers Jerseys Outlet. LA fans also had to face the other side of the NFL experience, which they hadnt missed as much: Weekend traffic that felt like weekday rush hour, sky-high parking prices, and shouting matches with hardcore Cowboy fans. And the citys new Expo Line light rail train that stops at the Coliseum was as packed and sweaty as a subway train bound for Yankee Stadium. But nearly everyone took it all in stride, and smiles abounded. There might have been no one happier than Douglas Aziz.I moved here from Toronto in 1994 because I was a Rams fan, said Aziz, who wore an old-school Deacon Jones No. 75 jersey with his long white hair. That was the year they left. He had a gleam in his eye and an ear-to-ear grin at the thought of finally seeing his own team in his hometown 22 year later. Its incredible, he said.Aziz came to the game with his two young-adult sons, Cameron and Colin. Cameron has been a longtime NFL fan, but is now a newly adopted Rams fan and holder of many season tickets.I got eight! he said, and he plans to hold on to them for decades to come. He sold the five he wasnt using for this game for a total of $800, he said. For a preseason game! he said in disbelief. For other fans it was a return to old traditions.Russel Nadel and his wife came to Rams games in the Coliseum in the 1970s, and to the teams games in Anaheim in the 80s and early 90s.Weve been going to San Diego for games, to see the Chargers, because it was the best we could do, he said. But they never became more than lukewarm Chargers fans.Today, they were overjoyed to give their full affection to a team again. Its a special day, he said.---AP NFL website: and Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

RIO DE JANEIRO -- When it was all over, when they had the title they had coveted for years, Serbias jubilant players hung the countrys flag over one of the floating cages in the pool. The soaked flag said it all. Serbia had finally conquered the Olympic mens water polo tournament.Dusan Mandic scored four times, Branislav Mitrovic made 12 saves and Serbia dethroned Croatia with an 11-7 victory at the Rio Games on Saturday. This is maybe the best feeling in my life, center Slobodan Nikic said. I feel like Im flying. It was Serbias first Olympic gold medal in perhaps its favorite sport. The former Yugoslavia won three gold medals and Serbia and Montenegro lost in the 2004 final in Athens, but Serbia finished third in each of the previous two Olympics. After winning the world and European championships, Serbias star-studded roster had to deal with the burden of expectations when it arrived in Brazil. Then the pressure intensified when the team opened with a pair of draws and a surprising loss to the host country. But Serbia eventually found its way and closed with five consecutive victories by a combined score of 53-38. No settling for bronze this time around. We want this from the whole beginning of our careers, said Filip Filipovic, who scored two goals in the final and was voted tournament MVP.We trained so hard and so much. We suffer so much for this gold medal. As we saw, the road to this Olympic gold was very tough and very stressful for us.There were hugs on Serbias side of the pool as the final seconds ticked off, and the players jumped right in when it was over.Coach Dejan Savic avoided the traditional swim with his team, even sneaking off the deck for a moment before returning to the bench to watch the celebration. He wagged his finger and blew kisses to his players as they beckoned him to join them in the water. This is it for us. Lets say its game over, a grinning Filipovic said.Sandro Sukno scored three times for Croatia, which won gold in London. Javier Garcia Gadea had two goals. Chad Williams Jersey. Serbia was the better team, Croatia coach Ivica Tucak said. We tried everything we had against them but they were just too physical and strong. The result shows that.Marko Bijac, who was voted the tournaments top goaltender and played a key role in Croatias run to the final, made five saves before he was replaced by Josip Pavic after Filipovic scored to make it 8-4 with 2:14 left in the third. They got easy fouls and they are such strong shooters, its very hard to stop, Bijac said.Italy beat Montenegro 12-10 for the bronze medal. Stefano Tempesti led the way with 10 saves, and Christian Presciutti scored four times. Its the second straight Olympic medal for Italy, which lost to Croatia in the London final. Italy also became the only country to medal in each water polo tournament in Brazil, with the women taking home silver on Friday. Its a great moment for (the) Italian water polo team, Tempesti said. The 37-year-old Tempesti had surgery on his right eye after he got hurt in the final match of the Italian championship in May. He finished with 51 saves in his fifth Olympics.Asked if the victory over Montenegro was his final game, he responded: I think so. Im quite sure, yeah.To be here with my eye, all the surgery, everything, day by day I had to learn how to come back in this Olympics, Tempesti said, and winning this medal, its the right reward, the best reward for what I have gone through in the last few months.Valentino Gallo added three goals for Italy, which lost to Serbia in the semifinals.Montenegro finished fourth for the third straight Olympics. We must make some changes, put some new players (on the team), but in this moment we dont have a lot of good young players, Montenegro coach Vladimir Gojkovic said. CINCINNATI -- No rest for weary Xavier. Carnell Lake Jersey .Less than 72 hours after a sloppy 84-81 victory over Lehigh in their regular season home opener, the 11th-ranked Musketeers must hop right back in the saddle. With senior guard Myles Davis suspended and forward Kaiser Gates recovering from knee surgery, XU isnt nearly as deep as its been in recent years. That showed up on Friday when Patriot League favorite Lehigh pushed them until the final buzzer. The Musketeers, who host Buffalo on Monday night at 7 p.m. at Cintas Center, began the season with only eight scholarship players. Its no secret right now, we dont have a ton of depth, said head coach Chris Mack.Xaviers options still are better than many teams in the country. On Friday, Trevon Bluiett scored a career-high 25 points with 11 rebounds and three assists. Edmond Sumner added a personal-best 24 points and Sean OMara tied a career-high with 10 points. But, Mack wasnt pleased with Bluietts defensive effort or Sumners ball handling, given he committed six of the teams 17 turnovers which helped spark Lehighs upset bid. Some of the mistakes we made were inexcusable down the stretch, Mack said. Its inexcusable. We have to correct those. We turn the page quickly and play Buffalo on Monday. Mack said hed wait until after Mondays game to respond when asked if its better to get back on the court barely two days after Fridays performance or if hed prefer to get some practice time in.The Musketeers are in a learning curve early in the season but still talented enough to be picked second in the Big East Conference behind defending national champion Villanova.Buffalo is dealing with its own depth issues heading into Mondays game which is the first meeting between the two teams. The Bulls defeated Niagara 76-66 on Friday night despite playing without top guard C.J. Massinburg whos out indefinitely with mononucleosis. Were a little thin in the backcourt without C.J., head coach Nate Oats told the Buffalo News.Monday marks the second game for senior wing Blake Hamilton who returned after being out six weeks with a broken bone in his left hand. He scored 11 points on Friday.Backup forward David Kadiri is day to day with a knee injury. As for Davis status with Xavier, it was unchanged as of Friday.Earlier this week, Davis, who averaged nearly 11 points and led the team in assists last season, pleaded guilty to one charge of disorderly conduct involving damage to his ex-girlfriends property. Mack said Davis would have to earn his way back on to the team. The Musketeers certainly could use him. At one point in Fridays game, Xavier had two freshman and four first-year players on the court at once. This isnt the same Xavier team which went 28-6 and earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. By March, its likely that talent will mesh, but for now XU is a work in progress. On Friday, Lehighs bench outscored Xaviers 23-7.Its not algebra, said Mack. You look down (the bench), there isnt a lot of options, theres maybe two or three. Cheap Hines Ward Jersey .
