Glamorgan 156 for 3 (Hildreth 39, Ingram 3-20) beat Somerset 152 (Hildreth 39, Ingram 3-20) by seven wicketsScorecard Glamorgan have qualified for the quarter-finals of the NatWest T20 Blast with a win over Somerset in Cardiff A career-best bowling spell and an innings of 54 from Colin Ingram allowed Glamorgan to make the knockout stages with two games still to play. Fake Jordan Shoes .Ingram has played as a white ball specialist this season as a result of an ongoing knee injury and he has made the most of his chances in the side, leading the run-scoring charts for Glamorgan in T20 and 50-over cricket. With victory enough to secure that prized quarter-final spot Glamorgan would have been pleased to win the toss and chase, their preferred method in Cardiff where they are convinced that the ball comes on to the bat better under the lights. An ugly looking pitch but one with decent pace and carry greeted the players but while the runs flowed for Somerset so the wickets fell. Midway, they were 90 for 5, a tendency begun by Mahela Jayawardene, who looked in supreme touch on his way to 16 from 10 balls, but who he fell when he mistimed a cover drive off the bowling of Timm van der Gugten. The most spectacular of those wickets to fall was that of Peter Trego who missed a rocket from Shaun Tait that knocked his stumps out of the ground. It that same over Tait induced an edge from James Hildreth with an outswinger that should have been caught by Mark Wallace but the Glamorgan keeper could not hang on to it.Hildreth made the most of his life, going on to top score for Somerset with 39 from 28 balls. If Glamorgan had taken that chance they could have been chasing around 120; instead they would need 153 to claim victory. The surprise package of the night was Ingrams bowling as he picked his best T20 figures of 3 for 20 with his occasional leg breaks. He bowled with real guile, with the ball that had Lewis Gregory out stumped particularly impressive. By adding bowling to his stellar batting form he has further cemented his place as Glamorgans star man in this competition. While van der Gugten impressed with his bowling, he was out done by his Dutch colleague Paul van Meerkeren who bowled with real pace and was unlucky not to claim more wickets. He did dismiss Mark Wallace who top edged a catch to long leg but there were a number of other chances that fell just short of a fielder. His figures of 1 for 45 did not accurately reflect how well he bowled.Glamorgan lost David Lloyd in the eighth over to bring together Ingram and Aneurin Donald who registered the fastest ever first-class double hundred against Derbyshire this week.Between them they turned what could have been a difficult chase into a stroll as they put together a stand of 76 from 53 balls. Ingram fell before the job was finished but he had done enough for Glamorgan to win by seven wickets with 12 balls to spare.Somerset captain Jim Allenby expressed his frustration at Somerset failing to perform on what he judged to be a very good Cardiff pitch. It is disappointing and frustrating, he said. In all the years I played at Glamorgan and that his the best pitch that I have seen. That was a fantastic cricket pitch, short boundaries, everything that you want as a batsman and we have been bowled at for 150 on it.So its really frustrated as a team and also individually on missing out on getting a big score out there. These things happened but it has happened all too often this season. Replica Shoes Online . 31, the CFL club announced Monday. Mark DeRosa hit a go-ahead homer into the second deck in left field leading off the 11th inning and the Blue Jays beat the Padres 7-4 Sunday night to avoid a three-game sweep. Six relievers allowed just two singles in nine innings of scoreless relief after Ortiz was hurt throwing his third pitch to Chase Headley leading off the Padres third. For the series, the pen allowed just one run and 10 hits in 22 2-3 innings while striking out 16 and walking eight. "They truly have been great all year for us and weve certainly needed them to be that way to keep our heads above water," DeRosa said. "You never like to use them that much, but tonight was an exception to the rule." It was the second extra-inning game of the series. The Padres won Friday nights game 4-3 in 17 innings. Ortiz came up holding his right elbow after making his third pitch to Headley. He slammed his glove to the ground at the back of the mound. A trainer came out and was looking at his right elbow. Ortiz appeared to be crying as he walked to the dugout. "What a kind of sombre game for us, and kind of watching him reflect on his career and hopefully he didnt throw his last pitch," DeRosa said. "Tough series. We had to win this game. Definitely made for a happier flight. Everyone contributed. Bullpen was asked to do a heck of a lot, not only in this game, but in the 17-inning game." Manager John Gibbons said Ortizs injury "doesnt look good." The pitcher is scheduled to travel to Florida to have an MRI. The Blue Jays have thrown the most innings of any bullpen in the majors. "Were proud of it, but then again, were only as good as our next one," reliever Steve Delabar said. "When the phone rings and we get up, we have to do it again." Casey Janssen (1-0) pitched the 10th for the win. Aaron Loup pitched the 11th for his second save. "We werent able to solve them," Padres manager Bud Black said of Torontos pen. "We had some good swings versus Ortiz, but when they went to their pen, we couldnt solve any of their guys. We couldnt muster any offence. I cant explain it except their bullpen did a great job this series." Ortiz was recalled before Saturdays game when Brandon Morrow was placed on the disabled list with a foreearm strain. Fake NFL Jerseys China. DeRosa drove a 3-1 pitch from Brad Boxberger (0-1) an estimated 428 feet, his fourth, in the 11th inning. It was the first of five straight hits opening the three-run inning. The Blue Jays second run that inning came in on third baseman Headleys throwing error and Jose Bautista hit an RBI double. An inning before he was hurt, Ortiz allowed a three-run homer to San Diego starter Edinson Volquez, his first in the big leagues. Volquezs homer capped a four-run inning that gave the Padres a 4-1 lead. Rookie Jedd Gyorko was aboard on an RBI double and Will Venable on an intentional walk. Torontos Edwin Encarnacion homered for the second time in three games, reaching the second deck in left field with two outs in the third. It was his 16th. The Blue Jays tied it in the fifth on Adam Linds two-run double off centre fielder Alexi Amaristas glove against the fence. Melky Cabrera was aboard on a single and Encarnacion on a two-out walk. He plays the game so naturally, so instinctively and so consistently. The 6-4, 230-pound redshirt junior linebacker misses tackles the way Eric Clapton misses notes on his guitar. It doesnt happen.Fittingly, Cunningham plays a little guitar himself, going back to his youth at Birminghams New Life Evangelistic Worship Center. He taught himself to play and has since taken a few guitar classes at Vanderbilt. He prefers what he calls jazz type stuff but can play a little bit of everything. As humble as he is talented, Cunningham doesnt hesitate when asked whether hes a better football player or guitar player.Football, for sure, he says. Its doubtful anybody whos tried to block him this season would disagree, regardless of whether theyve heard him play the guitar. Thats because Cunningham has been unblockable. He wrecked just about everything Georgia attempted to do last week with a career-high 19 tackles in Vanderbilts 17-16 win over the Bulldogs, the Commodores first win at Sanford Stadium in a decade. His fourth-down stop of Isaiah McKenzie for no gain to preserve the win is the kind of play Cunningham has been making since he was a gangly 175-pound linebacker at Pinson Valley High School just outside of Birmingham, Alabama.Ive been seeing him do that forever, said Pinson Valley coach Matt Glover. I once saw him take the quarterback, then the fullback with one arm and still get out to the pitch man to make the play. The funny thing is that when he first came to me, he was a running back and we had to talk him into playing linebacker. He didnt like it at first, but looks like he made the right decision. There might be bigger names on the defensive side in college football, and there might be flashier players who get more headlines. But good luck in finding a more complete (or productive) defender than Cunningham, who ranks fourth nationally with 81 total tackles and second nationally with 13 tackles for loss. Against SEC competition, hes been even better with 55 total tackles and nine tackles for loss in four league games.Go back and watch that last play against Georgia, and you dont even see Zach in the picture, Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason marveled. All of a sudden, you see a blur and a snatch. You look up and youre like, Where did he come from? You dont coach that.Hes the best linebacker nobodys talking about. In truth, theyre talking about him, just not as much as they probably should be. One NFL scout told Cunningham had shown the versatility to play in a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme at the next level and was moving up draft boards weekly because of his ability to make plays sideline to sideline. The pro scouts also love Cunninghams length, and even though hes already put on 50 pounds since his high school days, he has the frame to put on 10 or 20 more.Cunningham redshirted his first year at Vanderbilt in 2013, but it didnt take him long to make an impression on Mason. During their first season together in 2014, Vanderbilt was playing Georgia, and Cunningham on three occasions tackled Todd Gurley in one-on-one situations. It was Zach and Gurley one-on-one. It wasnt Zach and somebody else and Gurley, just Zach, and he made the play all three times, Mason recalled. Guys in the NFL dont tackle Gurley in that situation, and it made me realize how special this young man can be. He sees things before they happen and has so many dimensions to him as a player, but what separates him is his ability to close and finish.Cunningham, whos majoring in economics, credits Mason and his inside linebackers ccoach, Chris Marve, for helping him to become a better tactician and better student of the game. Wholesale NMD. I watch film differently than I used to and have a lot more knowledge of the game and what offenses are trying to do, said Cunningham, who was a first-team All-SEC performer last season. Theyve helped bring more knowledge to me, and thats helped me play even faster and pick up quicker on what teams are trying to do.Marve, who was also an All-SEC linebacker at Vanderbilt, said its always easier to coach someone whos as passionate about the game as Cunningham.Hes in love with the game of football, and you see that every day in the way he prepares, Marve said. Hes always putting in extra time, but he also does a lot of things naturally that you dont see in a lot of players. You hear guys say they want to be great. Zach practices that way and approaches every game that way.Vanderbilt has had a ton of success with players from the state of Alabama. Earl Bennett, Zac Stacy, Jordan Matthews and Reshard Langford all come to mind. Cunningham also managed to get out of the state and signed as part of James Franklins last class at Vanderbilt before Franklin left for Penn State.Glover said hes never seen a player blow up in recruiting circles the way Cunningham did his senior year. He was still 17 when he graduated high school, and it wasnt until the eighth game of his senior season that he received his first SEC offer. The offers came flooding in after that, and Cunningham had Miami, Oregon, South Carolina and Tennessee all hot on his trail, along with Vanderbilt.Alabama and Nick Saban were interested, but the Crimson Tide wanted Cunningham to grayshirt -- waiting a semester to enroll -- and take that time to bulk up and get stronger. Auburn offered initially, but in the transition from Gene Chizik to Gus Malzahn, Glover said the Tigers informed him late that they were pulling the scholarship offer because they only had one left at linebacker and were saving it for Reuben Foster. The frenzy in the final hour didnt faze Cunningham, who wasnt a big name entering his senior season because he didnt spend the summer going to all of the camps and combines. Besides, he and his family had already set their sights on Vanderbilt and the world-class education the Commodores could offer.I just felt like I would develop more fully as a player and a person at Vanderbilt, Cunningham said. I fell in love with everything about Vanderbilt. It was more than just football. He concedes that being an economics major at Vanderbilt keeps him up late at nights studying but added, I kind of knew what I was getting myself into. Id talked to some guys who had majored in economics here before me and knew what was coming my way, but I wanted the challenge. What he doesnt want is engaging in any debate about where he ranks in the SEC or nationally with other linebackers. Hell leave that for everybody else.I dont really focus on stuff like that, Cunningham said. Im more focused on going out there and doing my best to help my team win. But, then, thats vintage Cunningham, the same guy who as a senior in high school got up to speak at the Mr. Football awards banquet in Montgomery, Alabama, and one of the first people he thanked was his home economics teacher for letting him borrow an iron to iron his shirt.Ive coached a lot of good ones, Mason said, but Zach is one of those guys who makes a lot of things right. And thats whether hes blowing up a play on fourth down or blowing it out on his guitar. LANDOVER, Md. Jose Martinez Jersey . -- Cashing in with four red zone touchdowns and taking the ball away at crucial moments allowed the Washington Redskins to win a game they couldve easily lost to the Cleveland Browns.Kirk Cousins threw three touchdown passes, including two to tight end Jordan Reed, and the Redskins forced three second-half turnovers to complete a 31-20 victory Sunday that kept the Browns winless on the season. Its just what we needed to do, said Cousins, who was 21 of 27 for 183 yards and also had an interception. The defense did a great job at getting us momentum with those turnovers. We ran the ball well. ... I think being able to run the ball effectively certainly got us going.Washington (2-2) scored more touchdowns in the red zone against Cleveland (0-4) than it did in the first three games of the season, when it was 3 for 14 . Cousins connected with Reed for 8- and 9-yard touchdowns, Chris Thompson for a 5-yard score, and running back Matt Jones scored from 1 yard out as part of his 117-yard performance. We just found a way to execute, found some mismatches, Thompson said. The run game is key. Matt had a great day today and it was able to help out our pass game, help Kirk out.The Redskins blew a 14-0 lead and fell behind 20-17 before shutting down Clevelands running game and taking the ball back. Linebacker Will Compton forced a fumble by fullback Malcolm Johnson -- on the first carry of his career -- late in the third, Ziggy Hood knocked the ball out of Duke Johnsons hands early in the fourth and Josh Norman picked off Cody Kessler to set up Jones touchdown.Weve got to get stuff corrected, Compton said. But we won the game. We made big plays when we needed to make big plays.Browns running back Isaiah Crowell ran for 112 yards and a touchdown, and Kessler was 27 of 38 for 215 yards, one touchdown and one interception.NEED FOR REED: With his 8-yard touchdown in the first quarter, Reed became the fastest tight end in NFL history to 200 career receptions. Reed hit the 200 mark in his 38th game, one faster than Pro Football Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow Sr., and had his fifth multi-touchdown game.Reed made nine catches for 73 yards.WHO RECOVERED?: Shortly after Duke Johnsons fumble, he stood up and raised the ball, but the Redskins were given possession. The Browns werent exactly sure the call was the right one.Within half a second, Duke stood up and held it up in his hand. I think the ref was still trying to find out where the ball was, Kessler said. And Duke was yelling, `Hey, I got it right here! Its right here! And unfortunately the call didnt go our way.For his part, the running back said he was sure he had recovered the ball but blamed himself for losing it in the first place, not the refs for possibly ruling incorrectly.PUT IT IN PARKEY: After missing three field goal attempts last week, including a 46-yarder at the end of regulation that could have won the game, Browns kicker Cody Parkey bounced back in a big way. In his second game with Cleveland, Parkey was good from 51 and 45 yards out.REDSKINS DEFENSIVE BLOWS: Already without cornerbacks Bashaud Breeland and DaShaun Phillips, the Redskins defense lost three more players against the Browns. Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan left in the second quarter with an elbow injury, linebacker Sua Cravens in the third with a concussion and safety David Bruton in the fourth with a concussion.Coach Jay Gruden said Kerrigan would have an MRI on his elbow. On the Cleveland side, center Austin Reiter injured his left knee, and tight end Randall Telfer injured his ankle.JACKSONS CLEATS: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson wore cleats with a design of yellow police caution tape to start dialogue about the senseless killings of both citizens and police. Originally set to wear them just in warmups, Jackson said he felt it important to wear the cleats during the game, too.I felt like Ive been silent long enough, Jackson said. Whatever the response is, thats what it is, but I feel its time for me to make a stance.PRYOR CHANNELS LEBRON: After his first career touchdown catch, Terrelle Pryor mimicked LeBron James famous chalk celebration, throwing the ball into the air. He earned a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for his trouble.QUOTABLERedskins cornerback Will Blackmon on Norman, penalized for a bow and arrow celebration following his interception: I didnt know they got him for that, and Josh did it like way off the sideline too. Noble as they might have been, aging legends who have accepted steep hometown-discount deals didnt do so for charity.Future Hall of Famers such as Dirk Nowitzki and Tim Duncan, men who have cashed NBA paychecks worth well more than $200 million each, simply valued winning with the only franchise they ever played for more than maximizing their wealth. The negotiations with Duncan and Nowitzki have always been handled quietly, devoid of the kind of drama and public posturing that ultimately led to the stunning divorce of the Miami Heat and Dwyane Wade, whose Chicago honeymoon officially began Friday with his introductory news conference. The hometown discounts werent as steep for Wade, who was never the Heats highest-paid player, but they started at a much earlier stage of his career. They each sacrificed financially for the sake of the franchise, but Duncan and Nowitzki never felt the kind of disrespect that Wade did during his last couple rounds of contract talks with the Heat. For Duncan, the financial sacrifice paid off in playoff dividends. In his final four seasons, when his salaries were a fraction of his market value, the San Antonio Spurs averaged more than 60 wins per season, won eight postseason series, advanced to a pair of Finals, and floated down the river for the fifth time as the featured attraction of a championship parade. Duncan made about $35 million during the steep-discount stage of his career, including the player option for next season he exercised a couple of weeks before announcing his retirement in what amounts to a $5.6 million farewell gift from the franchise. For Nowizki, leaving more than $30 million on the table the past two seasons didnt work out nearly as well. The Dallas Mavericks won a total of two playoff games in that span, increasing that tally to five in five seasons since the franchises lone title run in 2011.No wonder Nowitzki decided to opt out of the final season of that three-year, $25 million deal. He was more than willing to take less money to give the Mavs a chance to compete for championships in his twilight. Competing for the No. 6 seed? Pay the man.Mavs owner Mark Cuban did just that, giving Nowitzki a two-year, $50 million deal after negotiations that essentially consisted of handing the longtime face of the franchise a blank contract, seeing his suggested price, then suggesting Dirk beef up the numbers a bit more. Its a deal that prompted comparisons to the last contract of another one-team legend: Kobe Bryant, whose two-year, $48.5 million extension drew criticism. Not that Kobe cared. Its the popular thing to do, Bryant said of hometown discounts when asked about the topic during a Dallas visit in the first month of the 2014-15 season. The player takes less, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I think its a big coup for the owners to put players in situations where public perception puts pressure on them to take less money. Because if you dont, then you get criticized for it.Its absolutely brilliant, but Im not going for it. I know the new head of the players association aint going for it, either. Two years later, Nowitzki aint going for it, either. Not under these circumstances, at least.Asked that day about Bryants comments, Nowitzki explained that he willingly took a massive pay cut because his priority was to compete my last couple of years at the highest level. He cited the signing of Chandler Parsons and the trade for Tyson Chandler as good moves by the Mavs made possible by his discount deal.We feel like weve got a good group, Nowitzki said at the time, and hopefully we can make it work.We all know how that worked out. Parsons is gone to the Memphis Grizzlies after two injury-marred seasons with the Mavs, who werent willing to make a long-term investment in him after the forward had more knee surgeries (two) than playoff game appearances (one) during his Dallas tenure. Chandler left last summer when the Mavs wanted to put him on hold while pursuing DeAndre Jordan in free agency. Cheap LeBron James Shoes. It would have been a much different story if Jordan didnt jilt the Mavs after temporarily committing to Dallas. The Mavs probably would have been battling for home court in the West last season and may have become an intriguing destination for free agents this summer. In that case, Nowitzki likely would have been comfortable playing out the final season of his discount deal, allowing the Mavs front office to use every possible dollar to upgrade a team with real hopes of a long playoff run.But reality for the Mavs is constant shuffling of a roster around Nowitzki, who had grown frustrated after following up a title run with five years of failing to make it out of the first round. Hes not a hypocrite for cashing in on this contract; hes a realist.Dallas isnt in nearly as dire straits as the Los Angeles Lakers were when Bryant signed his last deal. The Lakers were coming off a 27-55 campaign in which Bryant played only six games while recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon. Over two seasons, they won a combined 38 games while Bryant made $48.5 million, but his presence was a box-office bonanza, especially during his 2015-16 farewell tour.In other words, it could be argued that Bryant was a bargain for the Lakers as the leagues highest-paid player the past two seasons. And Bryant, whose career earnings of more than $328 million rank behind only Kevin Garnett, knew that would be true.I think youve got to look at the business of basketball, Bryant said during that November 2014 visit to Dallas. I think for a lot of writers, for a lot of fans, they have a very tough time distinguishing the two. This is a business, and you have to look at individuals and what they generate and the market that theyre generating revenue in. And you cant separate those. People have a hard time separating that stuff. From a business perspective, you have to take that stuff into account, and you have to try to -- as a player -- be in situations where it can be a win-win for everybody.A win-win for Nowitzki and the Mavs would have been using his discount deal to construct a legitimate title contender. It worked once, when Nowitzki took $16 million less than a maximum contract during the summer of 2010 to ease the luxury-tax burden on Cuban, who immediately invested the savings into acquiring Chandler on a salary-dump deal.It wasnt for a lack of effort, but the Mavs couldnt find a way to parlay this most recent Dirk discount into a roster that was a threat in the West.Nowitzki, whose two-year deal -- with only $5 million of his salary in the second season guaranteed as essentially retirement insurance for the Mavs -- ensures that he wont have to hear any noise about possibly leaving to chase a ring in his 20th season, settled for more money and a chance to keep competing for a spot in the playoffs. His previous deal still helped the Mavs during their annual roster remodeling, as his $12.5 million cap hold made it relatively easy to create room to sign Harrison Barnes to a four-year, $94 million deal and trade for Andrew Bogut in a salary-dump deal. This contract will make it tough for the Mavs to be aggressive bidders in next summers free-agency market if Nowitzki returns, but thats a small price to pay after two decades of legendary service. The Mavs are good enough to fight for a playoff berth. They wont have to watch Dirk, who hopes to join Kobe as the lone members of the NBAs 20-year, only-one-team club, suffer the indignity of playing in meaningless games as his career winds down.Duncan was rewarded for his financial sacrifice by being able to compete for a championship until he rode off into the sunset. Precious few get that luxury. Nowitzki wont be on that list. The end of his career will likely be more lucrative and less fulfilling than he wanted.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Ivan Nova hopes to take a third step toward becoming the next J.A. Happ when the Pittsburgh Pirates conclude a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday afternoon.Nova will be making his third start since being acquired on the cheap -- two players to be named -- from the New York Yankees at the trade deadline. The first two starts were exactly what the Pirates had hoped for in their quest to get back in the National League wild-card race. He limited the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Dodgers to a total of four runs in 12 1/3 innings, pitching the Pirates to 5-3 and 5-1 wins, respectively. That was quite a change from the Nova who pitched his way out of New York. That version of the right-hander had recorded the third-worst ERA in baseball (5.31) since the start of the 2014 season. No doubt, the Pirates were willing to take on a resurrection project in part because a similar one worked so swimmingly the previous season. That was when they took the struggling Happ off the hands of the Seattle Mariners in exchange for a minor league pitcher, Adrian Sampson.Happ brought with him the fifth-worst ERA (4.72) since the start of the 2011 season. However, he helped pitch the Pirates into the NL wild-card game by going 7-2 with a 1.85 ERA in 11 starts. He had been 4-6 with a 4.64 ERA in 20 starts for the Mariners last season.Happ pitched himself into a three-year, $36 million deal with the Toronto Blue Jays in the offseason, and he hasnt disappointed. The left-hander is tied for the major league lead in wins this season with 16.Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says a big difference in Nova is his new defense. He didnt walk guys (and) made us put the ball in play, Roberts said after the loss to Nova and the Pirates on Friday night. Those guys over there, they can defend. That highlight-reel-filling defense was on display in the Pirates first two games in San Francisco. NFL Jerseys 2020. Pittsburgh has made three errors, but two were unusual (a dropped foul pop fly by pitcher Jameson Taillon and a catchers interference on Francisco Cervelli), and none has cost the team a run.The Giants also have been strong defensively in the series. And they might have to be again with Matt Cain (4-7, 5.47 ERA) on the mound Wednesday. The veteran could use a rejuvenating trade to the Pirates, as he has headed down the same path as Nova and Happ in recent years.Cain has gone just 8-18 with a 5.05 ERA since the start of the 2014 season. The ERA is the sixth worst in baseball over that stretch. The three-time All-Star has had more than his fair share of success against the Pirates in his career, going 3-2 with a 3.04 ERA over 11 starts. The ERA is his second lowest against an NL opponent, with only his 3.00 against the Chicago Cubs being lower.Nova (9-6, 4.68 ERA overall this year) has pitched just twice in his career against the Giants, and both were gems. He allowed just one run in 16 innings (0.56 ERA), going 1-0.Having dropped the first two games of the series to Pittsburgh, San Francisco is out of first place in the NL West for the first time since May 10. The Giants are 9-20 since the All-Star break, 1-4 to open their 10-game homestand.Nobodys happy the way weve been playing, San Francisco second baseman Joe Panik said. We know were not playing the way we should. I dont think were taking it easy. Were just not getting the job done.Pirates manager Clint Hurdle hopes his team can do the job one more time to finish the sweep, and he expects a pain-free afternoon because of the pitching matchup. You know, you look for where you can make a difference, he said. HOUSTON -- Notre Dame coach Muffet McGraw said she would do just about anything for junior forward Brianna Turner. That includes playing one of the strangest and longest games in college basketball in what was a homecoming for the Irishs All-America star.In one of the most bizarre scenarios imaginable at a major sporting event, top-ranked Notre Dame and Louisiana-Lafayette switched venues in the middle of their game due to a power outage. Even with the switch in venue and the delay, the Irish were too much for the Ragin Cajuns, winning 91-51 in a game that took nearly four hours to complete Tuesday night.I thought we showed great resilience to battle through all the adversity we had, McGraw said. The longest game in the history of womens basketball. The teams were playing at the Campbell Center in front of roughly 1,000 fans when a power outage caused a long delay in the second quarter. After calling around to local schools, the rest of the contest was played at Rice University, about 30 minutes away from the original venue. The teams bused over to Rice and picked up where they left off after a 2-hour, 35-minute delay. Notre Dame led 38-17 with 2:38 left in the second quarter. We had three options -- play tomorrow, cancel or find a place to play tonight, McGraw said. I think both teams wanted to play the game. We got here, we wanted to finish it, and coming back tomorrow morning to finish it didnt seem as much fun.Rices arena was available as the womens team played Grand Canyon on Tuesday night. The Notre Dame game resumed at 10:11 p.m. with about 30 friends and family in attendance as well as the Rice womens basketball team. The teams had a 10 minute warm-up, skipped halftime, taking just a brief break between the second and third quarters. The final 22 minutes took about 50 minutes to finish, making total game time about an hour and 30 minutes.I think you have to relax a little bit, McGraw said about how Notre Dame stayed focus. The girls were able to unwind in the locker room. They were able to stay upbeat and positive. For them, this is primetime. They are wide awake. It was the coaches I was worried about falling asleep on the bench.Turner, a Houston native, had 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Irish. At the Campbell Center, it was very exciting when the lights went out, Turner said. I knew we thought we would be able to play there, but of course, we couldnt. It was so nice of Rice -- they played a game here, too, tonight -- to let us use their facilities and finish our game. Nike Air Max Plus 97 Australia. The game was originally stopped when the lights in the arena shut off and a couple flashes of light could be seen behind loading dock doors in the corner of the arena. Emergency lights came on in the arena soon after. Both teams were sent to the locker rooms with several pops and flashes heard and seen intermittently.Thats why I coach basketball because it is inside, and we dont have no rain delays or weather problems or anything like that, Louisiana-Lafayette coach Garry Brodhead said. I have never been to a game where we had to stop it, wait awhile, move venues, so I never even thought about it.The game was a homecoming for Turner, a junior forward who played high school basketball south of Houston. McGraw had tried to get some of the local schools to play the Irish, but couldnt pull it off, forcing her to play a neutral site game against the Ragin Cajuns. The team had dinner at Turners house Monday night. Turner went to high school at Manvel, which is about 10 miles south of Houston.Manvel High School cheerleaders, dance team and band were in attendance and donned lime green Irish shirts while playing the Notre Dame fight song at the Campbell Center, but they did not make the trip to Rice. Neither did former Irish great Skylar Diggins, who was at the Campbell Center.Marina Mabrey added a career-high 27 points.Jaylyn Gordon had 16 points and Jasmin Thomas added 15 points for Louisiana-Lafayette, which shot 31 percent but forced 21 turnovers.BIG PICTURELouisiana-Lafayette: The Ragin Cajuns stayed with Notre Dame for one quarter, trailing 19-15 after one. The second quarter was not kind for Louisiana-Lafayette, which started the quarter 0 for 9 from the floor and turned the ball over four times.Notre Dame: The Fighting Irish got in a groove and didnt let the delay affect them. Notre Dame hit nine of 12 from the field in the second and was in a rhythm defensively when the lights went out. When play resumed, Notre Dame did not let up.
