MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Lynx have heard it all since they donned black shirts before a game in remembrance of two men who were shot by police and the five Dallas police officers who were killed in an attack last week. Cheap Hines Ward Jersey .They have been hailed as crusaders for using their platform to start a dialogue about police violence. They were also told they should just shut up and play ball. They have seen a social media campaign sprout to pack the Target Center for Friday nights game against the New York Liberty -- another team that has been outspoken in its response to the shootings -- and also watched off-duty police officers walk away from their security jobs at a game in response to their stand.Im not surprised by either. Its a very emotional time in our community, Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson said. We were just excited about the voices that we heard. Its all about the dialogue we can create.Addressing such a sensitive topic in such a public fashion can be tricky -- particularly for the league -- and the players say they do so with the comfort that WNBA President Lisa Borders and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver have encouraged them to speak their minds when social issues are important to them.We appreciate like crazy the support weve gotten, particularly from the league, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve said. For Rebekkah (Brunson) to feel like when youre going to work and the people around you support you and not just in things that benefit them, it makes you proud to go work for that organization.Silver has long been an advocate of players standing up for issues they believe in and the league has been vocal in addressing issues of race, gender and equality in society.I actually think it demonstrates that these are multidimensional people, Silver said Tuesday. They live in this society, and they have strong views about how things should be. So Im very encouraging of that. But it was clear, too, that there are limits.Silver said he would prefer if teams do not alter their uniforms for warmups the way the Lynx and Liberty have done.I think its a very slippery slope, he said. As to where you would draw the line when its appropriate for a particular player to use that, use a game, pregame, as a political forum, I think its a dangerous road for us to go down. So I would greatly prefer that the players use the platform theyre given, social media, press conferences, media in locker rooms, however they want to do it, to make their political points of view be known. The NBA and WNBA have lucrative contracts with adidas for in-game apparel, including jerseys and warmup attire. The Lynx have already said they only planned to wear the shirts for one game and now will shift their focus to addressing the issue in other ways. The Liberty reached what the players called a compromise in which they will wear plain black shirts bearing only the adidas logo. You understand when you take a position like that that there is going to be the good and the bad and the ugly at times that youll have to face, Liberty veteran Swin Cash said. If you stand on something you believe in and youre committed to making change, then you understand the risks that come with it.Reeve said the Lynx understand of some of the limitations, and players have and will continue to write messages on the shoes that they wear during the games as Breanna Stewart did with the victims of the Orlando night club shooting. When you get on the court then you start talking about sponsors of the shirts youre wearing and things like that, its really not about wanting to silence or not put forth in a public arena, Reeve said. You start entering into other realms of consideration beyond us.Reeve said she consulted with Borders while the team was deciding what to do, culminating with them wearing black shirts that had the victims names -- Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minnesota -- along with a Dallas Police Department logo and the message Change starts with us. Justice & Accountability.Liberty star Tina Charles said that the support she feels she has from both Borders and Silver has empowered her.Especially when its hurting the society, especially when its not just you that is hurting but other individuals, Charles said. So the fact that I have some power, I use that as a sounding board to reflect what Adam Silver is saying, that you should use your platform to show how you feel, especially in the crisis that we have right now.Players on both teams said that they wont stop with a shirt.I think we made a pretty strong stand, Brunson said. Right now were trying to focus on whats next. The shirts were where we started, where we began to speak and use our voice. Now were trying to figure out whats next, who we can use our voice to be more impactful beyond a shirt to help this time. Authentic Jaylen Samuels Jersey . CHICAGO - The Major League Baseball Players Association formally appealed Alex Rodriguezs 211-game suspension Wednesday, sending the case to an independent arbitrator. Replica Costa Rica Jerseys . Union spokesman Greg Bouris confirmed the appeal and said the players association had no further comment. Rodriguez, who was back at third base and batting third for the New York Yankees against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night, said he had "no reaction" to the filing of the grievance. "I dont think any of us thought it was going to be any different," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "As far as having a reaction, its kind of what I expected. Its part of the process that was negotiated between MLB and the players association and you let it play out. I expect him to play a lot. We need him to help us." Major League Baseball declined comment. Rodriguez was suspended through the 2014 season on Monday when the league penalized 13 players following an investigation into Biogenesis of America, a shuttled Florida anti-aging clinic accused of distributing banned performance-enhancing drugs. The other 12 players accepted 50-game suspensions, but Rodriguez said he planned to fight. Union head Michael Weiner said the punishment for the slugger was "way out of line." Under the collective bargaining and joint drug agreements, discipline must meet a "just cause" standard. Rodriguezs punishment was scheduled to begin Thursday, but he is allowed to keep playing until the grievance is heard by arbitrator Fredric Horowitz. He isnt expected to rule until November or December at the earliest. Coming back from hip surgery in January, Rodriguez played his first game of the season Monday night in the series opener at Chicago. The three-time AL MVP singled in his first at-bat and was 2 for 6 with a walk in his first two games. He followed that up by going 1 for 5 with a single and walk on Wednesday. The 38-year-old Rodriguez has been booed lustily since his return, except for when he was hit by a pitch in the third inning of the Yankees 3-2 loss Tuesday night. The Yankees are off Thursday and then open a three-game series against AL Central-leading Detroit on Friday night in New York. It will be the first home game for Rodriguez since the suspension was announced. "I am curious what its going to be like Friday," Girardi said. "Im not sure. And I dont really know what the appropriate response is. I dont think its my right to tell people how to respond certain situations." Asked how he expects to be received, Rodriguez said, "Im not sure." How would he like the crowd to react? "Same way you would like them," Rodriguez said. "Again, Im just super excited to come home, put on the pinstripes and play for the greatest fans in baseball." Rodriguez, who agreed to a 10-year, $275 million contract with the Yankees in December 2007, is the majors active leader with 647 career homers. He helped New York win the 2009 World Series, batting .365 with six homers and 18 RBIs in the post-season that year. In an interview on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM, former teammate Johnny Damon said Wednesday that title would be diminished if Rodriguez used performance-enhancing drugs during the playoff run. "I really havent gotten to think that far, but if thats how he was able to hit in the post-season, like he did that year, then yeah, absolutely," said Damon, who has been friends with Rodriguez since they were teenagers. "Then you start going and saying, Well, was anybody on their team cheating? "Theres just so many different factors that determine if a team wins, and A-Rod was a huge determining factor." Asked about Damons comments, Rodriguez said he hadnt seen what he had said. "I talk to Johnny all the time so no disappointment whatsoever," Rodriguez said.Cheap Costa Rica Soccer Jerseys . RIO DE JANEIRO -- Carolina Panthers wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. has a unique perspective on Usain Bolt, who further burnished his credentials at the Rio Olympics as the greatest sprinter in history.Ginn competed against the Jamaican when their 4x100-meter relay teams squared off in high school at the prestigious Penn Relays. He was recruited to Ohio State with the thought that he could qualify for the 2008 Olympics, and he ran the 100 meters in 10.2 seconds as a freshman. Ginn chose football over track, and now is gearing up for another season with the Panthers after coming up short in the last Super Bowl.Just watching (the Olympics) on TV right now, I kind of get goosebumps on certain races ... like the 4x400, the 400, 200, 110, Ginn told reporters during training camp. That gives me goosebumps, because a lot of them guys are No. 1 guys we raced in high school.Ginn is one of several NFL players who had stellar track careers before football -- a sport where Olympic speed is a coveted commodity. Many of them were so good at sprints, jumps and hurdles in college or high school that they thought long and hard about pursuing Olympic gold over a Super Bowl ring. Here is a look at some of them:MARQUISE GOODWIN: The Buffalo Bills wideout attempted last month to qualify for the Rio Games in long jump, but finished seventh, blaming the result on a strained hamstring from the qualifications. He made the Olympic track and field team in London in 2012, finishing 10th in long jump. Goodwin, a two-time NCAA champion in the event, is now with the Bills getting ready for the 2016 season.--JAMAAL CHARLES: Before he became one of the top running backs in football, Charles was an elite sprinter. His best time in the 100 in college at the University of Texas was 10.27. By comparison, Bolt clocked in at 9.81 in his gold medal win in Rio.During the NFL lockout a few years ago, Charles told The Associated Press that he would have gone back to track if the work stoppage dragged into the season. Track is my first love, he said.---CHRIS JOHNSON: While a running back for the Tennessee Titans, Johnson raised eyebrows during the 2012 London Games when he told the Tennessean he could beat Bolt in the 40-yard dash. Johnson had good reason to be confident about his chances in the 40. Wholesale Costa Rica Jerseys. Bolt is a slow starter, and Johnson holds the record for fastest time in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine -- 4.24 seconds.---ROBERT GRIFFIN III: The Cleveland Browns quarterback was a superb hurdler at Baylor University before he made football his focus and became a Heisman Trophy winner. He was an All-American in the 400-meter hurdles, with a career-best time of 49.22 to win the Big 12 Outdoor Championship in 2008. The gold medalist in the event Thursday finished in 47.73.---ADRIAN PETERSON: The Minnesota Vikings running back was a high school track star in Palestine, Texas, before playing football at Oklahoma. He ran personal bests of 10.19 seconds in the 100 and 21.23 seconds in the 200. While he was in a contract dispute with the Vikings two years ago, Peterson briefly considered leaving the NFL to make a run at the Olympics.---PAST GENERATION: Former Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best qualified for the Rio Olympics for his fathers native St. Lucia and ran against Bolt in Rio in a preliminary race in the 100. He did not advance after finishing in 10.16.The former NFL players who had perhaps the most decorated track careers were Bob Hayes and Renaldo Nehemiah. Nicknamed Bullet, Hayes won two gold medals in the 1964 Olympics with electrifying performances in the 100 (10 seconds) and 4x100 relay. He went on to become an All-Pro and Super Bowl-winning wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. His speed was so phenomenal it forced defenses to move away from man-to-man coverage that was the norm in that era.Nehemiah was the worlds best hurdler for a time in the late 1970s and early `80s, becoming the first athlete to run the 110-meter high hurdles under 13 seconds. Nehemiah was considered a favorite in the 1980 Moscow Olympics in the event but could not compete because of the U.S. boycott amid tensions with the Soviet Union.Nehemiah played three seasons as a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers and was on the team that won the Super Bowl after the 1984 season. It was his last season with the team. The 49ers drafted Jerry Rice the following season. Nike NFL Jerseys China Jerseys NFL Cheap Cheap NFL T-shirts Wholesale NFL White Jerseys Wholesale NFL Camo Jerseys China Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China ' ' '

MILWAUKEE -- Larry Drew could have sulked during his last season in Atlanta, complained to anyone who would listen about being a lame duck despite a winning record and three straight playoff appearances. Adidas Sidney Crosby Jersey . He never did. "When you stay in this game as long as I have, the most important thing is you dont take a negative situation and keep it negative," Drew said. "I thought I would get something positive of it." That came Monday, as Drew was introduced as the new coach of the Milwaukee Bucks six days after his awkward tenure with the Atlanta Hawks ended with the hiring of his replacement. Drew has a three-year deal with the Bucks, and the team has an option for a fourth season. "I am very, very excited about being here, I really am," Drew said. "Im going to do everything in my power to put this group together as fast as possible, to making us competitive, to making sure these guys are in tune with each other. If I do that, chances are were going to be a pretty good basketball team." If not, hell have to answer to his uncle. Drews uncle, Norman Johnson, has lived in Milwaukee for 49 years, and he joined the coach, his wife and the couples two younger sons for Mondays news conference. "Ive been a Bucks fan ever since the Bucks have been here," Johnson said. "Im very proud of him," Johnson added. "I hope he continues his good work. I think he will." Drew was 128-102 in Atlanta, and the Hawks reached the post-season in each of his three seasons. His first year, they upset Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic in the first round and then took the Chicago Bulls to six games in the Eastern Conference semifinals. They reached the playoffs again last year despite having Al Horford for only 11 games. And he did perhaps his finest job this season. Despite knowing he would be out of a job at the end of the year as new general manager Danny Ferry remakes the team, losing All-Star Joe Johnson to an off-season trade and seeing Lou Williams and Zaza Pachulia go down with season-ending injuries, Drew led Atlanta to a 44-38 record. The Hawks took Indiana to six games before losing in the first round of the playoffs. "I feel very good about who I am as a coach," Drew said. "You give me some guys who are willing to play hard every night, who are committed to playing for one another, who are committed to playing for the city, I guarantee you Ill give you a group you can be proud of." Drew repeatedly stressed the importance of building relationships with his players, a quality general manager John Hammond had made a priority after Milwaukees late-season collapse. The Bucks lost 12 of their last 16 games to finish with a losing record for a third straight season, then were swept by the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs, losing all four games by double digits. Teaching Xs and Os is no longer enough, Drew said, and one of the things he was most proud of during his time in Atlanta was that his players always knew he had their backs. In fact, as Drew was flying to Milwaukee on Sunday, he got a congratulatory text message from Atlanta guard Kyle Korver. "Thats not going to change. Im going to do the exact same thing coming here to Milwaukee," Drew said. "Were going to become buddies. Were going to become good friends." He plans to start reaching out to his new players immediately, starting with John Henson. The rookie had planned to be in Milwaukee later this week, but re-arranged his schedule so he could be here in time for Drews news conference. "You get on the coachs side right away," Drew joked, drawing laughs. "I think hes going to be a real good fit," Henson said. "Hes just what we need. Hes a player relationship guy and the players are going to know their roles." Drew said hes not committed to a specific offensive style -- "Im not a big fan of predictability. Offensively, I think thats very easy to defend." -- but Milwaukees two young big men, Henson and Larry Sanders, will have big roles. Sanders made huge strides in his third season, more than doubling his scoring average (9.8 points) and grabbing more rebounds (672) than he had in his first two years combined. Henson, a rookie, showed his potential with a monster game April 10 in Orlando, flirting with a triple-double with 25 rebounds, 17 points and seven blocks. "This team has really good young talent. Young talent that Im excited about developing," Drew said. "The big guys are going to be a big part of the future. Their development is going to be very important, but you cant teach height, you cant teach length." As strong as Milwaukees frontcourt is, its backcourt is just as unsettled. Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings, who led the Bucks in scoring, are both question marks to return next season. Jennings is a restricted free agent while Ellis has until June 20 to exercise an $11 million player option. That kind of uncertainty doesnt faze Drew, however. "I wouldnt call it a challenge," he said. "I would just say theres some uncertainty and thats part of the NBA." Though Drew came to Milwaukee as a child to visit his uncle, its been a long time since hes spent any time in the city. On most of his recent trips, all hes seen is the airport, the hotel and the arena. But Hammond made it a point to show him around during the interview process, and Drew came away impressed. That just makes his new job even better. "Its absolutely beautiful here. Absolutely beautiful," Drew said. "Im really excited about being here and being the new coach of this team." Cheap Adidas NHL Jerseys . - Connor McDavid scored 53 seconds into overtime as the Erie Otters came from behind to defeat the visiting Guelph Storm 4-3 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action. Adidas Trevor Daley Jersey . -- In one brief spurt, Brazil turned a close game into a rout and proved again it will be a strong World Cup favourite.http://www.adidaspenguinsjerseys.com/?tag=adidas-daniel-sprong-jersey . Australia are missing Mitchell Starc a lot more than South Africa are pining for AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla. That much was true in the aftermath of South Africas 142-run hiding of the visitors at the Wanderers, taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match ODI series. South Africa captain Faf du Plessis said the obvious thing following the result, that Starc had left a huge hole in Australias team. You throw Starc back into that team, its completely different, du Plessis said. Hes proven many times he gets wickets ... hes got that extra pace. Hes extremely good to the tail-enders. He gets the ball to reverse. In the West Indies he did that to us twice, came in and just rolled over the tail. Extra pace in all formats is a weapon that a captain wants to have in his side.Starc had been rested from the tour of South Africa but later in September, during a training session, injured his leg in a freak accident. He suffered a deep shin laceration after colliding with training equipment, following which he underwent surgery and received 30 stitches. Cheap Adidas Penguins Jerseys. Du Plessis lauded his team for what he described as a complete performance. He also noted that these victories demonstrated the depth that existed in South African cricket. That was a complete game, du Plessis said. A great disciplined batting performance and as good a performance I think youll see from us. To beat Australia, which is a fantastic one-day team, to beat them like that means weve competed in every aspect of the game. Our performances have been extremely good and its without the two best players in the world. It shows that there is a future without AB de Villiers. Hopefully we can have him back and Hashim Amla, but it shows that there is a lot of talent in South African cricket. Nike NFL Jerseys China Jerseys NFL Cheap Cheap NFL T-shirts Wholesale NFL White Jerseys Wholesale NFL Camo Jerseys China Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China ' ' '

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Derek Sanderson Jersey . -- A.J. Griffin, who missed 43 games with right shoulder stiffness, has not thrown more than five innings in his five starts since coming off the disabled list on June 25.Griffin is 0-1 with a 6.17 ERA, allowing 16 earned runs in 23 1/3 innings, in those five starts. He will start Sunday for the Texas Rangers on five days rest in the series finale against the Kansas City Royals. The two teams have split the first two games after the Rangers won 7-4 on Saturday night.Griffin said his arm angle was not the same after the first few innings. It is part of it, Rangers manager Jeff Banister said.He also acknowledged stamina, endurance played into it.In his previous start on Monday at Anaheim, Griffin was staked to a 4-0 lead but gave up the lead, charged with five runs and four hits, including a home run, and three walks in five-plus innings. He has struggled in the fourth and fifth innings in his recent starts.Thats one of the things weve talked to him about, Banister said.Griffin threw only 76 pitches against the Angels before being removed. He threw 94 and 96 pitches in his previous two starts.I think every pitcher that comes back from not throwing for an extended period of time, they are going to have certain setbacks, Banister said. One thing about A.J., weve encouraged him to continue to work on the endurance, which is going to allow him to be stronger. Its going to allow him to maintain the mechanical integrity throughout the delivery. The effects of not pitching, thats individual based, but for sure there is some effect. What effect, I couldnt tell you. He does get to a certain point where the mechanics do change a little bit. Were trying to get him strong enough where he can push that envelope a little bit farther down the pitch count, further along in the game.Griffin pitched only 14 1/3 innings in the minors last season and missed the 2014 season after being shut down in spring training with Oakland with an elbow injury that would require surgery. He was 14-10 with a 3.83 ERA in 32 starts and 200 innings with the Athletics in 2013.The Royals will counter with right-hander Edinson Volquez, who has had no success against the Rangers, which were his first club. Volquez is 0-2 with an 8.22 ERA in three previous starts against Texas. He last faced them on June 5, 2015, losing 4-0 at Kansas City.Volquez is 2-2 with an 11.50 ERA in four starts this season against American League West clubs. The Royals have some concern about reliever Joakim Soria, who gave up four runs -- three on an Adrian Beltre home run in the seventh inning -- in two innings. Soria has a 9.72 ERA in his past nine relief appearances. He really did a great job the first inning and had two outs there and, boom, they scored the run, Royals manager Ned Yost said. And were thinking, OK, lets hold it right there, but he just kind of got a pitch up over the middle of the plate to Beltre. Hes a good hitter. Michael Dawsons second half goal canceled out Gareth McAuleys opener as Hull and West Brom played out a 1-1 draw in an even match at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Wilson Ramos Jersey .The visitors, fresh off a rampant 4-0 win over Burnley last Monday, started confidently against a Hull side who have been down in the dumps recently. The Baggies had by far the better of the first half and grabbed the opener with five minutes of the first 45 remaining when the unmarked McAuley headed home from a left wing corner. However, Tony Pulis men started the second period lethargically and Mike Phelans team talk at half time clearly worked as his side came out looking far improved from its first half showing. The club got the equaliser its play deserved when Michael Dawson pounced on a loose ball from a long free-kick to volley into the near corner. The rest of the match was evenly fought, with Salomon Rondon missing a great chance at the death with a free header, which means West Brom stay ninth while Hull occupy 18th spot in the top flight. Cheap Rays Jerseys Authentic . WALDORF, Maryland -- The first thing Courtney Knichel typically does when she arrives in her office on a Saturday afternoon is change into a pair of Converse sneakers. Saturdays with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs involve manual labor, even for the general manager. But today, thats not the first thing Knichel does when she arrives for work at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Maryland. Before she can lace up her chucks, marketing manager Austin Gore is waddling up to her. His head is poking out of a bulbous, furry, blue mascot suit; his huge, red clown shoes are awkwardly scuffing along the hallway; and in his giant, blue hands, hes carrying papers for her to look over.Hes dressed as Pinch, the Blue Crabs mascot, for the team photo later in the afternoon -- but he also needs to make sure all the names are spelled correctly in the in-game videos. In between lacing up her shoes, Knichel corrects the spelling of McCullough to McCawley.Welcome to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, an independent league baseball team in Waldorf, Maryland. While theyre based about 30 miles from Nationals Park and 60 miles from the Baltimore Orioles Camden Yards, theyre a world away from both. In baseballs backwater, Knichel is breaking ground as the only woman general manager in the Atlantic League.***Knichel, 29, started at the bottom of the Blue Crabs organization. A native of Charles County, Maryland, Knichel became a marketing intern for the Blue Crabs in 2008, when the organization formed; she was fresh out of college when her mom signed her up for a summer internship. During a year-end sorority party, Knichel received a call from the then-nascent Blue Crabs, offering her an internship. She wrote the details down on a nearby napkin.Unsure of what her job really entailed, Knichel showed up on her first day in heels to look professional. She spent the evening picking up trash in the stadium, because in 2008, for a fledgling independent baseball team, marketing intern really meant grunt laborer.Knichel was quickly introduced to a job with long hours, but it turned out to be much more than that. When the original marketing manager was fired in May of the first season, Knichel took over. She had been with the team for just a few months. It was mayhem.I had no idea what I was doing, Knichel said. That whole first summer I taught myself everything. For the next eight years, she steadily worked her way up the ladder for the Blue Crabs -- marketing assistant, then marketing manager for four years, then assistant GM for three after that. When Patrick Day, the previous GM, left to take over the New Britain (Connecticut) Bees in December 2015, Knichel was the natural successor. Its not like it was, [Courtney] hasnt been around the game, but lets give her a shot, manager Jeremy Owens said. Shes been here. Shes seen. The Blue Crabs released a short statement about the management change in March, but there was little fanfare.***Its four hours from game time, and the issue is tables. The Blue Crabs sell tables along the stadiums concourse for local vendors during games. But folding tables, as it turns out, are worth their weight in gold: the players need them for the clubhouse, concessions needs them to set up, the front office needs them in the main office. But right now, the game-day staff needs 25-odd tables for the vendors, and corporate sales manager Jason Sproesser protests, saying they dont have enough. Knichel tells him simply: Figure it out.At first glance, Knichel appears part-stereotype: Her hair is perfectly curled and she wears a large, monogramed necklace. Her office is not only decorated with nine years worth of Blue Crabs momentos, but also with a pink base from a breast cancer awareness event and a mug scrawled with Worlds best lady boss in pink script. On the wall behind her desk, theres a framed picture of the Blue Crabs opening pitch. If that clashes with the summer boys culture of baseball, Knichel does not care -- she has a vision for what she wants, and shes quick to respond if she sees something out of place.Earlier this year, Knichel was visiting the locker room after a game to talk to Owens. As she usually does, she called out before entering to make sure all the players were at least decently dressed. As Knichel walked in, a first-year player made a crack, miming her peering through her fingers to see the supposedly naked studs in the locker room. Knichel stopped.I was like, Dude, Ive worked here nine years, she said. If I wanted to look at d--ks, Id have looked at d--ks, you know? The locker room fell silent, and the player was so subdued he later worried if he was going to get released. Knichel went on with her meeting.People say stupid stuff, said Brian Bures, a three-year veteran among the pitching staff. Shes handled it as well as she can, I think. Youre going to get a reaction, because thats just how it is.Baseball as a whole -- and most especially the major leagues -- has long had a diversity problem. The all-womens league of the WWII era is long gone, and with the advent of softball, its rare that a woman makes her way onto a professional baseball team. The path to broadening executive and front-office positions beyond men has been tortuously slow. Some major league teams employ women at senior levels, particularly in marketing. But there are only a few women in player personnel or baseball operation roles. Linda Smith of the Kansas City Royals is one of a handful of women with direct input into player personnel decisions at the major league level.Kim Ng made waves after getting hired as an assistant GM by the Yankees and Dodgers, and she has been mentioned in several GM openings. She has been rumored to be the best candidate for the first female MLB GM.Minor league teams have seen a number of women as general managers -- though they typically dont make player personnel decisions; those are handled by the teams parent organization. A few hours down the road from Knichel and the Blue Crabs, Blair Hoke is GM of the Pulaski Yankees, a Rookie League team. With the Blue Crabs, Knichel decides who gets signed, who gets promoted and who gets released. Shes in charge of the bottom line, and that means when a player has to be acquired or released, shes in on the deal.On this day, Knichel is finalizing the reelease of high-profile player Fred Lewis, a one-time MLB journeyman. Cheap Rays Jerseys. Lewis has been injured most of the season. The Blue Crabs say hes cleared to play. Lewis says he still cant go and is still in pain. He hasnt shown up in a while and didnt show up for the team picture.Thats it, Knichel said after Lewis was a no-show for the team picture, though shed already made the decision to release him. Lewis official release came through the wire after Saturdays game. With that decision and countless other personnel moves, Knichel has already (quietly) broken barriers. She may break more.On the weekly teleconference with other league GMs, Atlantic League president Rick?White called everyone guys or fellas. Knichel is the only person on the call whos not a man.Halfway through this season, White emailed Knichel to apologize -- hed totally forgotten there was a woman on the call.I told him I dont mind, Knichel said. I know Im playing ball with the boys.Knichel is also dead-set to have things her way, and shes single-minded in her standards. If there needs to be 25 tables on the concourse, there are going to be 25 tables on the concourse. If the sales team needs to make 50 calls a day, Knichel says she doesnt expect to hear why its not getting done.Courtney is really strong-willed, said accounting manager Samantha Slovik. Shes on a path, and she knows what shes set out to do.Knichel is one of a few women in senior management at the Blue Crabs front office -- Slovik is in her third year as accounting coordinator, and Alexandra Wohlenhaus is the box office coordinator. Both describe Knichel as approachable but unmistakably headstrong.Wohlenhaus, Slovik and Knichel make the Blue Crabs something unusual: a baseball front office with women in all of the senior management positions. All three started as interns with the Blue Crabs, and each has been promoted within the system. Knichel says it wasnt some grand scheme or vision -- just a result of the most driven and organized rising in responsibility.I didnt bring those girls in because girls are better, Knichel said. But are these girls better? Kind of, yeah.***Knichel may be on baseballs outer rim, but there are still occasional brushes with the big time.Earlier in 2016, the Blue Crabs were involved in a swirl of rumors around minor league moves. The Batavia Muckdogs, operating at a significant loss and struggling with flagging attendance, were for sale.A group of local investors wanted to bring the Batavia Muckdogs to Waldorf as a Nationals affiliate -- but the deal fell through because of a lack of agreement between the Nationals and the Orioles, both of whom had to approve the deal because Waldorf is in the territory of both organizations. What would have happened -- or what still might happen -- is totally up in the air to Knichel. She said she has no idea whether a minor league organization would incorporate some of the Blue Crabs front office or bring in their own people. But Knichel and White both said they were confident that the Blue Crabs would remain in Southern Maryland through the 2017 season and likely through the 2018 season.***During the afternoons leading up to game days, Knichel takes a lap around the stadium. She circles every inch of the place, putting up placards that have fallen down, straightening umbrellas, pulling down signs still up from yesterdays game.I like to do it every day, to make sure everything is good, Knichel said.In her first days and weeks as GM, Knichel struggled with micromanaging. Everything had to be perfect -- and nobody could do it better than she could.Ive learned to relinquish duties, Knichel said. And if something goes wrong, thats okay.Micromanagement is an understandable issue for Knichel, who has worked her way up the ladder in Waldorf. After nine years, this is home -- even at the fringes of a sport that is still struggling with the concept that women are just as qualified to run the show as men.She happily shows off the features shes most proud of: the kiddie wading pool just off the outfield that she had re-filled this year for the price of one outfield sign, the picnic tables along the concourse she had installed, the staff members spaced out along the concourse acting as de facto ushers and concierge.Knichel remembers putting seats together minutes before the gates opened for the first-ever Blue Crabs game. Now, Regency Furniture Stadium, which shares a parking lot with a metro bus stop and whose concrete is chipped and siding is starting to peel, is the place she doesnt want to leave. She knows this ballpark better than everyone, Wohlenhaus said. This, Knichel said, is a place thats very special to me.On this particular Saturday, Knichel is standing along the third-base concourse. People started lining up outside the gates well before they opened, and theres not a rain cloud in sight. Today will be a good day.The Blue Crabs averaged about 3,500 in attendance in 2014 and 2015, good for the top 10 of independent league baseball. On a good Saturday like today, the park might bring in 5,000 or more. The chucks get some good use: just before the gates open, it turns out the Blue Crabs are, as usual, one table short. So Knichel hustles down to the clubhouse and helps haul the final table into position. When another vendor requests some chairs, she ducks into a concourse closet and finds a few for them.Shes not joking when she says she knows everybody -- dozens of people come up to her to say hello and to chat with her for a few minutes during the game. Theres the owner of the local Chick-Fil-A, a big sponsor; theres the guy who runs a local haunted house; and Knichels mom scolding her for missing church two Sundays in a row.Tonight is a good night, though. The stadium is full, and Knichel is able to present a local charity with a check for more than $5,000. Whats more, the Blue Crabs win 5-3. After the game, there are fireworks and a party on the field. But its already 10 p.m. and most of the young families head home.Knichel is still on the field, and good thing she wore her chucks. Some of the fireworks from the postgame show blew onto the field, and somebody has to pick them up. Nike NFL Jerseys China Jerseys NFL Cheap Cheap NFL T-shirts Wholesale NFL White Jerseys Wholesale NFL Camo Jerseys China Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China ' ' '

Two straight weeks of heavy losses makes us look like the Cleveland Browns. To get back on track, we start with a must-miss affair on Thursday night. Well probably be watching hockey instead of the Titans hosting the Jaguars.Still, despite Tennessee being 3-4 and Jacksonville at 2-4, both are in the hunt in the depressing AFC South. MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia has been known for its defense for years. So far the Mountaineers offense has been putting on quite a show.Esa Ahmad tied a career-high with 14 points, Nathan Adrian added 12 and the No. 19 Mountaineers cruised to a 100-41 victory over New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon. This is West Virginias first back-to-back games with over 100 points since the 1996-97 season. The Mountaineers (3-0) started off a little stale in the opening minutes, trailing the Wildcats (2-2) 4-1 after 1:52, but then went on a 22-2 run over the next 6:30 to take a commanding lead midway through the first half.Included in that 22-2 run was an impressive play by Jevon Carter with a little over 12 minutes to play in the first half. Just as the ball was about to go out of bounds, Carter somersaulted in the air with the ball and tossed it to Teyvon Myers who was there for the dunk.I was just playing hard, said Carter. I didnt know that he would be there. Were just taught to throw it back under the basket when were going out of bounds.West Virginia ended the game with another run in the second half outscoring New Hampshire 36-9 in the final ten minutes.Ahmad led six Mountaineers in double figures. Lamont West had 13 points, Adrian and Jevon Carter had 12 and both Teyvon Myers and Tarik Phillip had 11.I feel like I have been aggressive (in the first two games), said Ahmad. I definitely see myself taking more of a leadership role. Along with JC (Carter) Nate (Adrian), of course you look at those guys as leaders but I definitely look at the role too.West Virginia also continued its heavy press presence, scoring 47 points off of 34 New Hampshire turnovers.Yeah, (New Hampshire head coach) Billy (Herrion) is a really good coach and they are really good in half-court if you saw their Templle game, said Huggins.Cheap Air Max 95 Mens. WASHINGTON -- Deven Simms, fouled after stealing an inbounds pass, made two free throws with 12 seconds remaining to help Arkansas State hold off a furious Georgetown rally for a 78-72 victory on Thursday night. Keith Kinkaid Jersey.Georgetown (1-2) trailed by double figures most of the game, used a 22-7 run, capped by two free throws from L.J. Arkansas State got the ball back on a charge then lost it on a steal by Jagan Mosley but Pryors rushed 3-pointer with four seconds left missed. The Red Wolves (2-1) took the lead for good at 13-12 with 11:47 left in the first half and were up 48-33 at halftime.Devin Carter scored 25 points for Arkansas State, which shot 56 percent, hit half its 12 3-point attempts and won the boards 35-30.Jessie Govan scored 20 points and Peak 18 for the Hoyas, who were only 3 of 18 from the arc. Cheap Hockey Devils Jerseys . His throw home beat Mauer, but catcher Yan Gomes couldnt handle it and was charged with an error on the play.Brian Dozier drove in two runs for the Twins, and Trevor May (1-2) pitched the 11th to earn the win.Carlos Santana had three hits to extend his hitting streak to a career-high 13 games and drove in two runs for the Indians. The game was delayed by rain in the top of the 11th for 2 hours, 5 minutes.Santanas error at first base in the seventh inning allowed one run to score, and Minnesota tied it on a single up the middle by Dozier. In his second career appearance, Colon walked Mauer, gave up a long double to Miguel Sano and then intentionally walked Dozier before Keplers comebacker ended a long night.Trevor Bauer gave up four runs -- three earned -- and seven hits with six strikeouts and three walks in six innings for Cleveland.Tyler Duffey allowed four runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings with three walks and two strikeouts for the Twins.Minnesota had struggled with runners in scoring position all night, twice failing to score with runners on second and third and nobody out.The rain started to fall in the ninth inning and really picked up in the 11th, so crew chief Larry Vanover called for the tarp with two outs in the top of the inning.SCARY MOMENTThe game stopped for several minutes in the seventh when a young boy sitting just to the right of the Indians dugout was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Mike Napoli. The ball caromed high in the air a full section over and ballpark personnel rushed to the boys side. Napoli and the rest of the players on the field looked on with concern, but the boy appeared to be in decent shape as the man he was with carried him up the aisle and to the concourse. The boy grabbed his haat and put it back on his head and appeared to be alert and looking around as they exited the seating area.Brian Gibbons Jersey. So we offer up this ceremony and these sacrifices as peace offerings and gifts! May the hits be plenty!! Its probably stuff that you dont do in the normal workplace, but I thought it was good. It showed Gomer how much they care about him, which is good.TRAINERS ROOMIndians: After playing on Friday night in his rehab assignment, OF Michael Brantley was given the day off on Saturday. RIO DE JANEIRO -- This was the most bonkers, eventful, turbulent day of sevens we have seen in recent memory. Cheap NHL Jerseys . The formbook wasnt just ripped up, it was shredded. At the forefront was the gargantuan shock from Japan as they defeated New Zealand, a match which saw superstar Sonny Bill Williams pick up an Olympics-ending injury. Here we round up the five key talking points from a momentous day one at the sevens. The giant killers strike againIn 2015 the Brave Blossoms, Japans 15 team then managed by Eddie Jones, turned Brighton into a sea of red and white after they caused arguably the biggest upset in the history of professional rugby when they beat the Springboks. Just under a year on and theyve done it again as they clipped the Kiwis wings, seeing them off 14-12.Like that memorable afternoon last year, this was a performance packed with heart and an ability to turn possession into points. For a team who finished 15th in the World Rugby Sevens Series, this was a remarkable result, much to the delirium of their support in the crowd. It bodes well ahead of Tokyo 2020.It is unbelievable, Japans Lomano Lemeki said moments after their win.You never see a minnow come here and beat a team which is supposed to be a gold medal contender. I am still shocked, to be honest. But having lost their second match to Great Britain -- they had a kick to draw the match with the final play -- they now need a win over Kenya on day two to stay in the mix for a spot in the quarterfinals. The wounded Kiwi is a dangerous beastAfter the womens tournament went to script with the two best sides New Zealand and Australia competing in the final, the Black Ferns male counterparts wouldve fancied their chances of going one better and claiming gold. But if they are to take the top honour here in Rio, they will have to pluck the most majestic New Zealand White rabbit out of the hat.The Japan result was the shock of day one and with Sonny Bill Williams and Joe Webber sidelined, they have lost two of their key match-winners; they are players who can turn a game on its head. But they bounced back impressively against Kenya, winning 28-5, and in front of the watching Richie McCaw they did their best to emulate his warrior spirit as they kept themselves in the tournament. Injuries can galvanise a team; underestimate the Kiwis at your peril and that win over Kenya will give them heart.Tom Mitchell pulling the strings for Team GBIt was two from two for Great Britain and the perfect start for Great Britain on day one of the sevens. Tom Mitchell, their captain, was the fulcrum around which the rest of the team pivoted. He played brilliantly as sweeper. With players like Dan Norton and Dan Bibby in their ranks, they have brilliant finishers and while their story may fly under the radar amid the events of Japans game against New Zealand, they are ticking along nicely. At the end of the day, you have to come away with the results, Mitchell said after their 21-19 win over Japan. We always go out to deliver good performances and while Japan performance wasnt as a good as wed have liked, well take the two wins, rest up tonight and go into tomorrow looking to deliver better performances and get the wins.Fiji lead the way but South Africa are going wellWith the their prime minister watching on from the stands - he sat with spare seats either side, flanked by security guards - Fiji were the most consistent side on day one. They survived the scare of playing hosts Brazil in the opener and although their lineout faltered, their cutting edge was sharper than any of the other teams. Argentina gave them a good challenge but again their class shone through. But South Africa also impressed. They eased past Spain and then dispatched the impressive France outfit in their second match. Elsewhere Argentina and Australia are still in the mix after going one from two but it is Ben Ryans Islanders who are leading the charge for gold.U.S. open with defeat but get campaign back on trackThe USA sevens side would have been left kicking themselves after their opening round defeat to Argentina. With the clock ticking towards fulltime, they were winning 14-12 only for Matias Moroni to crash over in the corner and steal the match. And all that after Argentina were reduced to five men with two sin-bins in the second-half. They lacked precision and their x-factor runner Perry Baker never got a chance to stretch his legs. But against Brazil they managed to get the key 26-0 win under the belt with a performance that saw Nate Ebner score a try and also get sin-binned. Coach Mike Friday was left underwhelmed afterwards but the team will be looking to raise their game against tournament favourites Fiji on day two as they look to book a spot in the knockouts. Matt Bartkowski Jersey . Now tied for second in the league in shootout goals, the 24-year-old likes to see what the opposing goaltender has in store before he ultimately lands on a move. Johnny Gaudreau Jersey . Woodson said during a radio interview Thursday that the Knicks Carmelo Anthony doesnt get the same calls as other superstars.http://www.flamesauthority.com/authentic-al-macinnis-flames-jersey/ . Ouellette, from Montreal, already has three Olympic gold medals since joining the team in 1999. A look at whats happening all around the majors Wednesday:---FIRST-TIMERClayton Kershaw has three Cy Young Awards, an MVP trophy and a no-hitter on his resume. But hes never pitched at Yankee Stadium -- until now. The ace left-hander is scheduled to start for the Dodgers against New York in a late-afternoon series finale, his second outing since missing more than two months with a back injury. Kershaw (11-3, 1.89 ERA) threw 66 pitches over three innings last Friday in a 4-1 loss at Miami, but manager Dave Roberts wouldnt say how many Kershaw might throw this time. Itll be more than his last start, Roberts said. We expect Clayton to be Clayton. Kershaw has faced the Yankees twice at Dodger Stadium, allowing two earned runs over 15 innings (1.20 ERA) in a pair of no-decisions -- the last in July 2013.TOP WINNERRick Porcello (20-3) aims to add to his major league-high victory total when AL East-leading Boston faces Kevin Gausman and Baltimore at Fenway Park. Lanny McDonald Jersey. ALMOST SETToronto third baseman Josh Donaldson has been out of the starting lineup for two games because of a sore right hip. The reigning AL MVP, stuck in a career-worst seven-game hitless streak, could play in the series finale vs. visiting Tampa Bay.ACESCubs lefty Jon Lester (16-4, 2.51 ERA) closes out the series at Busch Stadium when the NL Central leaders take on the wild card-contending Cardinals and righty Carlos Martinez (14-7, 3.05).REMEMBER ME?Former Royals prospect Sean Manaea starts at Kauffman Stadium against Yordano Ventura as Kansas City tries to make up ground in the AL wild-card race. Coach Tony Popovic has faith Western Sydney can regroup quickly from Saturdays A-League Sydney derby humbling in time for next weekends grand-final rematch with Adelaide. Womens Lightning Jerseys .The Wanderers went down 4-0 in front of more than 61,000 fans at ANZ Stadium, after being picked apart by Sydney FC.It leaves Popovics side winless in eight games against their cross-city rivals, a hoodoo that will extend to more than three years before they meet again in January. The club also remains without a round-one victory in its fifth season.Despite that unenviable round one record, the notoriously slow-starting Wanderers have made three grand finals in the last four seasons. They wont get freaked out by that result Popovic said.Thats certainly not something we have to worry about at all.Id be worried if theyre not disappointed - Im disappointed. But that wont be an issue.Although Popovic struggled to see positives from such an emphatic defeat, he agreed with Sydney coach Graham Arnold that the scoreline wasnt a true reflection of the contest. There were moments when the Wanderers could have turned around their fortunes, but for their own profligacy in front of goal and some brilliant shot-stopping from Danny Vukovic.Kerem Bulut was twice easily thwarted by the Sydney gloveman, who then charged from his line to deny Mitch Nichols a certain goal that would have got them back in the game.Popovic said Sydney simply played the big moments better. The first two goals were very soft on our behalf, he said. But then at 2-0 we created numerous opportunities to go 2-1 and really be right back in the game. But we didnt take them. Then we got a send off and they scored direct. We got punished for everything.Nimble Japanese winger Jumpei Kusukami was a rare positive for the hosts and one that could yield fruits throughout the season, while Argentine marquee Nicolas Martinez impressed in a 20-minute cameo off the bench.Aritz Borda will be suspended for next Fridays away encounter with reigning champions Adelaide after being red-carded for bringing down Alex Brosque in the last 10 minutes.Centre-back Robert Cornthwaite was incredibly lucky not to join him for his reckless two-footed challenge that took down Bobo and triggered a heated first-half brawl.Im always going to try to win my challenges, whether its a derby or a normal game, Cornthwaite said.If the ball is there to be won Im going to try and win the ball. You want to be aggressive and set the tone, but I never go in to injure anyone.I did get the ball, and maybe it was a bit reckless, but the referee deemed it a yellow card. Chris Kunitz Jersey .2 billion agreement with Rogers Communications for the leagues broadcast and multimedia rights. Victor Hedman Jersey . Hazard cut in from the left and scored with a swerving right-footed shot for ninth goal of the season, which proved to be enough for the victory despite Chelseas forwards again lacking a cutting edge up front. An NFL offseason packed with analysis and conjecture finally ends when the 2016 season kicks off this week. Those seeking one last fix to survive the remaining hours have come to the right place. Ive gone through the 32 teams schedules and declared winners for all 256 games with all the authority of a network calling an election with zero percent of precincts reporting. The 2009 Detroit Lions will have company if my Cleveland Browns projection comes true. Its not that Im convinced Cleveland will go 0-16. Its more like, hey, you try finding games theyll win. Thats the trouble with picking outcomes game by game. The really good teams will win too many, and the really bad teams will not win enough. But the divisional outcomes matched the expectations I carried into this exercise, and the win totals added up to 256.Enjoy the season.AFC East | AFC North| AFC South | AFC West NFC East | NFC North | NFC South | NFC WestAFC EASTNew England Patriots (12 wins)Wins: Dolphins, Bills, at Browns, Bengals, at Bills, Seahawks, at 49ers, at Jets, Rams, Ravenss, at Broncos, JetsLosses: at Cardinals, Texans, at Steelers, at DolphinsAnalysis:?The Patriots will play NFLs easiest lineup of opposing quarterbacks, according to my 2016 QB Tiers ratings for each projected starter. Jake Dotchin Jersey. I have them going 2-2 without Tom Brady and then 10-2 the rest of the way. Tough home games against Cincinnati, Seattle and Denver could prevent that from happening.Buffalo Bills (9 wins)Wins: at Ravens, Jets, Cardinals, 49ers, Jaguars, at Raiders, Steelers, Browns, DolphinsLosses: at Patriots, at Rams, at Dolphins, Patriots, at Seahawks, at Bengals, at JetsAnalysis:?The Bills could be an underrated team if Tyrod Taylor builds upon a promising first season as their starting quarterback. I nearly included Buffalo on my list of underrated teams after speaking with a team analytics director who saw the Bills in that vein, but it wasnt clear enough to me Taylor could stay healthy.New York Jets Nike NFL Jerseys China Jerseys NFL Cheap Cheap NFL T-shirts Wholesale NFL White Jerseys Wholesale NFL Camo Jerseys China Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China ' ' '

MONTGOMERY, Ala. Cheap Pistons Jerseys Authentic . -- Alabama?has cleared the way for defensive back Maurice Smith to transfer within the SEC, with the school granting him a full release,?his mother confirmed to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.?The Tuscaloosa News first reported the decision.Smith will have to be granted a waiver from the SEC, which has restrictions on athletes with less than two years of eligibility remaining transferring to league schools, including graduate transfers. Smith graduated earlier this month. His mother,?Samyra Smith, cautioned that Maurices battle is not over, but she told the AJC a decision from the conference is expected within the next 24 hours.Maurice Smith has been trying to follow former Alabama assistants Kirby Smart and Mel Tucker to Georgia?but was blocked from moving to another SEC school.A statement from the SEC said the league doesnt comment on such waiver requests, but they are reviewed on an individual basis. The SEC does not provide waivers of SEC rules absent circumstances that demonstrate a clear reason for granting an exception to those rules, the league statement said. Each waiver request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The requirements for granting of a waiver include that the athletes athletic scholarship was not renewed. After Wednesdays practice, coach Nick Saban said Alabama had done everything it could to allow the conference to make the decision about whatever they decide is in the best interest of the conference and the SEC rules relative to Maurice Smith. So that is past us now, Saban said. It is beyond us. We dont really need to talk about that anymore, and I dont have any other comments to make about it.Smith was a first-team nickelback for the Tide during the spring. He played in every game last season, making 15 tackles.Smart, now Georgias head coach, disagreed with Sabans decision to block Smiths transfer and has said that he would absolutely support a graduate transfers right to transfer to another SEC school.Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. Bruce Brown Jr. Jersey .
